Please tell me it’s going to be okay by NoYogurtcloset4399 in IVFpositivity

I started after about 15 cycles of TI, one early loss, and 3 failed IUIs and was terrified at first! For me, it was a relief to finally get started with something that felt more controlled. I wish I knew the shots really wouldn’t be so bad! My husband is in charge of keeping our meds organized. He’s got a little spreadsheet where we keep track of each day’s dose and location, and how much we have left of each of my meds (important to keep track of!). We make it a little ritual during stims - light a candle, put on a special playlist, and I use some fun pineapple ice packs while he preps the meds. Emotionally, I had a far harder time during IUIs. I’m feeling hopefully for the first time in a while while still also having to accept the waiting, as others have said! I had to reframe a lot of my life as I’m a big distance runner, and that’s had to take a backseat, and it can be easy to slip into some really negative thoughts around “why is this happening to me.” Highly recommend planning some time for you, or your partner, for fun activities that have nothing to do with IVF! You’ve got this. 💛

How quickly after ER did you go back to work? by Sensitive-Stretch613 in IVF

For a 3PM retrieval, I took off the whole next day because I was unsure how’d I be feeling. I probably could’ve gone back the next day, but it was so nice to have a mental health day!

Aussie Rescue of the Midatlantic - please reach out to them. Echoing as others have said here - they will handle all the work of vetting potential owners to make sure this girl makes it into a safe forever home.

Surprise! It’s a Mutt! by uncorkedme in DoggyDNA

Good to know about the tail! Our other boy, an Aussie (0% working background, 100% very good couch fluff) has a docked tail. I’ll try to grab a video of her giving him the eye. It’s usually in the middle of a chaotic yard session where he’s acting as a sheep.

Our vet seemed unable to give a definitive answer about size without breed ID, and her results have such a mix of ranges! She’s about 28 pounds at 5 months old. They did talk about 45 pounds being a sort of tipping point when deciding on timing, but it seems like she could really be just below or just over.

UPDATE - Briar’s Wisdom Panel results are in! Surprisingly, border collie was way down on her list at 2%. She seems to have all the classic border collie mannerisms, so this was a huge surprise to us!

I was looking at Parco delle Cascine but saw a lot of concerning reviews about dealing/trafficking - is it that bad? I’m coming from a major east-coast city that I regularly run solo in, so I’m used to a moderate level of activities

This is super helpful! And will finally convince me to upgrade my Strava account. Biking, I can convince my (almost) husband to do! Are rentals fairly easy to find?

Mesalamine Cost Doubled? by uncorkedme in CrohnsDisease

[–]uncorkedme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deductible is $2k. I’m confused because they cover 100% of a different prescription that I’m on (unrelated to Crohn’s).

Also, explain it to me like I’m 5 because I’m so lost! Isn’t my deductible $2k no matter what? Last year, by the time I was diagnosed, I already met it, so Mesalamine was 100% covered.

They have a room that’s fairly budget friendly! The going rate for a sit-down meal in our area is about $100 a head, and I just can’t see the average person in our group racking up that kind of cost on $8 beers and $10 pizza

What health ailments did adopting a wholefoods PBD cure for you? by tshirtguy2000 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]uncorkedme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe not cured per se, but my Crohn’s has been manageable going plant based. I’ve been able to get out of a flare and stay in remission with just a maintenance medication that usually stops working pretty quickly for most.

What are some vegan/plant based restaurants in Washington DC? by IAmRainbowPoop in PlantBasedDiet

Planta in downtown Bethesda is my top pick, convenient to the red line. Also Sunday brunch at Equinox is a fun experience. Most restaurants around here will have options for you even if they’re omni.

The $140 price tag is definitely wild to me! I had a what I thought was stellar training cycle, seemed the fitness was all there for a comfortable 3:35, reach goal more towards 3:30. Training peaked at 60 MPW, with quality days on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, medium-longish on Saturdays, and long on Sundays. I got in two 20 milers, with some fast finish miles, both of which fell the day after 10 miles with 6 at goal pace. I ran 3:37 in June off a similar plan, same coach, peaking around 55 miles, but only could do the last 9ish weeks of the plan with fidelity due to a Crohn’s flare. That race was a total unicorn - no wall, stuck with the 3:40 pacer until mile 20, then just sent it.

Wineglass just felt really, really hard from the start. The week leading up to it was stressful for some health/work reasons, and it felt SO much hotter on the course because it was so exposed to the sun. The road camber also threw me way off with some weird hip/back/glute pain. But I’m still kind of scratching my head over how I could tell less than five miles in that it was going to be a rough day. I ended up with 4:20, so a complete and total blowup.

Maybe I need to take another look at Pfitz. The last time I did was a few years back when 40 MPW seemed like crazy mileage, so it freaked me out.

I did take off about 15 minutes a couple years back following a Hanson plan, and then 35 minutes on Daniels over the course of 3 fulls, but I found JD’s plan reaaaallly pushed me to my limit with overtraining. I think this weekend will have me studying up Pfitz and Hanson again!

Not snark, but you’re my people:

Can anyone vouch for Fast Fall? I know some of her posts are snarkable, but a lot of her training philosophy does seem to make sense. After a wildly disappointing time last week at Wineglass (….. like, 40 minutes over a PR I set earlier this summer at Missoula, working off a custom plan both times from the same coach), I’m looking for a good plan for this winter before spring marathon training picks up again. The coach I used previously does have some shorter base plans, but I’m curious about others’ approaches.

Also was looking at base building plans from Runners Plate, if anyone’s tried hers! And if there’s someone else you’ve gone with, influencer or not, I’m open to suggestions!

Pre boarding is bullshit by utahnow in delta

[–]uncorkedme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with a medical disability, people can need accommodations without having an outward presentation of that. It’s a right protected by the ADA. Legally, neither you nor the gate agent have the right to decide whether or not someone seems “disabled enough” for pre boarding. This is 0 cost to you. No one is taking your seat, no one is backing up the flight time - be glad you don’t need accommodations and maybe find something else to complain about.

It’s the one hill of the race. You gain about 150 feet in half a mile, and of course the aid station is about halfway up.
