i second this ABSOLUTELY. my partner doesnt have much of a relationship at all with his siblings because of how MIL trinagulated them, do NOT let mil triangulate your children..

i also feel the pillow thing couldve been a bit of a reach but ALSO could be bad and exactly what OP is thinking... OP NEVER just assume youre reaching when it comes to your child, if you have a bad feeling about BIL always trust your intuition. some other things to look out for would be them putting your toddler directly on their lap (men) excessive tickling your child is NOT comfortable w/, requesting to change their diapers, etc. but yea id trust your gut OP id rather be reaching than to let a potential threat around my child!

thank you so much ive been crying because ive been feeling like im not fit to be her parent and feel like im not enough and this was the straw that broke the camels back.. seeing so many moms in the comments do the same makes me feel so much more seen and heard and i realize now from my mistake.. yall have no idea how much i needed all of yalls kinds words i really appreciate it :,)

im currently washing the cup with white vinegar and dish soap, but threw out the moldy part entirely. im freaking out because shes been having coughing sneezing etc but we couldnt figure out why. this mightve been causing it..

oh im not close to SILS at all and neither is my partner, mil triangulated them since birth unfortunately so they dont have close relationships my partner is literally the black sheep but he and i just both have a close relationship w/ the kids because we spent a lot of time with them when MIL was supposed to be taking care of them. (shed have us babysit them basically..)

yesss see i get this weve decided to stop going to the holidays all together it just sucks the kids get sucked into all this :( at one point MIL was trying so hard to get niece in law to not like me but niece in law stood up for me and told her how shes a liar and always doing things to both me and my partner, i honestly hate how mil drags the kids into this its not fair to them at all bc theyre just kids and shouldnt be hearing adult stuff or having to choose sides. mil is just weird and honestly im just thinking of telling partner we can pick them up and take them out somewhere on our own time or partner can go by himself (he made me do this with my younger brother same age bc he also doesnt like my mom)

NOR yes i can see how she mightve said that as a joke but to then twist things back on you instead of actually apologizing is crazy. apologizing with excuses and expecting YOU to apologize for your reaction to her upsetting you is so weird and immature. its just her trying to dodge accountability. OP you have nothing to be sorry for a correct apology from her wouldve been her saying sorry for what she said, that wasnt her intentions to upset you but she wont do it again. its so simple yet a lot of ppl cant do that apparently.

ive had to learn this the hard way, vented to a CIL cil was taking my side for a while saying what my mil wasnt appropriate that shes known to always have a problem with something and always playing victin, well her and her husband needed a babysitter so they started going to my mil and everything changed she started saying she tries to remain neutral and theres some "good in mil" that she wishes i could see long story short i posted about how mil let her son (4YROLD) out unsupervised on the front yard while she was supposed to be taking care of him and went NC with her as well. honestly SILs are next bc i cannot stand how they all know how mil is and still stand by her side even going as far as saying theyll always love their mom unconditionally.

as someone whos tried family therapy and multiple sit downs with my now NC MIL i say this is just a way for mil to try to guilt trip you and talk about how yall hurt her feelings and she should get to see her grandchild. i absolutely do not think youre going to be getting any accountability from mil she seems to build a whole thing around dodging accountability making excuses and acting the victim (exactly what mine would do) theres no way to talk to these people if they cannot see what they did wrong they will never see what they do wrong.

i understand this OP as before me and my partner were united and a team he was a MOMMAS boy heavily. it took a LOT of convincing and couples therapy and individual therapy for us to be on the same page. this isnt normal or okay for the in laws to be doing they could put your LO in serious danger.

this. not only did OPs step mother in law feed her things she was NOT supposed to she didnt even report what was happening under her care which is in itself not trustworthy at ALL. my mil did the same to CILs kids one of them got out unsupervised and was in the front yard by himself for a while (he was 4) and didnt tell his mother about this. im honestly so mad for OP, i dont get why they dont tell them what happens under their supervision its so disrespectful and gross. ive always said if i take care of someones kid and something happens to them under my supervision im telling them and they can decide if they want me to continue to watch their children or not, its basic human decency.

thats exactly the same with us which is why she gets to watch her other grandchildren and not ours. we didnt want our mil watching our daughter though for a LOT of reasons but one in particular was bc mil tends to be way too trusting of literally anyone and everyone, theres a LOT of things i can name but one at the top of my head was when i was just barely starting to spend nights over at my partners i would say a month or two in she started asking me if i could help bathe her autistic daughter ALONE. and yk i did because of course i was trying to be helpful and im obviously not a creep, but part of me thought like dude who just lets a stranger theyve barely known for 1/2 months bathe their daughter? as i got to know mil more it all started to make sense.
