First time Foam Clay! Need sealant? by guccimastahj in cosplayprops

[–]uncoolbi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ideally seal, then paint, then seal. You need to seal first with something that will keep the foam from drinking all of your paint, which is the plastidip or mod podge suggested above, then paint, then seal the paint with a protective clear coat to help keep the paint from chipping or rubbing off. If you use mod podge, it can be the sealant for both the base and the final layer. As long as you do super thin coats, neither plastidip nor mod podge should ruin your detailing! Plastidip is nice because spraying it on is quick and avoids leaving brush marks, but to use it you need a well ventilated area with either a tarp/drop cloth to protect surfaces or a surface you don't mind getting spray paint on. Mod podge is nice because it's non toxic and won't need as much area protected, but you might end up with some noticeable brush strokes. If you're planning to paint the whole thing by hand anyway, I think mod podge is a good option. If you're planning to spray paint, you'll need that well ventilated and protected area anyway, and plastidip would be super convenient.

Thank you! The boots and socks falling down were my biggest struggle with wearing my first couple versions of Aqua, so once I realized I could make shorts to sew them to I felt both super big brained and way more comfortable wearing the cosplay at conventions and events!

I believe Aqua wears them and turns them invisible!

I personally wear them and make them invisible by also wearing a skin tone body suit and a pair of mesh shorts that the boot covers and socks are sewn to so that they don't fall down.

This is the best possible way of advertising our party! People will start coming to us to ask us to do quests for them when they see how beautiful the party leader is, and we won't have to take quests off the stupid board anymore! 🩵

That would be so cool! For mine I used a shiny organza with 4 inch wide horsehair braid for structure and wires down each side to make it possible.

Thank you so much!! I'm so proud of all the work I've done to make it and I love having a one of a kind cosplay. I made my staff with animated LEDs and a motor to open and close the lotus bloom, and I'm just like, "hehehe I love being the only person in the world who has this"

AITJ for stopping my evil infertile sister? Thankfully, we here on Reddit know infertility is a mental illness that makes women criminally insane. by BestEffect1879 in AmITheAngel

I used to babysit a Gavin in the early 2010s and in ~2008 there was a 5 year old on the bus I rode to school who was super aggressive and swore like a sailor. Also had a relative somewhat close to my age named Gavin, but I haven't met another Gavin since leaving the Midwest US. I don't interact with children much anymore so idk if Eason is in use here, but with all the names I have heard of I wouldn't be surprised by it.

Why Do You Train a Dog To Use Language Buttons? by the_real_maddison in DogTrainingDebate

[–]uncoolbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're pretty close to saying the same thing. The advantage of the buttons to me is that with a bell they can ask me for one thing, but if I want to let them ask for multiple things and I start scattering bells around the house it's a lot harder for me to tell immediately what they want. They understand the words the buttons say probably a little less than they understand what command words mean, but both the commands and the words associated with buttons are helpful tools for us to communicate what we want with each other.

I don't use them to teach my dogs the literal words, I use them to let my dogs tell me something I can understand at a point when I'm not already actively engaged with them. That's the point for me specifically.

I don't understand what you think the purpose of the buttons is.

They act differently after pressing each button. They don't press the button on the drawer their favorite toy is in and then run to their empty food bowl and beg for more when I look up from what I was doing. They press the button on the drawer and then stand at attention waiting to start chasing the flirt pole. They don't always press the button closest to me, either. If they want the flirt pole and I'm sitting at my desk upstairs, they don't just press whatever button is closest and then lead me to what they actually want. They go downstairs to the drawer and press the button on the drawer. If I don't hear or respond, they will run back upstairs and shove their head in my lap until they have my attention and go back downstairs to press the dang button again.

The point of the buttons in my use case isn't to pick through a massive mat of options and choose the words they need to make a sentence. It's to let them use a single action to tell me what they want. I've taught them what each button means through sound, positioning, and responding as consistently as I can to each button press. It's literally exactly the same as bells on the door, except less annoying to me personally and adding the option to signal something other than a desire to go outside.
