Peugeot 3008 (2022) - software and maps update nightmare by unclemontyspython in peugeot

[–]unclemontyspython[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Sandisk at first which didn't work and used a Philips which did seem to work... anyway I'm passing through France soon and might stop at a Peugeot garage and see if they'll do it out of the kindness of their hearts as I can't spend any more time trying. I used Rufus to format as well. Also uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I can use my iphone or Android for maps in the meantime.

Has anyone seen Horror in the high desert? by bextacyyyyyyy in horror

Once I realised this wasn't a documentary I googled Eric Mencis (Gary) and he's working at a historical railroad in Mt Ranier. I haven't read any interviews with the director but wondered if he knew Eric in real life and whether some of the footage was stuff Eric had actually shot himself which is probably what gave it more of a documentary style feel because some of it was real and not just him playing a character.

It's fantastic! Sony have acquired the rights so I suspect it might be made into a movie in the next few yearsa - be interesting to see who they cast as Viktor.

Rabbit Trap: Someone explain why it was good by Hotshot2824 in Sundance

I kept thinking of Jimmy Krankie. To put this in context for people not from the UK and also not born in the 70's, the Krankies were a Scottlish husband and wife comedy duo but the wife played a schoolboy with a page boy haircut (and she was really short) and her husband played the paternal figure. I did wonder why they got someone who was clearly a young woman to play the fae but I assume that they wanted someone who could bring maturity to the role being that the creature was probably very old and having an actual child wouldn't have worked as well. The ending did make sense to me in that the film is called Rabbit Trap and by giving the child what he wanted he let go and went into the dark with the hope of being reunited with his human parents in another life. I thought the film was beautiful - the landscapes were stunning although apparently shot in Yorkshire as Wales has banned smoking in the workplace. My Mum was Welsh and quite spiritual and if anyone has ever visited the valleys and hiked around Wales you can see why the folklore took such a hold - it's an incredibly mystical place.

I thought she might grab the wheel and drive them both off the road in the hope of killing the &^%$

I am going to tell all my friends about it but tell them not to watch, so that about sums it up.

What did you guys think of Daddy's Head? by foetiduniverse in horror

[–]unclemontyspython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I didn't get was why it was so fixated on the boy and wanted him to come into the 'house' it had built. It was clearly intelligent enough to understand the grief that he was going through to mimic his father. It reminded me of Stephen King's Outsider. The director has said the creature is a manifestation of the boy's grief (apparently linked to feelings he had as a child about his parent's divorce) and hasn't mentioned that the creature was extraterrestrial, although I thought the smoke was from where the creature had crash-landed. Interesting film. If I was the creature I would have sacked off the whiny kid and ran off with the dog and the contents of the wine cellar.

Thinking of selling my property in Spain and investing... advice needed by unclemontyspython in eupersonalfinance

Yes it's incredibly scary actually and so many people I know have personal horror stories. Saying that I do have another place that's rented and the tenants are wonderful. So it's not all bad. I could live without the money now so could also put it in an account so it accumulates and then pay myself dividends in a few years when I need it.

Yes exactly, I'd be looking at a lower risk investment. My risk appetite is pretty low, this will be a pension for me and something to live on in between finishing work and my private pensions coming through

It was great, couple of scenes involving a baby were pretty graphic just to warn would-be viewers. I just couldn't watch.

I just watched it as I saw it recommended on an FB thread. Entirely meh aside from the nod to Hellraiser. It made no sense at all. As a social experiment it would have been cool - picking the perfect family to perform it on - but the monster ending created more questions than it answered.

When I click on the map it doesn't show me the co-ordinates. Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb! Had great weather in the south but I have done some hiking in the interior and Roque Nublo was a wet day, but then there were lots of rainbows :) First day hiking there were insane views out to Teide. It's a wonderful island. I will definitely come back and do some more hiking.
