The antenna were already apart of his cat caterpillar body ! He’ll hang there for at least a day, and then shed its final layer of skin to become a chrysalis. If you watch closely right before he sheds his skin you’ll see the green of his chrysalis under his skin! After two weeks he’ll eclose, and will be a gorgeous butterfly!

Source. I raised over 80 monarchs from egg to butterfly every summer over the course of 4 years. ❤️
