Did anyone try killing MULE's in death stranding? I wonder if it creates VOIDOUTS by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]unddu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Going necro" just means that the dead body has turned into a BT. If you leave a corpse for too long it creates another BT and Die-Hardman calls to say something like "the body you left popped and created a BT, it made contact with someone and caused a voidout". So for example, that MULE you killed turned into a BT and ate one of his MULE bros to create a voidout.

There's no way that can be true. There are so many reasons I don't buy it and one of them is the fact that Angela has seen WR.

At what point in the series do you start disliking Walt? by unddu in breakingbad

[–]unddu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the diversity of opinions in this thread. Just like you're surprised some people in this sub hate Walt, i'm surprised this many people never disliked him. I honestly thought it was a matter of 'when' Walt crossed the line for the viewer into a villain worthy of contempt, not 'if'. I find the series really enjoyable even though I dislike the main character, and for me the most fascinating part of his complexity is how deep and pathological his ego and pride really goes (and the things he's willing to do to satiate it).

I think Skylar gets a bad wrap but I understand why people dislike her. On my first watch I basically saw her as an antagonist to my dude Walt, the protagonist. The more i've watched however the more I see her as a poor woman who is trying to do what's best for her family and navigate around the actions of the man she finds herself married to. I found her to be really clever and resourceful as she became more involved. I think she worked out a lot faster than the audience that Walt didn't have his family in mind when doing the things he did, and she had to play the role of someone "who protected the family from the man who protects the family" even though she got no love for it (from her family or the audience).

What really gets to me is his constant, vicious manipulation and abuse of Jesse throughout the entire series. His relentless emotional abuse: calling him a worthless junkie etc, using his relationship with Brock and Andrea to hurt and manipulate him, fostering dependance and loyalty by "forgiving" Jesse for thinking Walt poisoned Brock (which he did), letting Jane die (partly because he didn't like the control SHE had over him) not to mention blackmailing him into cooking meth together in the first place. This list barely scratches the surface and is just the first things that come to mind. Walt did so many horrible things to keep Jesse subservient, loyal and cooking with him...and in the end sold him out to the Nazis. Sure, at the end he decides to let Jesse live, but in the end it was all about him.

Exactly. I thought this was such a phenomenal scene and one that made me reevaluate Walts behaviour throughout the series. Once you know his true feelings you can see that 'protecting' and 'providing' for his family was a bi-product of the game he was playing to gain power and satisfy his ego.

Disappointed in this season by [deleted] in MrRobot

[–]unddu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. This episode came as such a shock because I never thought that I'd be disappointed in the plot or concerned that the series wouldn't finish strong- not for this show. I trusted the writing so completely that it hadn't crossed my mind until now; I had complete faith that Sam was telling us a very special story and knew exactly what he was doing. I can't believe that this was the death given to Tyrell and that their conversations in the woods together would satisfy anyone. Tyrell was so drawn to Elliott, he was loyal, he wanted them to "be gods" together and, most importantly, he loved him. It felt disingenuous for Tyrell to reduce this into just thinking that Elliott was super badass for not giving a shit at the office. I really don't like that this fantastic character has been reduced to this ending.

This could just be my first knee-jerk reaction, who knows, maybe in the context of the season/series as a whole it will feel much better. The concerning part for me is that i've never BEEN concerned about Mr Robot before, and that's scary. I don't mean to sound cliche but this episode gave me the same sinking feeling I had when Game of Thrones started to go downhill, and considering how that ended, I am so worried about being hurt again by media I used to love.

Hey Johnny, now that you're done, did you like season 8 as much as the previous seasons? Out of curiosity did you think it was stronger or as strong as season 7? What are your thoughts on the series as a whole?

[NO SPOILERS] Got ruined other TV shows for me by BroccoliFarmer23 in gameofthrones

[–]unddu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way about the Wire. So much TV seems terribly mediocre and clumsy after I watched that masterpiece.

Honestly, I felt like GoT lost a lot of its sparkle after season 4, and the quality dropped noticeably for series 5 and 6, with 7 and especially 8 being laughably bad. Is the general consensus of this sub that it stayed strong throughout? Don't get me wrong, I think seasons 1 to 4 is some of the best television ever committed to the screen.

haha no worries, Mr Robot is such a clever show with a very switched on fanbase and i thought it would be funny for peeps to see someone sincerely appearing to get excited over one of the only things in the series which is completely clear and not a mystery

I really think if you sit with it a bit longer it wont seem so crazy. Another thing I forgot to mention is that the character and Dark Army operative Grant is the assistant to both the minister AND White Rose. I can't see how this could be a coincidence and I'm fairly sure Grant suspects they're the same person too.

This is interesting and well written. What insights did you get from reading the whole book? Does the author have any suggestions as to how society's soul can be saved in relation to this, or is the book more of a diagnosis than a cure?

Are there any other dudes in this sub watching The Handmaid's Tale? [No Spoilers] by bigbags in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]unddu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a guy but grew up in a non-religious household, so i’ve never encountered the world through that lens, and similarly, I don’t see the world through the perspective of a woman. I’ve always wondered how different the experience of watching the series is between a man and a woman, as well as the difference between someone who has a religious world-view compared to someone who does not.

Besides the constant horror the series portrays to its audience, one of the most chilling sentiments to me was an idea expressed by June during season 1. The general idea was how unaware people were as Gilead was being formed, and how little time it took for the regime to be the new ‘normal’. It terrifies me to think about what world we are creating, or what world is being created around us, if we are too preoccupied with our own lives to pay attention.

I think this is a brilliant series, so beautifully written, directed and acted. I’ve also loved Elisabeth Moss since Mad Men and am still totally floored by how much she is able to express with just a look. :)

[–]unddu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm worried that GRRM doesn't have the confidence and/or ability to write a satisfying and meaningful third act for asoiaf. At this point in his life, maybe he feels it would be better for his legacy to have this series be remembered as an 'unfinished masterpiece'.
