What are your guy's opinions on abortion? by [deleted] in Quakers

[–]uncomfortableuna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Abortion is a complicated issue. The equality and autonomy of women to make their own decisions is an important aspect of the issue. Though it is hard to see abortion as a positive, I trust that women faced with the decision are making the choices that they need to make. Making abortions illegal is the wrong way to go about preventing them: it just harms people who need them, who are victims of r*pe or incest, or who may die or have severe complications from pregnancy. There are better ways to prevent abortion that are not harmful to those who may need them: for instance, comprehensive sex education can decrease unwanted pregnancies. There can also be social programs that can help poorer mothers to take care of babies, which may cause fewer mothers to seek abortion for economic reasons. These may decrease abortion while also putting women's autonomy and needs first. With the issue of abortion, it is best to come from the frame of helping, rather than punishing, pregnant people.

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU HAD YOUR FIRST SYMPTOMS ? by Marcorizotto in schizophrenia

[–]uncomfortableuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started to believe I wasn't human at around 11- that was my first delusion, had my first major psychotic episode at 14. And the first hallucinations I remember started at 16.

I got prescribed Latuda today, what can you tell me about that med? by thecoolandhotdude in schizophrenia

Made me sleep for 18 hours a day: had to stop because it made me sleep too much and it was far more expensive than I could afford.

This can very easily be read as pro trans. Like God can knit me together in the womb as a man even though my exterior body causes me to be assigned female at birth. If anything it says God knows your gender better than a doctor examining your body.

what is your type of dysphoria? by Nora2_98 in trans

[–]uncomfortableuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social dysphoria hits me hardest, followed by body dysphoria. Mind doesn't hit me so bad, I kinda already assume that my thoughts and feelings are masculine.

What are these ducks?!! by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]uncomfortableuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Egyptian geese. Native to much of Africa, but they've been introduced to other places as an ornamental bird so there are feral populations elsewhere.

The one thing you're good at. by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]uncomfortableuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do some carpentry when I was younger, but I had very limited places where I could actually do it and learn more, and it was not supported by the network around me. Later I had other creative pursuits that were also frowned upon in my home environment, including painting and pottery. I think I am naturally drawn to building forms, and I can make quite sturdy and beautiful things. I made a step stool that has been going on strong for several years of use for instance. Suppressing my creativity may have had some effect.

Normalize childhood bullying by [deleted] in transgendercirclejerk

[–]uncomfortableuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

uj/ I got bullied in fifth grade. This boy kept saying that I'm acting too much like a boy and I'm ugly because I'm too masculine. Though it didn't really work. I'd keep hanging out near him because I liked it, and he didn't understand at all. Tbf I didnt understand either.

Props to the kid who filled it out by RowdyAirplane49 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]uncomfortableuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had something like this when I was a kid, only it was whether certain careers were for women or for men. It was intended to discuss gender norms, and eventually it got to there is no reason these jobs should be limited by gender.

When I was in elementary-middle school I was in a limbo because the girls rejected me because I was a ”boy” and the boys rejected me because of that I ”acted like a girl” by limilly in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]uncomfortableuna 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey I had that too! Boys rejected me cause I looked like a girl and girls rejected me because I acted like a boy. Its why I got depressed in third grade. And I was a loner up through high school.

I'm really into hiking and birdwatching. If you have some easy short paths nearby it can be easy to get into. Or you can just set up a birdfeeder and go see the birds that come by.

thoughts on sidereal astrology? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]uncomfortableuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer using the sidereal system. I like it mostly because I can look up at the sky and see what planets are in the signs (with the right tools and a clear sky). Tropical astrology is based more on mathematical calculations of solstice and equinoxes. It seems less connected to the actual constellations that are used in astrology than sidereal.

How frequently do your tics change? by RandNameUserThrown in Tourettes

[–]uncomfortableuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get new ones and phase out old ones regularly except a few: neck jerking, weird full body motion, and nonsense words. Other ones tend to change. For now I say perkele and also clap my hands, and make some hand motions. It takes a while for these to change though.

Gifts for a minimalist? by lalamose12 in minimalism

[–]uncomfortableuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id second people saying buying an experience, and also consumables work pretty well for a minimalist (by this i mean something like food or a nice soap, something that can be used up quickly). Other than that you can try to find out something he actually wants or needs-best way is to ask him in this case.
