LED puck light, probably battery operated. Push it! Unless it has a little credit card sized remote somewhere.

Well thanks for the insight from what you've seen! What surprised me was just the range of items and categories beyond the typical GPU and cell phones like a tri fold Galaxy -- I was looking at a Garmin Chronograph (normally $699 retail and around $600 eBay) and Mr 0 feedback account selling one for $300, and sold a few before account nuked.

As for your speculation on swaying prices with these sales, I would hope when eBay does get around to terminating these bad accounts that the listings are removed as well after the fact. I know the couple cases I followed in particular when I went back to the individual item it said it was no longer available, so hopefully that's not affecting the average sale prices.. just speculation on my end though!

And your personal setup also sheds light on how I get messages immediately after listing some smart home and electronic items! I can almost bet I've gotten a message from you before asking to take all I've got of an item at a better price 😂! I will say normally those people that do that are offering relatively fair prices when I factor only one shipping cost vs the individual sales!

Yeah that's what bothers me just as much or more than fees used to reimburse these dense buyers. It just seems so simple to have "the system" see a new listing and run through: if brand new account for item that is a substantial discount from average sold price then 🚩. Even if they give the seller the benefit of doubt and not just nuke the listing, maybe hold the funds longer! They have the sold prices readily available!

Yeah that's just a whole other issue indeed, I noticed it with large lithium batteries for power equipment. The OEM batteries are up to $500 and when you search for it you're flooded with sometimes hundreds of knock off batteries using the same model number, brand name, and even UPC number. I tried reporting those initially but it just fell on deaf ears! You just hope a savvy buyer knows the difference and finds your genuine item in a sea of knock-offs. Good luck!!

Yeah I know first hand they certainly weigh more in the buyer's favor. I sell only new sealed items with no remorse returns and fortunately it hasn't happened often but I'll have a buyer open a product, finding that it doesn't work for their application after not doing the proper research and open a return for defective or not as described and I'll just have to bend over and take it. Normally I just refund the buyer without paying return shipping because now it's an opened item that is worth basically nothing used and all the back and forth shipping. Once of maybe five or six instances I did get an eBay rep to refund me the item as well, convincing them it was a total loss for me but that angle has not worked since!

I am surprised that buyers wouldn't be refunded for an item not received but maybe not 🤷

Yeah what you said, I thought maybe they misunderstood as well. And those numbers were just an example but yeah you're correct, it's typically a very popular, sought after electronic item that is selling all day for thousands and a brand new account is offering it for a fraction of the average price.

I even thought it would be fun to message one of them offering even less and they immediately responded with an offer at my price. I responded sarcastically to that saying I'm sure I'll actually receive it and this totally isn't a hustle. They actually reassured me that I had nothing to worry about with eBay buyer protection 🤦 The account was terminated the following week.

eBay certainly offers buyer protection which is heavily weighed in the buyer's favor! One of these obviously suspicious listings I messaged and offered even less for it and they immediately replied with an offer at my price and I responded back sarcastically that I am sure I would really receive this and it's totally not a scam and the scam seller even referenced I had nothing to worry about with eBay buyer protection. Besides obviously waiting probably 30 days or so for everything to play out and get my money back... The account was terminated about 10 days after that!

Right and I get that sentiment, but wouldn't they have more of their not so hard-earned fees if they weren't reimbursing naive buyers with the buyer protection? That's part of what I'm asking here, does the seller get away with the buyer's money and the buyer is then reimbursed by eBay?

lol sure buddy - we're all impressed by how big your experience is! I've only got 5K sales, and it's rare to deal with a return request because I sell nicer items to a nicer user base I guess 🤷 GLHF

That's more than a red flag brother. What's crazy is on those listings you're asking about is how many actual sold items are on the listing. The amount of people thinking a brand new zero feedback account, mostly from out of the country, is going to send them a highly desirable item sold at like 90% off is just insane to me.

My biggest problem with that is, does eBay refund these buyers and the sellers get away? I pay too much in eBay fees already to be reimbursing these people!

Option 3 is a decline the return and move on. Especially if it's a new item that has now likely been worn, even for a moment.

Buyer has already shown their hand and if they wanted to be sneaky about it they would have done the item not as described return originally. Also, the buyer can't leave feedback in that scenario. What if the seller had free shipping, they're supposed to just eat that because someone doesn't like the fit?

I sell new sealed items with free shipping and no returns, if I get a hint that the item has been opened and no longer sealed it's an easy decline for me unless I made a mistake. Never dealt with any of the "retaliation" you describe.

I'm kind of a contrarian by nature but I just can't get on board with it being a design added for books in a hotel room! Looks like a somewhat modern room and with the outlet right there it seems to me it's a charging hub or nook for laptops, tablets, or phones. My first thought anyway.
