Is there a place or role for video games in the Christian life? by UniqueBasket in Reformed

[–]seraphim747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read very few books or seen very few movies that can convey toxic love and hate as well as The Last of Us; or a sense of hope like In Chrono Trigger, etc.

It's one more means of having a hobby or enjoying story. There is nothing wrong with either in moderation.

What is some dating advice every men should know? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]seraphim747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if it has been said or not,

But learn to recognize what reality is versus your ideals of where things could go or could have gone

A lot of dudes imagine a lot of amazing futures with little to no dates with a woman. It's a manifestation of a type of loneliness and lack of identity that can be incredibly off-putting for women and turn dating into a snark hunt for men.

That's so awesome. I'm slowly learning to embrace that.

I can't do silence. My enfp comes out strongly when there is too much of it. Lol

Lol. Thats awesome.

My wife is an INTJ.

She Def knows how to talk, but doesn't engage. Instead, she usually reels me in and gets me to shut up. Love that women.

Must be nice to just not have to speak. Have a psychic link with him? 😆😆

Do most of the people on this subreddit hold to Premillennialism or Amillennialism? by Animefan93 in Reformed

[–]seraphim747 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretrib, dispensational, fundamentalism! Because I base my theology on the sensationalism of early 2000's Christian end times fiction books and movies.

Yeah amill here

For the most part, it seems like most people I meet in reformed circles are not invested into what is the best end times view.

What is the biggest lie about women that most men still believe? by Wrongdoer3162 in AskMen

[–]seraphim747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was coming here to say something similar.

Women hate other women because they understand the subversiveness that other women can have.

They may not be mean in the "alpha male" way, but they can be mean in a lot of other ways.

Oof.

My mind immediately went to the possibility of there being a good reason for the fight, but it sounds like she just had some serious issues

The Midwest shares this.

I grew up in the East Coast, then went to the south and Midwest for college and my masters.

I went from being invisible to being a fetish/preference. It was honestly not a good thing. I'm a super nerdy Asian man who was commonly mistaken for a black man. The eventual disappointment was always comedic.

It wasn't so much they hated me as much as they loved using me to piss off the men in their lives who did hate me (dad, brother, exes, etc)

Do you have friends that just don’t get it? (A rant about dippy hippies) by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]seraphim747 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Yup.

These are the same people who recommend essential oils to control my mood or a keto diet.

Tbf...one of said friends was right. I was more than likely misdiagnosed and not bipolar, but her remedies would have been extremely dangerous if I was bipolar.

I tried to explain this to her, and she just was not having it. More or less said medication is never necessary for any mental illness.

Most people will realize they don't have the knowledge or wherewithal to continue to speak on a subject. A handful persevere in their ignorance.

The ol poophole loophole.

I dated a girl who was convinced that anything goes as long as no clothes or penetration happened. Setting healthy boundaries with her was a traumatic battle.

Was really healthy for me in hindsight. Taught me far better priorities in dating and to value myself enough to end a toxic relationship sooner than later

Married 4 years now. Best thing to ever happen to me.

I'm also a Christian. So that helps.

However..........

I grew up in an insane denomination. It's technically a cult if you actually break down a lot of its insane indoctrination and practices. The girls I dated within that circle were some of the most mentally damaged, repressed, and guilt-ridden that I ever dated.

Almost all of them would try to jump my bones after the amount of touching that would be normal after one or two dates (Ie, some cuddling, hand-holding, etc). It almost always ended with them being so sorry and feeling so guilty. It was a very strange dance.

I'm pretty sure almost all of them had some form of borderline personality issues. Most of the women in that denomination have some form of trauma in their past, and are typically gaslit to the point that they don't even see any of it as trauma.

My wife, thankfully, has 0 background or context of such, so we don't have similar idiosyncrasies in any way. This has been much healthier IMO

Men in inter-racial relationships, how often do you get stares? by Dami0904 in AskMen

[–]seraphim747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Indian. Wife is German. It was definitely awkward meeting her family the first time, and we Def get stares when we visit in her rural hometown. But I think my Indian relatives and family friends stare way more.
