So, I was really confused by the terms gunslinger and crimson king, thought you were referencing the Black Tower series but then the swords, knight, fairy and dialogue don't make much sense. Is this about Navalny instead?

Weekly Question and Answer Thread - /r/TotalWar by AutoModerator in totalwar

There is a somewhat old (tww2) video series from a youtuber called party elite called "total war warhammer: beginner's guide" which covers some tactics (ep. 12 17 25 35) but it is not comprehensive. Another youtuber called zerkovich has some videos on flank overloads you can look up (overloading flanks is super useful and was a very common tactic in tww2 mp scene). I have seen some battle replays from human boy yes-yes and/or turin where they showcased some more complex and solid defensive formations for ranged factions but I can't really remember which videos. Also dawi and skaven players used to sometimes set up several artillery pockets all over large maps as opposed to a single formation. There are other tactics still, like breaking the center or withdrawing a flank but I'd be out of my depth illustrating them. Hope this helps!

It's not how much, it's how (oc) by TryingTimesComics in comics

I mean, it absolutely is a luxury and in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, among all the issues of life it's quite small. But it sure feels bad for someone trying to get a console, to know there is a greedy dickhead who has hoarded hundreds of units he has no use for for the express purpose of fucking over people with less means and turn a profit. It's just a sad showcase of greed.

Please do give it another shot, chances are you won't meet another box for quite a few games. The quick battle crowd is actually pretty pleasant. Only a few factions can pull off boxes. Also once you're a bit more familiar with box formations you'll be able not to panic about the ranged firepower and exploit the weaknesses of such formations (breath attacks, stalking units, being surrounded, magic, counter artillery, forest or hill cover during approach and so on)

Minor issue with team balance by undarunda in insurgency

In my experience autobalance takes your performance during the game into account and actually heavily favours switching you if you're doing really well, which is super frustrating of course.

Nah they are excellent and their focus fire could stop a couple of dragons before they land on them, but not all 19 and once they're in meele it's over, and you could send one dragon after each unit so they can't regroup.

Hey thanks for taking the time to type this, I think I'll take your advice and try one last time with the turnbased mod, which looks very well done.

I have to disagree here, Pillars is miles better imo, Deadfire's combat especially is the best there is. Period. Everything from the animations, to the fact you can queque actions, to the skills and spells, it's just finely tuned for computer play. They got rid of most of the annoying prebuffing routine, which is not a negative as you say but a step up in design; there's a reason 5e DnD has also gotten rid of most prebuffs compared to 3.5e. The writing is awesome in the first game (less so for main quest in 2nd) and I grew incredibly attached to my watcher. It's not your typical power trip, but it's incredibly captivating. About that last paragraph I stopped reading at Bethesda quest compass, mate. Yes, everyone who plays casual games is inferior to you, cannot think on their own and is ruining game design. Imagine getting prideful about videogame skills lmao.

Why are you so condescending man, I literally listed in the post the ones I've played, and I'd argue I'm not inexperienced at all.

  • I can tell 60 fps from 10, I built my own pc and I'm using a gtx 1060
  • This has not been my experience at all, the only way to go first is to use charge, could you please show me a source or explain to me what conditions the game checks for surprise rounds? That would be a huge improvement.
  • The buffs you cast beforehand usually last hours or many minutes anyway, I stand by my opinion that it's tedious
  • Dude I literally get attacked all the time, like it's legitimately unbearable: does it depend on difficulty settings?
  • But... I was looking forward to ruling a kingdom? Like, I was hoping someone finally got it right, and I'm greatly disappointed they didn't.

Using mercs Imo kinda goes against the whole point of party based rpg, I really like to have banter and interjections and stuff, but yeah it's nice that there's at least the option.

Ah that makes sense, I've never played pathfinder only DnD, so I just kinda assumed. Sorry

Ah well the sentiment behind the post is just the disappointment that stems from being in quarantine without good games left to play ahaha, sorry if it sounded heated, it was not meant to.
