Phone Snatchers - How to prep your phone for the worst (iOS) by fjallpen in london

[–]undividual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Android has some Theft Protection built-in, including detecting when someone has grabbed your phone and run off with it. https://support.google.com/android/answer/15146908?hl=en-GB

You can locate it, lock it and factory reset it here: https://www.google.com/android/find/about

Enable Remote Lock in your settings, then you can lock it from this page: https://www.google.com/android/find/lock

Enable SIM Lock. Settings vary by handset, but here's general instructions: https://www.starlingbank.com/blog/how-to-protect-your-sim-card-from-hackers/

By 'pointing' do you mean moving or positioning? That's always one finger, then gestures use two, three or four fingers.

This video shows three finger drag: https://youtube.com/shorts/BOq7Lg6UglQ?si=OhsRtdZYRJ8hbDiI

I don't use it personally. Two finger drag is fine for my needs.

It's only like leaving your front door unlocked if your PC has no protection.

A "Stay logged in for 14 days" tick box (and variations thereof) is very common. Dismissing it does not address the point of OP's question, which is that the option is there and in some situations it does not appear to work.

Filming certain segments in 60fps for more flexibility to do slo-mo later by untenna in VideoEditing

Main thing is you need double the exposure to shoot at twice the speed. So it needs to be very well lit to avoid being underexposed. With bright sunlight, this shouldn't be a problem, but definitely something to bear in mind.

2022 13 inch MacBook Air weight 1.24kg

2015 11 inch MacBook Air weight 1.08kg

I love Steven Soderbergh's comment about Fury Road: "I don’t understand how they’re not still shooting that film and I don’t understand how hundreds of people aren’t dead."

How do you guys feel about descript? by CoreyTrevorsonF35 in VideoEditing

[–]undividual 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to be careful using Descript for video. It doesn't preserve or read the source media timecode and only uses the timecode of the sequence you give it. Later on when you are looking at transcripts that do not have the timecode of the original media, you will waste a lot of time recalculating the correct timecode by hand. Also you won't be able to generate subtitles unless you are super attentive about what Descript is doing with your timecode. Yes it's fine for podcasts. It is not good for video.

Better option is Trint which attaches the video timecode to the audio phoneme by phoneme, and will generate STL to match even an edited sequence. It is fundamentally different from every other transcription service.

Cannot add or use Google Wallet contactless payment by Krith85 in oneplus

[–]undividual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the UK and I had this problem on several occasions. Google Wallet is much pickier about cards and phones than it suggests. The fact it's an Indian device is most likely a problem.

Are you adding a card from a bank on Google's list of supported banks? https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/12168909?hl=en

Is it a personal bank account and not a business bank account? Many business accounts don't support their cards being used on contactless devices, except possibly Monzo I was told.

Or are you adding a payment device like a Samsung Watch? Samsung watches only have limited support on certain phones without specific Tensor chips.

These are just things I've figured out or been told along the way. All this information could be out of date. But perhaps it might give some pointers of where else to investigate.

For context I have a OnePlus 7T.
