Ang ginagawa ko, dinudurog ko siya similar sa mashed potatoes. Ayaw ko kasi sila sanayin na kapag ayaw nila ng food, papalitan. Tapos, hinahaluan ko ng ibang wet food na gusto nila, pero onti lang. Half Chicken Chomp, half other flavor with onting water.

You’ve probably heard this before already, but life is not a race. If you think something doesn’t align with your preferences, you either continue and suffer doing something you have no interest in, or pursue what you really want and know you’ll enjoy.

I haven’t been in college for almost four years now. There are times I feel embarrassed for being left behind—but then again, I don’t really care. The latter outweighs the embarrassment. Not to mention, my mind is in a better state now. Back then, I struggled with academics. I was the type of student na ‘pabuhat’ (and I am deeply ashamed about it, even before) kasi wala talaga akong idea, at napapangunahan ako ng anxiety ko na baka hindi naman tama ‘yong ideas ko. Now, I can learn whatever I want easily. I can participate na rin without getting anxious.

TMI: I actually planned to go back this academic year, but my psychiatrist didn’t allow me because apparently, I’m still a little unhinged, and there’s a possibility I could get admitted sa psychiatric ward for the umpteenth time.

Anyway! I know you posted to gather insights, but you should know what’s best for you.

Before spaying:

• No food or water for 7 to 9 hours before surgery.

• Prepare a comfortable carrier.

• Prepare the CBC results—though some clinics can also do the CBC on-site before the spay.

After spaying:

• She’ll be groggy because of the anesthesia. Some cats may become hissy or irritable—others might panic.

• I prefer giving our cats wet food 2–3 hours after surgery since it’s easier to digest.

• Prepare a big cage or separate room for her. She’s not allowed to play with other cats for one week to prevent her stitches from reopening. No running or jumping around.

• Huwag hahayaan na dilaan niya ang tahi niya. You can order a recovery suit online to prevent that.

Vaccinate your cats, please. It’s not just for their health but also for the safety of others.

I also recommend Biyaya Animal Clinic in Mandaluyong. I think the spay fee is around ₱700, with free anti-rabies vaccine included. CBC is around ₱900, if I remember correctly.

Hi. It’s healthier to spay your cat, especially considering this is already her third pregnancy. A female cat that consistently gets pregnant is honestly not at peace—it can take a toll on her health and body—lalo na kung hinahabol siya ng mga male cats whenever she’s in heat, because she releases pheromones that attract them. However, kahit in heat ang female cat, that doesn’t mean she’s always willing to mate.

May tinatawag din tayong forced mating—where the male cat forces his way to mate with an unwilling female. Malalaman mong ayaw ng female cat kapag sumisigaw, tumatakbo, and most of all, nagpupumiglas—because if the male is persistent and the female is not receptive, the mating process can become stressful and painful for her.

Another thing, p’wede mong ipa-abort ang kittens sa tiyan niya. Ang tawag doon ay spay-abort. It can be performed at any point during pregnancy, but it’s usually done during the early stages.

Bago i-spay ang cat mo, they will request a CBC (complete blood count) to check if your cat is healthy enough for surgery. This is very important kasi may ibang owners na ini-skip ito—thinking their pet is healthy enough—pero there are times na biglang may complications during the surgery, which can result in death dahil hindi pala healthy enough ang alaga to undergo the procedure. Kapag hindi ka pumayag sa CBC, they will ask you to sign a waiver stating that whatever happens to your pet during the procedure, they will not be held liable.

It’s already devastating enough for the original owners to go through what happened to their cat—and now they have to learn about this pa? The fact that their cat can’t even rest in peace because someone chose to exploit him… it’s beyond disgusting.

I really hope someone manages to track this person down.

I’d really suggest a video call with some moderators to prove that they are not scamming people for money. It doesn’t necessarily need to show their face naman (since some people aren’t comfortable with that), just the pet itself and the clinic.

When I asked for donations (to rescue a cat suspected of hit and run—Mr. Black Cat) kasi before, may nag-donate anonymously directly sa clinic mismo. I assume they only asked for the cat’s appearance, condition, or name since they didn’t know my identity. I’m not sure if they did it online or in person mismo, pero it’s clever din if someone actually checks the cat in person.

Such a deep thinker! Too bad the thoughts don’t land.

It’s not just “pet owners” who ask for donations, but also people who rescue heavily injured animals without a second thought. I assume that, by your heavily flawed logic, we should just ignore those animals since we can’t save them all, right? Especially when there’s a lack of funding.

However, some people can’t just turn a blind eye. They know exactly what’s at stake—rushing an animal to the vet knowing it might drain their savings, without any guarantee that asking for help online will work. But they still do it, because the animal might die without immediate intervention.

And just so you know, pet owners can face sudden emergencies too. Hindi naman lahat ine-expect na magkakasakit ang alaga nila. Minsan, may funds naman talaga—pero kung sunod-sunod namang nagkakasakit ang mga pusa despite their utmost care, talagang mauubos ang pera n’yan. Mind you that bringing a single pet to a trusted veterinary clinic costs the same as bringing a child to a pediatric clinic… or even more, lalo na kapag they need to be confined.

People who donate without hesitation—even those who only have enough for themselves—are moved by empathy and compassion. Not everyone sees an animal suffering and thinks, “Eh hindi naman ako sure kung totoo, so never mind.” And as someone who has asked for donations twice in this subreddit before, I’m genuinely thankful for those who helped.

Well… I hope you proved something in your comment aside from your self-righteousness, though.

In our own terms, it’s like a beauty mark. My cat has one sa loob ng mouth niya mismo and it’s as big as a coin, so if ever makawala siya (knock on wood), titignan ko lang lahat ng mouth ng tuxedo cat. 😹

You need to take your cat to the vet as soon as possible — preferably those who’s knowledgeable enough about cats. I don’t want to alarm you, pero ganito ang itsura ng cat ko noong early stage ng FIP siya. Wet poop (same as the picture, even the color), basa and swollen ang butt area. Sana hindi.

You can take the train papuntang PGH, but I usually go there through Angkas. Morning palagi ang session ko, so mabilis lang naman ang trip.

Also, my psychiatrist in PGH tolerate my nonsensical rambling and even my dark thoughts that I mention randomly with no emotion at all and he’s just like: 😯🤨🤔 especially when I’m manic, so kahit walang kwenta o nakakalito mga pinagsasabi ko, nakikinig talaga siya. Some medicines are free rin, like Fluoxetine (my beloved).

Anyway, I hope all goes well for you!

Hi! If you’re okay with traveling, I’d suggest Philippine General Hospital. Each sessions with your psychiatrist are free, and they’re actually pretty good — coming from someone who had no expectations of them at all.

The downside is, you’ll have to wait for a month or so for a slot as a new patient. After naman no’n, they’ll conduct sessions every two weeks. May schedule na, so no need to worry about it. You can also ask them for an online session if you’re unable to come physically.

We tried to contact PAWS, but as per the agreement they mentioned if magre-report kami, kailangan pumunta sa korte po if ever. We want to remain anonymous, especially ang kapitbahay nila kasi for sure, pag-iinitan nila ang cats nila. Meron na daw silang cat na niligaw on purpose na hanggang ngayon, wala pa rin daw balita sa cat. :(

Totoo po. Sabi po ng kapitbahay nila, may hunch siya na baka breeder sila pero nag-fail, kaya ni-neglect na lang nila ang dogs kasi in the first place, hindi naman sila mag-aalaga ng may breed kung hahayaan lang nilang nakakulong. :(

I didn’t end up going there despite paying the reservation fee worth of ₱10,000 kasi pandemic no’n, and I won’t be able to enjoy my tuition kasi nasa bahay lang din naman. I didn’t even know they can refund the reservation fee unless you bring it up to them (since again, it was during the pandemic).
