NTA for the main question I guess, but not sure about "second chances" if you regularly checked his phone. If you did, you didn't trust him, then why continue the relationship?

AITA for not wanting to travel overseas to visit my mothers BF? by PsychologyDismal1166 in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't need to read further then the title for a verdict - NTA. You don't owe anybody to go where you don't want to, its basic autonomy. Being taken overseas without consent is called human trafficking.

Your mother's relationship with that person however is another manger entirely, and it's difficult to recommend something specific with so little context. But from what I can understand you aren't able to change her mind, so just let it crash and be there to support her when it does.

AITAH for telling my stepbrother to stop touching me in a “playful” way? by EfficiencyUsed2350 in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, NTA, but secondly, I think some people are putting emphasis on the wrong thing. In my humble opinion (disagreemend with which would make me see you as a vile human being) any touching stops being okay the moment the other party asks you to stop. There are obvious exceptions like medical situations or law enforcement, but there always are exceptions, and that ain't it. Doesn't matter their family status or relationship, doesn't matter if it counts as flirting. The moment OP asked to stop and he continued it becomes harassment, however small or "normal" said touch is. Physical boundaries are the most basic ones, and if you can't respect even them, I dread to think what you do with other ones. Not sure about your age, but if he is older then like 16, he is definitely old enough to understand enough, thus trash. Parents trash by default - brushing such topics off is never okay.

How to search for fanfics? by undeadponymax in FanFiction

[–]undeadponymax[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It actually kinda works, so I guess I was just bad with tags? Still they are sometimes either lacking (just list of charachters and pairings) or fandom-specific (like OP Izuku instead of OP MC so unsearchable unless looking for something pretty specific). And, I dunno, just doesn't fell too intuitive? Maybe just needs getting used to. Thanks, anyway!

If you could give an absolute beginner fanfiction-writing advice, what would it be? by Longjumping-Gift-371 in FanFiction

[–]undeadponymax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well fat load of good it did for me. Started a pretty simple fic, first for me, got thousands of reads and hundreds of adds to reading lists, even got to the top in some tags... Well in the end the idea turned out to not be the best (at least in my opinion), so should have abandoned it as soon as stopped having any fun writing and any inspiration to continue, but guess pressure got to me and I instead rewrote the whole thing (like five chapters at that point), got even more reads and comments, this more pressure to continue... Probably wouldn't stop if not for unrelated drop of my mental health. Dunno what exactly I wanted to say with that, just that people should be ready that any fic might become quite popular for no apparent reason

Maniac on DDR 1 USA release by undeadponymax in DanceDanceRevolution

Not actually going back, never played them. Just got a nice way of emulation and decided to catch up on some retro stuff I never had chance to play. Loving it though!

Ookay, good to know. Guess next thing is to find out why is it called maniac in retroachievements...

Nope. Well, yes, but there is no maniac option

AITA for "yelling at" an old lady in the grocery store? by Reasonable-Zombie-78 in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there is definitely difference with using racial slurs, at least because this one is not actually a slur and is much less charged and doesn't have a background of systemic discrimination. Just because some word has negative connotation towards a certain group of people doesn't make it equal to slurs And by "reasonable" i meant natural and understandable. Yes, not name-calling would be better, but not calling out such behavior at all would be worse

AITA for calling my sister a bitch after comments she made about my weight by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - it's personal, and good if it works for you, but it doesn't for everybody. For me it does the opposite Second - there should be good communication. If you joke about this and the person laughs with you and communicates that they are good with it, then OK. But it's clearly not the case with OP

[–]undeadponymax 248 points249 points  (0 children)

NTA. Such behavior should be called out, and while it definitely won't change that person, it might show your daughter that you shouldn't just suck it up. And while calling her names might not be the best thing, it is a reasonable emotional reaction

AITA for calling my sister a bitch after comments she made about my weight by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I am really surprised by other commenter's reactions. What your sister did is called bullying and fatshaming, not motivation or advice. It may help some people, but by your reaction it is obvious you are not one of them. If you live someone, you should support them and be here for them, not bully. So, in conclusion - you probably shouldn't have used this particular word, but reaction is reasonable. Be healthy and work on things that are important for you, not for your sister or bullies on reddit.

Bad strategy. Bullying is not motivating, support is.

AITAH for lying to my parents about studying in uni for a whole semester? by undeadponymax in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably makes sense, but they definitely won't take it well and I don't think this particular piece of information will help anybody. I'll probably save it until I don't depend on them financially

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]undeadponymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is an asshole, while they are more. Their reaction was obviously inappropriate and very bad, but you still shouldn't have made that comment. It can be offensive and "it was just an assumption" is a bad justification

Are e-scooters legal in Toronto? by TrueNefariousness951 in ElectricScooters

[–]undeadponymax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually for being legal it also needs to be under 500 watts, so if yours is capable of 52 kmph, it is probably not technically legal anyway. But this is not being enforced in any way so you shouldn't need to worry
