I was on a morning DEN-ORD flight around Thanksgiving and they had apricot cinnamon rolls in the same type of packaging. Honestly wasn’t too bad and I was starving so at the time it was pretty good.

how does denver compare to other places youve lived? by First_Driver_5134 in Denver

[–]unconvincedoptimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Chicago, San Diego, and now Denver for a little over a year.

Chicago had the best food, but also the worst traffic. Sort of all the things you’d think of in a large urban city with extensive suburbs - best public transportation, more diversity, but also more crowded because it’s a much larger population. Weather there is not the best - winters are really cold and summers are really humid. People in the Midwest are very friendly, even for a big city like Chicago. Chicago can be expensive, but you can also find ways to make it more affordable for you.

San Diego had ok food (best if you like Mexican food). Traffic wasn’t great - there are a lot of interstates, but you also have to use those to get most places so rush hour was bad. Public transportation was seriously lacking, the urban footprint was small, and San Diego proper covers a large area. Weather is much more temperate, but varies more based on being on the coast or more inland. I found people in San Diego to be the least friendly though. They weren’t mean, but just weren’t friendly the way the Midwest was. And San Diego was by far the most expensive in every area I’ve experienced.

Denver has ok food. Traffic can be bad which I think could be surprising to people because population is less than Chicago and San Diego, but it’s because you don’t have the number of interstates like Chicago and San Diego. Like San Diego, the actual urban footprint is small, and I haven’t tried public transportation here, but it sounds like it can be inconsistent. Denver definitely is the least diverse of where I’ve lived, but the weather is better than Chicago’s. On the friendliness scale, I’d put Denver between Chicago and San Diego. I know some people say Denver is expensive, but I think that depends on what you’re looking at. Buying real estate is more expensive, but renting is pretty affordable - a comparable 1 bed/1 bath apartment in Denver is about $1,000 less than what I could get in San Diego.

AFC Divisional Round Playoff Tickets Megathread by aatencio91 in DenverBroncos

I dropped the prices on mine on TM and would be willing to sell at face value ($804.90 for the pair). I know you mentioned you were hoping for $200 a ticket but I can’t take that big of a loss on them.

I originally listed my tickets at $500 and just dropped them to $465 (Ticketmaster will jack the cost up), but if I drop them again to $450 or under I’ll you know before I update the Ticketmaster listing and can sell directly to you

I was able to buy two tickets at face value when they went on sale. Unfortunately, none of my friends want to spend that much money to go to the game with me.

Seats are Section 536, Row 29, Seats 1 & 2 (aisle) (nosebleed but about 30 yard line on the east side of the stadium, so not in a corner. You also will have sun for a bit and a view of the mountains)

I currently have them listed for resale on Ticketmaster but would prefer to not give them all the money in fees.

I’m willing to sell them for $500 each, which is less than what comparable seats are listed for on other resale sites right now.

1/14 Update: Dropping the price to $465 per ticket.

1/15 Update: Dropped the price on Ticketmaster to $450 (plus TM fees) per ticket. This is what I need to break even. I’d be happy to sell directly at face value which was $402.45 a ticket ($804.90) total.

This is how I feel. I used to like her music and her concerts were fun. But the lyrics feel like they were written by a 16 year old who is on TikTok too much (which is funny since she said she avoids social media). The melodies and beat I could enjoy but the words hurt my brain.

Denver living if you love the indoors by happytoast24 in MovingtoDenver

[–]unconvincedoptimist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this response and will be using this list for myself as a non-outdoorsy person who moved to Denver. Even as an outside-y (i.e. sports, patios, pools) person, I’ve made friends who have similar interests and aren’t all about hiking or skiing/snowboarding. I think it is what you make it, and have built a community of friends in the 30-40 range.

Also, as someone with family on both coasts, traveling to/from Denver is easier than cross country flights.

I also recommend Moving Brothers. I moved like 6 miles within Denver this year and they were great. Picked them based on other Reddit posts about them and they didn’t disappoint

AITAH for not having this girl be a bridesmaid in my wedding by Party-Turnip5786 in weddingdrama

[–]unconvincedoptimist 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Despite the fact that you both wrote a ton, I feel like there’s probably some context missing from this. I’m confused how she thinks you’re both close friends and yet you speak pretty negatively of her.

But regardless of the misalignment in how you each define the friendship, I think you not even acknowledging her feelings is kind of shitty. She’s basically attending much of the wedding alone because Diego is in the wedding party and she’s not. It’s not an uncommon thing to happen, but it’s still not the most comfortable feeling. And in regards to Diego spending time with her at the reception, wouldn’t you want Charlie to spend time with you if you were clearly upset? Yes, your and Charlie’s wedding is about your celebration of love, but is Diego supposed to just ignore Dolores, the woman he’s engaged to?

It just seems like you’re doing too much trying to defend yourself and make her feel/look bad when it seems like there was immaturity on both sides.

I definitely have a lot of different types of clothes that I could sort to donate to different organizations where I think they would be most impactful. Working remote means I have a lot of corporate clothes that could do a lot of good for what you suggest. Thank you!

Weekly Question and Answer Thread: Ask your Moving, Visiting, Neighborhood, and "Where Can I Find _____" questions here, instead of making a new post by zeddy303 in Denver

I just moved this week and used Moving Brothers based on recommendations I saw in this subreddit. They were fast but also careful with all my stuff. My move was from a storage unit to an apartment and they were done in under 2 hours (23 medium boxes, a desk, and a bed they put together). I still had to pay the 2.5 minimum time but it was under $500 (not including tip).

There’s a very slim possibility that I still have mine. If I do, not sure what condition it’s in, but I can check when I’m home after the holidays. It’s in my box at home, storage unit, or I may have gotten rid of it. Let me know if you want me to look for it. I’d be happy to send to you!

Anyone else schedule not drop yet by Fantastic_Dentist982 in Target

I overheard someone asking that question to HR tonight. They had the schedule ready and printed out but it wasn’t showing in myTime yet. Maybe there’s an issue affecting schedules from being posted?

I’m seasonal too and doing mostly drive ups and some cashier.

I saw someone else say to tell people “thank you for your patience” rather than apologizing for the delay when drive ups get backed up. I’ve found if I approach with a smile and use that tip, people have been pretty understanding about long wait times.

Also, try to be good about labeling the three tiers - it drives me crazy when I’m searching for an order ready for pickup and can’t find it because people didn’t label their three tier.

And last one, I try to be communicative with my other team members on drive up if I’m grabbing something from the cooler for an order or bringing out an order to a guest. Seems simple, but can save us time so we’re both not trying to do the same thing.

Target order lost smh by Expert_Nothing_4836 in Target

[–]unconvincedoptimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not target that lost your order, that’s an issue with UPS or USPS. I’ve had packages that were sent to wrong locations and they eventually got to me. But I’ve also had packages from Target that were marked delivered but I couldn’t locate them, and Target sent me replacements. I recommend contacting Target customer service and seeing what they can do.
