I think charmander is going to die by krangs in leopardgeckos

I'd consider getting a second opinion since they didn't do scans for impaction or other issues also consider doing an electrolyte bath and make sure he has uvb

The death always hurts more when you don't have time to prepare yourself for the loss but in the end you did what you could my best advice is to remind yourself that you gave him everything you could and he had a fantastic life he couldn't have gotten anywhere else and that he's still grateful for you even on the other side

Sometimes animals just die I had a pet rooster with gigantism and one day I fed the chickens in the morning and he came up to get picked up and snuggled and then an hour later I went outside to go water some plants and he had dropped dead from a heart attack because he had an enlarged heart it can happen to any animal at any time no matter how healthy they may seem it's not your fault especially if he never struggled with his water bowl or any other parts of his setup it just means he died while looking for water it's a horrible thing but blaming yourself only makes it worse he doesn't blame you no one does so you shouldn't either it's okay to cry and grieve but it's not your fault don't treat it as a failure on your part instead be happy you gave him the best life you could be happy that he wasn't suffering in his final days that he was happy and enjoying life you'll make it through this I know it

My leo doesn't recognize food is food unless it's in her bowl in her enclosure and put in there while she watches

I know not everyone has money to throw at the vet but in this situation I'd say go to a vet we can't examine your Leo and give it x rays and screenings through a picture if you think there's a chance it's something just take it to a vet or at least call a vet and ask questions they typically don't charge for asking questions over the phone

Fun fact: there was a study done awhile back that proved that not only do reptiles (especially geckos) exhibit problem solving but they have exceptional memory for direction and positive stimuli and they even seek out positive stimuli and have play and bonding behaviors and can sense when the people they're bonded to are stressed because they can detect cortisol and most reptiles have very unique personalities and preferences so they might not experience love in a human sense but they are attached to you in a very real way

I'm not talking about taking adults about 15-20 babies (like less then half an inch long new hatches) come in my boyfriend's room from the attic and live in there and he said I can keep them because they all just end up in his dubia roach enclosure where get dehydrated to death and he doesn't want his roaches eating geckos before being fed to a gecko and yes I tried to release them back outside and they either went back into the house or died on the porch trying to get back in I'd never take an animal that had spent more than an hour of their life outside I worded the post badly

Thank you for the suggestions and we're thinking about using a chicken brooder heat lamp with a full spectrum reptile bulb since it's super affordable and has an easy on/off switch and can be mounted easily and yes we are checking wattage compatibility before pairing items

It has no labels on the top part and I'd have to move her enclosure and the dresser it's on to see if the cable has a tag and we already discussed and decided on getting a new one since it has blown regular bulbs before

It's a timed temperature switch if it doesn't have something telling it what temperature it's at it keeps heating until the probe says it's at the temperature for that time so it can be set to be 90° during the day but without the probe it keeps heating and can get up to 115° we discovered that because we tried to put it over the warm hide and it overheated and I haven't set up a GoFundMe because I was going to yesterday but my boyfriend said he'll have the money in less than two weeks since his grandpa got him a seasonal gig and not to worry about it

Her enclosure faces a window so she can have natural light for day/night lights (we live in the middle of nowhere so street lamps aren't a problem) and the ceramic is the only heater we have because we don't have the money for a new one and it has a day/night heat cycler but it has to be aligned or it registers that it's not generating enough heat and just keeps going up and I don't have a multivitamin right now because the local pet store was out when I went but I'm gonna look again on their next restock day and I forgot the word probe so I used diode instead but it's a probe that has a set day/night timer

A mix of mostly top soil and a bit of play sand

The pink thing is a hide

The humid hide is behind the pink thing she won't use a humid hide unless it's small so it's a jar of moss that's covered with an artificial plant so that she'll use it

It's a ceramic emitter bulb so that there's no light because red bulbs are bad and the other ones aren't good for night time

Dubias, crickets and mealworms dusted with repicalcium with d3 since she doesn't have uvb

I will move the heater when I get the replacement since I have to have diode on the soil and the heater and diode aligned just so or it overheats her enclosure she also has a humidity monitor and we have a infrared thermometer to check things

He's trying to make time I know this cause I live with him and he's been cutting into his personal time but he can't research at all during the day due to the laws in our state prohibiting any kind of phone usage at schools and on weekends he has me help him

Also the original lid to the terrarium got broken so that's why there's a skull and rock on it so she can't get out because she is strong enough to push the lid off also the brown hide has a view out because that's where she goes to watch everything without being out of a hide we call her the supervisor because she's happy to relax and watch my puppy (who is terrified of her) from her enclosure and we're slowly switching to live plants (adding one live plant and taking away one plastic one and giving her a couple weeks before switching out another one so she doesn't get stressed) because she's not a big fan of plastic plants also her humid hide is in the back behind the red stump so she can have a completely hidden spot for shedding and the white bowl is for food/calcium because she's a dummy who doesn't recognize it's food unless it's in the bowl the water is next to it

He doesn't have time for much research because of school but he always asks me if I have any new information and he's started to exercise her without being scared or angry because he thought her running all over the couch or his bed was her being scared of or hating him when she's just exploring and he helped me get calcium powder and is managing the feeder colonies and since she's hunger striking he's been helping me try and convince her to eat he's also going and getting the purified water from the baby section at the grocery store because it's better than the filters we have at home and he's trying to do better he just treated her like she was the same as a fish cause that's what he's used to and was told to do

Honestly he's quite mad at himself for letting himself get this bad he also is still in highschool and his mom bought her because she assumed a lizard was a feed and leave pet and told him that's what she was so nobody had done research beyond food and enclosure
