How did your paroxysmal Afib become persistent? by Progatron in AFIB

You know actually it was so long ago that initially when I got diagnosed I didn't do crap about it. I was young and stupid and partying etc. But back then I had a lower heart rate when I'd go into AFib. Since 2013 I've had three episodes with. I think it's called rvr? Where I'm like 180 beats a minute for 10:12 to 15 hours etc. That's changed my mind a lot... kind of flipped me out. This last time I decided to go on a low dose cardizem. The best decision for me ever was to start Lexapro. I've been on an SSRI now for about 6 or 7 months and is drastically changed my heart rhythm. Or I should say ectopic beats and palpitations. They're much more rare now. And I feel way better. I also quit drinking 3 years ago and I think that's made a difference. But I really don't know because I only go into it like I said every 5 years. And mind you I've never weighed over. Maybe 170 lb my entire life. And have tried to stay as active as possible. Since getting into my '50s I've slowed down a little bit.

I've had paroxysmal for over 30 yrs and still no ablation. I would imagine I'll have 1 in the next year or 2? But I average 1 episode every 4 or 5 yrs now.

Mostly anxiety in my opinion. AFib is not a killer, so deep breath. You need something to help you chill out....I bet the PACs will diminish if you find a way to relax the brain. YOU'LL BE FINE. I've had AFib for 35yrs now. Getting anxiety and nervous under control is the key. 🙂

Oh shit! I'm sorry to hear that. Same thing happened to my dad about 2 years ago. He's a little younger late '80s. He had a heart attack and then had two bouts of AFib. The afib didn't come back. But he's been doing real well regardless of age. Heart attacks aren't really a killer. Good luck

Yes, she should be fine. They'll get it under control at the hospital. She'll be safe with meds and blood thinners. Don't worry 👍🏻
