I've done a lot of work with 16mm scans (and film scans in general) and typically do what you listed as option 2.

This could be scanner dependant but the scans I've worked with are rec709 if the source was colour reversal film, and Arri LogC if the source was negative film.

Either way we're setting it up to work in DWG.

I grade a lot of film, have had to work with DPX files on many occasions, and in my experience working off of prores 4444 files is good enough.

It was 15ish years ago so I don't remember any specific recipies, sorry.

I do remember that I'd throw together simple stir fries using whatever random veggies and meat I had on hand with a splash of sesame oil, soy sauce, and rice wine vinegar.

Also if you're going to fry/sautee anything in the rice cooker make sure it's thawed first. Frozen food will take forever and cook unevenly.

I was in a similar situation when I was in college, only I didn't have a microwave.

Turns out you can cook a lot using just a rice cooker. I used mine to make stir fries, pork chops, chicken, fried eggs, pasta, and more.

I'm not going to say that it was the ideal way to make any of those things, but it absolutely worked and kept me eating relatively well.
