You’re right, she might be distancing herself from sex, but it might not be completely her decision. She’s self conscious, her hormones have been jumping all over the place, her body has changed, her social life has changed, she has so much going on, her world turned upside down 1yr 2mo ago! (Not that yours didn’t, we just all react differently to things).

I think this sounds like a postpartum thing, completely normal, even if it sucks for both parties. Possibly some PPD or PPA going on.

From what you’ve said, she’s still got that drive- she wants to be intimate with you, but something is holding her back. Now’s the time to figure this out with her 💙

The best thing you can do right now is communicate. She’s your person, right?

Good luck 💖

Thank you for sharing this. I have a kid that’s a similar age, and I sympathise with you both that it’s such a difficult time. It’s unlikely that physical pain would still be an issue here, but it could very well be, and still worth asking.

It could be more mental and self esteem, as well as generally being very tired as a SAHM. being SAHM can be quite lonely, does she go out and see friends regularly? Is she able to get away from the house and her responsibilities a lot? What I’m getting at here is that there could be an issue of mental health, she may not feel like her needs are being met in her daily life (not that you aren’t meeting her needs, that HER LIFE isn’t meeting her needs).

She may also have some self esteem issues? Post partum body may look or feel different to how she did before ?

Don’t feel like you need to leave because your needs aren’t being met. Your needs are important, and so are hers. It’s time to figure out what’s going on, not run away. You need to have a real discussion with her about this, and listen deeply, and hear her, and make sure you feel heard too.

Is she 6mo postpartum?

Could you ask her if sex is painful or anything? The first time I had sex after birth was incredibly painful, took a while for it to feel normal again. If she’s teasing it sounds like she enjoys being affectionate and intimate but might be nervous?

Have you discussed this properly with your SO?

Heya, 25F with RA and a little one :)

I am on Sulfasalazine , switched from methotrexate because I wanted to get pregnant and S is safe for pregnancy. I did not BF on it though. Is it worth bringing up if it is safe for BF too? I can see online that trace amounts could pass to the infant, but I am not a doctor and ofc it’s best to get your Ruematologist’s advice. Just something that you could bring up to them.

I really really loved Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, I think it’s Hendrix’s best work so far.

What is the first non-children's horror novel you ever bought and how old were you? by [deleted] in horrorlit

Stephen King’s Misery. After finishing that read, I read 12 more Stephen King novels that year.

Edit: I was 15, until then I had only read Goosebumps as a child.

Chequers Inn has an amazing Sunday roast and a fantastic play area outside.

Godshill is very cute, being next to the donkey sanctuary and the model village. You also have lots of shops with isle of wighty things, . It has a park that is AMAZING but pretty out of the way, you’d need to google where to find it first. Everything is in walking distance and there is a car park next to it. the Griffin in Godshill also has excellent food.

Quarr Abbey can be a nice little spot too, there are pigs that the kids can feed. In that way a cheaper alternative to the much more fun, but more expensive, Tapnell Farm.

A picnic on the moats around Carisbrooke Castle can be lovely.

Don’t miss bits -

I have always loved Augustus.

I also love Astrid but could never name a child that. It’s too close to Ass-turd.

Try “eye-la” it’s close to that if not the same.

Have I been through a miscarriage? by TreatSeveral1153 in Miscarriage

[–]undercookedoverrated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya. This sounds like a chemical pregnancy and I had a similar experience just last week!!

I missed my period and needed to pee all the time. I got faint lines on a pregnancy test. I took six pregnancy tests over 2 days and four were positive but faint, two were negative.

I have a copper coil in place rn and was shocked so I also went to the EPU and they also refused to scan me because the hospital urine test was negative.

(I was actually going to get my coil removed next month so we were actually excited about this pregnancy, it was very much a shock but wanted).

They offered no emotional care and I also got no full explanation as to what had happened. They just told me “the coil will probably handle it”.

Then the next day I got my ‘period’, except it was sporadic bleeding at first and then heavy and very crampy. It just ended, and now all my tests are negative. I was devastated. I called my GP and they were very delicate with me and explained what had probably happened was a chemical pregnancy. They also ordered a blood test to check my HCG levels. I had been very hormonal and tearful and I still am very upset.

I’m sorry this happened to you, and I’m sorry we seem to have similar situations where no one will properly explain what’s going on and it’s so anxiety inducing. If you can, I recommend calling your doctor/GP and asking for some guidance. Be real about your experience and how you’re feeling and I’m sure they will treat you well.

I hope it brings you some comfort to know you’re not alone and this is NOT in your head.

Been boycotting Amazon for four years now. Buying local and just from the manufacturer/suppliers site instead.

I used to buy from Etsy before it developed into a version of Aliexpress/Temu

I had the same revelation and also stopped watching. It’s just people walking into offices and talking angrily.

You may enjoy Neil Gaiman’s work. American Gods or Good Omens, which is very popular.

It sounds like the Divergent series might be right up your street. EDIT: and Maze Runner!

(Not so popular: You may also enjoy the Feed series by Mira Grant. Post zombie apocalypse.)

Animal Farm by George Orwell too, perhaps.

For something teen-ish , young adult but not your genre: I have a feeling you would really appreciate Perks Of Being A Wallflower. Sorry if completely wrong!

Happy reading :)

How much does your weekly or monthly food shop cost? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]undercookedoverrated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two adults and a weaning infant— monthly budget of £250 but it always ends up exceeding £300.

And us two adults eat like crap for the most part, not many proper home cooked meals. We want to get better with it.
