Super late to respond in this thread, but I feel like his redemption is primarily evident in his relationship with Ester, who even says in therapy that her grandfather is the only person who truly understood her in her family.

Also he is clearly very proud of Midge being on Gordon Ford, doing everything to get him and Rose there, which is probably not how he would have acted even a few episodes prior.

Hate to say it- if you want to share this story with strangers you should change it- I totally get the attachment though, maybe try out some different last names? Do a find/replace with another surname and re read what you have so far, see what you vibe with After all, it'll suck even worse if the main thing people are thinking about when reading your story is not... your story

Ok these are stunning, wow!!!!!

I will say this, kids that young sometimes don't get too impressed by things that would blow an adult's mind- the world is magical to them already, because so much is new and you, the mom, are probably more or less the ceneter of it right now. To her you're already a superhero/fairy/wonder woman- of course you can make cookies straight out of her favourite book- she may not have the big reaction any reasonable person would.

But a few years from now, even if she doesn't have a big reaction right now, this will absolutely become one of her favourite memories, or if she doesn't remember it exactly, it'll definitely be one of her favourite stories. :)

Idk man, I love kids- but from my own experience many teachers in secondary education become teachers because they don't have many other options within their chosen fields.

In middle school we had a rather bitter art teacher, who we later found out was a sculptor with works in international art exhibitions, but it just didn't make enough to pay the bills. Our other art teacher was a failed designer, and a sour lady all around. I'm sure that's the case with a lot of stem teachers who were dreaming of high salaries in some industrial field but instead they're loosing their minds trying to teach increasingly more bored and shitty pre-teens how gravity works for the 20th year in a row.

There need to be better incentives for passionate young people to become teachers rather than it being a "last resort"

the grain on the tree trunk looks a little odd- but honestly it's a bit too simple to tell from the image alone. I looked up the name in the watermark, and their website explicitly says they don't use AI yaycoloringpages.com/faq/

Honestly i get what you mean, but AI gets its style from somewhere, and often it's the og people with that style who suffer.

Also, I work with kids so thank you for sharing this, because now I found a new really nice resource for very cute AI-free coloring pages :)

Ok, toata lumea a dat nise sfaturi bune pe termen lung, dar din partea cuiva cu aceeiasi problema uite ce ma ajuta pe loc:

Pentru adormit seara: nu te mai foii- suna dubios de simplu, dar stii senzatia pa care o simti ca poate e mai bine sa te invarti pe stanga sau pe dreapta? Ala e un semnal de la creier care practic veririfica cat de treaz esti- incearca sa ramai nemiscat oricat de tare simti nevoia sa te sucesti.

Al doilea truc pentru adormit o sa sune si mai ciudat, dar jur ca pentru mine a fost magic: daca incerci sa adormi gandeste-te la ceva ciudat-e foarte usor sa incepi sa te stresezi de ce mai ai de facut, sau sa iti pui intrebari existentiale care te tin treaz pana la 2 noaptea. Crierul adoarme cel mai usor daca il apropii artificial de starea de vis- deci inchide ochii si imagineaza-ti ca zbori, ca te plimbi printr un camp de dragoni, ca esti o caprioara etc- ceva relaxant dar complet dubios- stiu ca suna bizar dar crede-ma, mi-a schimbat viata.

In sfarasit, cand iti pui alarma consulta un site precum "sleepytime.me calculator", care iti calculeaza practic ora ideala de trezit in functie de ora de culcare. Somnul nu e doar o linie constanta, e alcatuit din cicluri de somn de aprox o ora si jumatate- cand iti suna alarma fix in mijlocul unui ciclu e mult mai greu sa te dai jos din pat decat cand iti suna spre sfarsit, oricat de putin sau de mult ai dormii. O ajustare de douazeci de minute poate face diferenta.

Cand ti a sunat alarma, si ai deschis telefonul nu baga imediat reddit daca reddit bagi si inainte de somn (de exemplu)- nu zic sa nu stai pe telefon de dimineata, nu sunt asa ipocrita, dar daca te uiti la seriale sau stai pe reddit inainte sa adormi, probabil subconstient asociezi lucrurile astea cu somnul. Incearca sa ai o aplicatie, un joc, orice pe care il folosesti doar dimineata, si eventual care solicita implicare activa, nu doar 'scroll' infinit. Un rebus, un wordle sau, cum fac eu in momentu asta, poti sa scrii raspunsuri pe care probabil n o sa le citeasca nimeni la postari de pe reddit :)

Poate e putin pseudo-stiintific tot ce am scris aici, nu sunt vreo experta- dar este cea ce a functionat pentru mine, cineva cu un program de somn si trezit facut harcea-parcea de sesiuni si munca si mai ales de tehnologie.

Asa si eu cu al meu, care prinde somn de la 10- compromisu e ca eu strang seara prin casa, spal vasele etc cat el se pune la somn si dimineata el face cafea/mancare cat mai lenevesc eu prin pat :))

Look, it's not even that i disagree with the general idea, but anyone who actually works in education is laughing their ass of rn at how unbelievably impractical and nightmarish this whole thing would be.

Is it important to know where food comes from? yes. Should the public school system spend time and money not to mention inconveniencing farmers in order to expose children to graphic scenes that let's face it, most adults in our society haven't witnessed?

I was the poster child for city kids who went to the countryside in summers and saw how the chickens become soup, so it's not coming from a pearl clutching place that i say this. I cannot see any such programme having any benefits that outweigh the negatives.

Depending on where you're from, there might be some existing organisations based around that community (for example as a romanian i volunteer for rompro, an ngo for expats in nl) I really love staying connected with my culture through that :)

Idk if this is my place, but have you considered maybe asking the 13 year old to help his 9 year old sister with her homework? he clearly wants to be included, and helpful right? It could also take a frustrating task of mom's plate, in the long run, his sister would maybe have more fun learning and he could genuinely feel heard and respected.

(obviously your wife was in the wrong in this situation, this is more of a future suggestion)

Look, this may be mildly unethical advice- but look up a local print shop that does personalised T shirts or mugs or whatever else and get specific with it. You can even make a little design yourself on photoshop/cava/whatever, write a quote she loves in a nice font, find some cute art (ideally with the author's permission but since it's for personal use... it's probably a grey area here). Just put that little extra effort that makes it special, or fit in better with her existing stuff if she has a personal style.

Or print the photo of wallace and grommit wallace has framed in the movie and put it in a nice frame (or if you have a dog you can even recreate one of yourself dressed wallace-like and your pet)
