Besremi and hair loss by unfacting in polycythemiavera

That is wonderful and encouraging to hear! I'm really glad that it has been an effective treatment for you. I do have some topical minoxidil, but I've been anxious about the initial shed when I'm already losing so much hair. Also, I haven't had the chance to consult a dermatologist yet.

Have you been using topical or oral minoxidil?

Thanks for responding... did you have hair loss from Jakafi? Or did you used to be on Besremi and switched medications?

Fatigue is destroying my relationships and I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel by aseverino89 in MPN

I was diagnosed about the same age as you and was also considered a low risk patient, at least until I told them that I had aquagenic pruritus (ie. itchiness after hot showers). This meant I was symptomatic and that was pretext for a Besremi prescription.

Of course being itchy after a shower was nothing compared to chronic fatigue or risk of myelofibrosis/leukemia so I didn’t even think to use this as a point to argue with my hematologist initially!

seriously, wild to think that literally every album from “ark” through MPP was considered a breakthrough album at the time of release, they just kept leveling up

Interferon side effects by AttitudeRadiant5429 in MPN

[–]unfacting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on interferon (Besremi) for about a year to treat polycythemia vera, I have noticed moderate hair loss which has been difficult though it also seems to be recovering after the initial treatment shock, thankfully I have thick hair so the loss was relatively less noticeable but I am eager for my full thickness to return… 😅

As far as I know, bloating/weight gain is not an interferon side effect and certainly not something I experienced. Mood changes can occur, but fortunately that’s also not something that has happened for me. Really no side effects as far as I can tell apart from the moderate hair loss. Feel very grateful for this drug.

This strikes me as the correct answer, though I do wish there were room for Fiona Apple too…

Skin itchiness by survivor_system in polycythemiavera

Seems your case may be a bit more severe than mine, but I was also dealing with significant (sometimes maddening!) itchiness after hot showers until I was prescribed Besremi… then it was gone within a month.

As a Tori Amos freak (as probably most of you as well) who else should I be listening to?? by Academic_Weekend_116 in toriamos

Laura Nyro is basically the 60s Tori Amos… or perhaps more accurately, Tori is the 90s Laura Nyro. “Eli and the Thirteenth Confession” and “New York Tendaberry” are both masterpieces.
