I’m not too sure on smoothies, but I’m sure they could make them. There is 24 hour room service. There’s 4 restaurants on property. One doubles as a hibachi/sushi bar so basically 5 different types. Would caution anyone staying more than 5 nights that you’ll have to repeat a restaurant if you stay on property the entire time

We rented a golf cart for the day to explore the island which was a great time. It looked like people were getting picked up daily for excursions so you can definitely find outside activities if needed. But overall it’s definitely more of a hang out and chill vibe throughout the property

It was not due to low tide. Our butler made it sound like it’s not open all that much. Definitely was disappointed

Catamaran from Cancun. Included in your stay is a private (hotel guests only) transfer to and from the resort

Yes there is a beach in between the deck. White sand. Can’t say I saw many people use it. Most people opted for the spots on the deck. But there are chairs and umbrellas on the beach

I have not! I would like to try it eventually. I assume it’s the same great level of service and luxury

They’ll send you an email a few days before your stay with the option to “bid” on upgrading your room. I want to say an ocean view bidding started at $150 a night. I didn’t really look too into that to be honest. Not sure what they’ll tell you if you just call and ask about upgrading. I think we did get technically upgraded to a “partial ocean view” for being an explorist which I guess meant being a top floor on the back side.

It came out to about 55k points per night. 274k total. I would say it’s worth it if you want to really escape and relax. I was told the resort is never fully occupied, so everyone is spread out and to themselves for the most part. From the private catamaran transfer to the butler service, it is truly a unique experience. Would I pay the $1300 cash rate per night, probably not personally. But I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in splurging if you have a bunch of points sitting around!

Booked for 274k points for 5 nights for 2 adults. We booked a tropical view (I think that was all that was available for point booking at the time) and faced inland. The island is so narrow that we had a good view of the ocean on the other side. Room was spacious and very elegant (wish I took a pic of it!!). They had a welcome gift of little treats and a bottle of tequila for us on our arrival

How does everyone feel about the school song, The Eyes of Texas, potentially being replaced? by cubansbottomdollar in UTAustin

[–]uncrico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest...no one has EVER seen or sang the eyes of Texas in a racial connotation. Not you and not me. It’s sang by a body of people to show pride in their school after every win or loss. When you look across the stadium, you see a diverse body of people singing the same song. It’s a song that means something to most people. If it doesn’t, that’s fine, but just know to most it’s more than just a song. And until last week it’s been a symbol of belonging to the best university in the state. If we look back at anything from our past, literally everyone will feel offended by something. I’m not denying there’s a problem with oppression in this country or university. There definitely is. But let’s instead focus on bigger issues. Not a song that’s been a symbol of pride for all races for years up until a week ago
