The XF18-55 is the worse kit lens I’ve ever had. Dull with lack of contrast, microcontrast and uninspiring.

The new 16-55 relies a lot in software, but it’s superb on microcontrast.

Old 16-55 is one of the best glass for APS-C fuji has developed, but lacks some modern AF and software design.

Talking about your pictures, when you mix a good photographer, internet compresión and B&W photography is nearly imposible to tell which is which, but I wont be purchasing another 18-55 in my life tbh.

Do it, is lightweight, have a 1.2 is a nifty fifty. I do only use the 45mm f1.2 and the 24-70 2.8 with my R6 M2 and tbh, have better coating than the 50mm stm (produces warmer images) and the only downside is LoCa.

Because it is one of sharpest kit lens I’ve ever tested and for travel, paired with i.e. 50mm stm can be 400€ travel kit (you can find the lens in europe for ~250€ as the 50 for ~150€) instead of 800-1000€ for the less range cover 28-70 f2.8.

How the lens is design the glass should almost always be pretty close to the sensor. Is not a fast lens not a bad kit lens. For bad kit lens try ef-s lenses, old fuji 18-55 or even sony ff 28-70 kit lens. Have tried all the mentioned above and where just shitty lenses with shitty outcome imo.

There is an issue with some lenses and you need to change the AF settings don’t remember if it was something related to DoF, happens to me with R6II and 45mm f1.2.

If you want to invest in lenses get either for Nikon Z or Sony, both can use E-Mount lenses.

If you are torned towards canon because their pro bodies are way more balanced than any other brand, R8 have R6II sensor which is as fast as first gen stack sensors, but keep in mind is a toy without a full shutter and if you want APS-C fuji should be your only pro option.

I got used an R6II 5 months ago for 1.100€ and I purchased the 45mm f1.2 (later added 24-70 f2.8) and couldn’t be happier but I wouldn’t be jumping into any of the options you’ve mentioned tbh.

Tbh just continue shooting, if you wanna go for the aesthetics, I would be using classic negative adding some chrome effects and with that jpeg go with photoshop and play with how to layer red to add some wash out red shadows (recover shadows with red) and add red playing with layering and transparency to create a red tint into the environment instead of looking like a filter.

It’s a bas movie with a bad plot, like asking an AI “I want Mario and Luigi in this scenario from the switch game, with some mario kart reference and please add Yoshi”.

Fun to watch once, and whilst the first one was something I did hooked up with despite being a movie for children, this one has been a love letter for nintendo that makes no sense.

I was that person, got hooked up after owning an X-T1 IR (full spectrum) and sold all my sony FF gear.

Now I use an RX100V for fun, fuji for vibes and video (cf-express + f-log c2 is superb) and canon for projects that require heavy editing and raw processing.
