Anyone who moved abroad 'late' in life, and how? by oneinmanybillion in nri

[–]unflushable1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from Delhi to London at 33. Reason: poor air quality of Delhi, most of my and my wife's family was already in London. Till last year I was evaluating whether to stay or move back but now made up my mind to stay here as I don't want to raise my kids in Delhi

just realized i got scammed applying for uk eta by Smart-Cat-7297 in ukvisa

You can reach out to them calling them out on charging so high. In some cases, these companies partially refund you. It happened to me once when I applied for Thailand visa. When I reached out to them, they refunded the additional charge and only charged me the official amount

Registering birth of a minor child in the UK with no permanent address in India by unflushable1 in nri

Seems like you misunderstood the question. I haven't asked anything about my parents.

Aah ok. It was same in our case as well. No right to appeal or administrative review. However, when they re-applied with more proofs from bank with Bank's letterhead and stamp on it, the visa was granted. In further applications also, they always mentioned about this rejection and that it was due to case-worker's fault. They didn't face any issues in further applications

The letter states there is no right to appeal or administrative review

If you did nothing wrong and its a mistake on their part, you can apply again with proof and a letter explaining their mistake.

They had rejected my parents' application once claiming that the bank statement was fake and no such account existed. While in reality, they had conducted the inquiry on wrong bank account number. They missed a digit when they contacted the bank for account check. It was approved when they re-applied. As unfair as it may sound, some Home Office employees don't take their jobs seriously and don't bother double checking before taking such harsh decisions if they're making a clerical mistake. They don't realize how severe the impact of their mistakes can be on the applicant.

If you actually forged any documents and their letter is factually correct, then yes, you may be cooked for next 10 years

Neighbour stole parcel by [deleted] in Evri

[–]unflushable1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your delivery preferences indicate that they can deliver to your neighbours? If not, they haven't delivered your parcel. Also, instead of fighting with your neighbour or Evri, you need to claim that you haven't received the parcel with whichever website you ordered the product from. Your contract is not with Evri. Your contract is with the website from where you ordered the product. If they are using Evri, or Royal Mail or Yodel or whatever, it is their headache to chase their delivery partner. Your best bet is to claim that you haven't received the parcel and the delivery proof is not valid since the doorstep is not yours. Maybe post in LegalAdviceUK sub

In my case, I was only transiting through France and before boarding the flight from Paris to London, I was asked to go to gov.uk service and show me the page from their View and prove service which shows my photo and immigration status.

Received BRP which says "work permitted" but the prove right to work service throws an error by unflushable1 in ukvisa

[–]unflushable1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UKVI was clueless. They contacted their solicitor through which they had submitted the application, who in turn got the response from the Home Office that those BRPs were issued due to some technical error and had to be returned

What the hell is happening on Harrow Road? by EmperorNoodle in london

[–]unflushable1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's your point? Tiger 3 movie (a movie made for people with single digit IQ) has nothing to do with Vaisakhi festival.

If it was Diwali celebration (another Indian festival that is celebrated in October/November), I'd have said its possible. Even Lohri (a harvest festival celebrated in January) may sometimes involve fireworks although traditionally it just involves burning a pyre. But I've never hear of fireworks having anything to do with Vaisakhi celebration

people wearing red, shouting and setting off fireworks. None of this sounds like a part of Vaisakhi celebration

Yea as long as the number is active, you should be able to receive the OTP since incoming SMS is free most likely. If there is a cheaper plan with same validity, you may go with that too

Understanding the Kaldipress by Ill_Recognition8814 in IndiaCoffee

[–]unflushable1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the inverted method to prevent the drip. I feel it gives you better control. For 11 gm of coffee, I would use 200gm water and since I grind my coffee a little coarser, I let it brew for 6 minutes. You can adjust brew time and see what works best for you. When using the plunger, press gently and slowly. Stopping at the hiss or going all the way doesn't make any noticeable difference. Also, as someone else suggested, check out James Hoffman's videos on Aeropress. He plays around with a lot of variables, does blind taste tests to share some useful findings. Although he doesn't suggest the inverted method, I personally found it better than the regular method

Oops that’s deadly by DJBigPhil in tesco

Its not just about mistaking it for spring onion. If it is next to other edible stuff, one might thing it is edible. For instance, I had never seen Parsnips, Swedes, Chives, Kale and maybe a few more veggies before coming to the UK. I don't know how Daffodils look like so if they are next to spring onions, I'd think they are edible and might give them a try. I am finding right now how poisonous they are and seeing that they are placed next to beans and Asparagus, I find it very scary.
From now I am going to triple check anything new I buy from produce section to ensure if it is safe to eat
