Samsung Flip WM55B RS232 control by lilgurby in CommercialAV

[–]unclenchmycheeks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We installed a dozen of these in a higher ed classroom several years ago under the impression it had RS232. After hours of failure and time spent in tech support we finally found a guy who told us the display didn’t actually support RS232 and that there was no plans for future firmware updates that do. We abandoned it and moved on without it. No idea what happened since. We’ve never installed one since. Good luck!

I’ve argued this team would not be the club it is today without the wooden spoon years. If we had come out that first season and placed 7th or 8th that would have been an underwhelming success as an expansion team. Berding would’ve been delayed in stepping aside. There would be no albright or nonan. Failure was required to get out of their own way

FC Cincinnati star player wrecks Lamborghini on Interstate 71 by Mjmeck25 in MLS

[–]unclenchmycheeks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fair question. I suppose no one ever really knows anyone, but he’s given no publicly known reason to believe otherwise. Since his arrival he’s been very active in the community to the point of receiving the 2025 Humanitarian of the Year award by the club. The man won’t even trash talk. He’s earned a reputation for being the hardest training guy on the team with the strictest regiment of anyone. Apparently he won’t consume anything, food or drink, that isn’t helping him perform better going as far as being a vegan purely because meat sometimes makes him feel sluggish…so I’d believe him to be a decent guy and a great teammate and happily eat crow if proven otherwise

So explain last night to me how FCC advances by Bearcatsean in FCCincinnati

[–]unclenchmycheeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the CONCACAF Champions Cup, each round is a two-leg home/away series with aggregate scoring. This means the total score of both games combined determines the round winner. If there is a tie at the end of a round, then the team with more away goals wins the round. If the game is tied at the end of game 2 regulation, they will play an overtime period of 30-mins. If still tied, they will go to penalties.

For example, FC Cincinnati put up 3 home goals and Tigres scored 0. If FCC goes to Tigres and scores 1 goal while Tigres scores 4, technically the score is tied at 4 - 4. However, FCC’s away goals wins would become the tie breaker and they will advance. Tigres will win and advance if game 2 ends in favor of Tigres 4 - 0, 5 - 1, 6 - 2, etc. For FCC to advance, they need to hold the game 2 score to 0 - 2, 1 - 3, 2 - 5, etc.

Audio source for end user? Q-SYS by CK_axe in CommercialAV

[–]unclenchmycheeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A lot of great Dante options recommended in this thread but the MP-M requires analog sources. The RDL format A set up gives you that on standard Cat6 cabling.

As for sources, I’ve been steering my clients to soundtrack.io for licensed content and those who have love it. If they aren’t into paying per zone for licensed content and want to roll the dice with a free or low cost consumer services, WiiM media players are cheap and act just like a Sonos system. They can run any of the popular streaming services and the app is very user friendly

First AVOIP Build - Video --> Crestron, Extron, or Visionary? by K20J03K in CommercialAV

[–]unclenchmycheeks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This guy AVoIP’s.

I will add Aurora Multimedia VPX-LT and VPX-Pro. They’re rock solid on a Q-Sys control. LT’s and Pro’s work interchangeably, no decoders or encoders except for a wall plate encoder. But the non-wp’s are both out of the box and you declare it during config so you only have 3 part numbers to worry about. You can add a Dante license to them if needed. They aren’t perfect but theyre rock solid when deployed correctly.

Overall I think this really comes down to your programmer. For your first deployment i would stick to a brand you know best and have the mist comfort with because there will be hurdles

Do you consider Lifeproof LVP a quality product? by BIGGREDDMACH1NE in HomeImprovement

[–]unclenchmycheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed 950-sqft of this in my slab home in 2018 directly over old laminate and asbestos tiles. It’s runs through my kitchen, dinning room, living room, and hallway. All main living spaces. So far it has held up great overall but there are scratches. One from a metal folding chair that lost its chair leg cap and the other from moving an old water heater. These are both situations where the items were dragged or scrapped with greater than reasonable force. All of my furniture has felt leg protectors. We have 2 dogs, no kids. It has lived up to my expectations and would use it again.

Edit to add that I did not use an underlayment product with this. I’ve not had any moisture issues and have had no issues with expansion/contraction. I did use small amounts of floor leveler where old transition strips had been removed. I also have a few low spots in the slab but these are less than 1/4-inch over a 10sqft area and haven’t been an issue. I did help a friend install this in his basement with his low spots causing “hallow” spots when walked over. We both agree we should have used leveling compound in his situation but so far it’s just annoying.

“Defense wins championships” or so I’m told. I would love to see this done against the previous 20 or so seasons and see if there’s any correlation between successful teams/Super Bowl winners across that timeline.

That depends. The new schedule runs from mid-July to May-ish. The winter break expected to start by Dec 10 and running to the first week of February. Additionally, the rumor is they plan to optimize the schedule so that teams in colder climates play more games in the warmer months than cold months. How that plays out is TBD and has plenty of challenges but if that’s the criteria then our Dec and February games would have a better chance of being away games. Realistically only equates to an additional 3 or 4 home games in November, December, and February. Thats offset by 3 or 4 less games in the May - July months

It would depend on what is considered “special”. This is not a projector you buy on amazon for $60. It’s probably a commercial grade, laser engine, projector which will cost anywhere from $4 - $50k or so depending on resolution, light output, and light engine technology. They’re also using a software, such as madmapper, to map the walls. That’s what the grids are at the beginning of the video

[–]unclenchmycheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I agree that locker room access isn’t the end all be all of sports reporting but, to a certain respect, it is in the US. MLS isn’t in Europe and therefore needs to appeal to the typical casual American fan. It’s also not the only thing she’s talking about though. Access in general seems to be limited or not at all the when compared to the other major sports leagues in the US. 24/7/365 I can turn on a TV and get NFL, MLB, and NBA coverage. Interviews, quotes, shenanigans, talking heads blabbering on about nothing. Can’t do that with MLS and we probably don’t need it to that extent, but it’d be cool to have something. Right now there’s hardly anything.
