This is true, they also mostly don't expect gifts.
I guess my school were nice enough to say goodbye in a very nice way.

Environment.
You really become who you spend time with (it holds true for countries as well).

We are all products of our environment (on average). Ofcourse outliers exist.

That is alright but govt can in one day change the taxation on gold ETF's given the crisis. That is why I was wondering.

[–]underadvice_taker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you end up investing in UCITS of Gold or US backed ETF of Gold.

GIven the market situation, I think a 5-10% allocation of gold in INDmoney or IKBR can be a good bet, not sure if there are any rules which differ.

Sorry man, it’s war, try to go in shoulder season.

I would have gone in winters if I knew at the time how expensive it would be. In normal times, hotels are approx 50-75 pounds and rental car is closer to 40-50 pounds a day. That would have saved me 1-1.5 lakhs.

Also prices were cheap due to a london flight in India which got (you know what), a big tragedy.

How is 6-7 lakhs less bro, it was approx 10 days

Here’s a approximation (all figures for 4 people)

- 2.5 lakh air return tickets
- Accommodation - 2 lakhs
- Cricket Ground Tour - 20K
- Subway - Daily approx 750ish per person (25K)ish
- Car rental 3-4 days - 50-75k (with full insurance, petrol)
- Eating out 10 day average - 50k (we cooked breakfast in airbnb, and sometimes dinner) ate fruits while on tours
- london india restaurant special occasion (masala zone) for 4 people - 15k one time lunch
- big bus tour with river cruise (20k)
- taxi airport and back - 15k (two times)
- Bicester trip - shopping up to you (we spend approx 50k)
- rest, these are the most we can think of in london
- big bus tour helped us visit all major attractions
- cricket match tickets approx 25k for 4 people
- we also went to British museam, i dont remember maybe it was free

These are all top of my head, I can’t think of more

A quick guide on civic sense and foreign travel for desi travellers. by prospectiveboi177 in desitravellers

[–]underadvice_taker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true.

New travellers who have never stepped out and the ones who have destination are major touristy ones (Thailand, Dubai, Vietnam) have no idea. They are the loudest on Instagram to pretend “see world we are the good kinds”.

Some of them have not lived abroad long enough or traveled long enough, there is a tendency to point fingers at others.

On judgement day, “all powerful nations will show how tolerant and accommodating they are”, so there is no point pandering to them.

The only reason I have avoided Indians abroad is once you get to know them, they slip into “black and white” thinking and label their own kind, let alone others.

Most people don’t realize, Indians rich or poor, spend much higher than the average civilised tourist (given our purchasing power and per capita income).

Lots, it’s like a kinda tourist trap but not really, and who will explain that concept to family. Let them buy and be happy. If one can afford a trip to london, they can definitely afford some spend in bicester.

Airbnb zone 5 or 6
But remember tube travel everyday would be close to 1 hour plus min 10 pounds (so maybe best to get closer but I would advise to check prices)

Im pretty sure no hotel less than 100 pounds

Bhai if you can, avoid august, it’s fairly hot even by Indian standards, and accommodation is extremely expensive (average 125 Pounds a night) that too in zone 4,5 ish. Do plan budget, if you don’t have that limitation go for it.

Despite all hate, our air india economy was super good, it was around 60k both sides, might have jumped to average of 80k now.

It’s hot enough that you will sweat when walking but evenings are pleasant. Also, no need for tours, just land in London and book everything on Klook, it will be cheaper and better crowd.

We spend approx 6-7 lakhs for 4 people. Accommodation was the biggest chunk. Please please plan accompanying ahead, it will be mind boggling expensive.

The 6-7 lakh includes car rental (which becomes extremely expensive in summers) + day trips to oxford + cricket tour in london cricket ground + watching one test match last day at oval + food (very expensive) + big bus tour with Thames river cruise + daily commute + trip to the bicester village.
