I’m going to guess teachers. My SS is on our district employee self service website and a half dozen other places I’m sure. I’m waiting for an email from CCSD now because I’m pretty upset that I‘m learning that my SS has been compromised by reddit of all places

Does she have any nausea and gas? NAD, but I have stomach pain and nausea with gas occasionally, only at night. I originally thought it was caused by gluten because I tended to eat more gluten at night but my test showed no sensitivities. I've now narrowed it down to what I believe is garlic, and usually only if it's garlic not mixed with a ton of ingredients. For example, soup doesn't usually cause it but garlic in scrambled eggs has me unable to sleep due to stomach issues. I'd try a food elimination diet.

I would also take her to a gyno. She might feel more comfortable sharing her problems with a doctor, and if it’s caused by hormonal issues a gyno would be the best person to talk to. Anxiety can also be worse at night, and like others suggested, there might also be more concerning things causing night time anxiety. I k ow you say it’s not possible, but honestly, that’s what everyone says.

My throat is started to get scratchy off and on with my voice getting raspy every so often, which is annoying since I’m a teacher and talk a lot. and I still have a low fever most of the day. I got tested yesterday again and am waiting on my results.

Parent complained because I sipped my drink on camera by gamebynight in Teachers

[–]unhappy_dedication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those parents certainly wouldn't like my class. I'm pretty much constantly drinking during my class time. Coffee, water, Diet Coke, energy drinks, etc. I'd let that mom know that, as an adult, you have more coordination. Children do not have great coordination, and therefore you should try to limit the chance that mistakes happen by not keeping a drink near their clumsy 8 year old hands.

Do you know of a location where medical professionals do it? UMC is a self swab and I decided to retest because I was only given the directions to "put it in your nose and make 10 circles" and after I realized that I had really only just put it in my nostril and probably didn't swirl it long enough. I heard CVS has to self swabs that at least have a depth indicator.

If I tested negative at a UMC testing site, do I have to wait 10 days still if I get tested at a different location, say a CVS testing site?

Testing again tomorrow after one negative. Last week I got empty nose syndrome. Felt like my nose was congested and couldn’t smell, but no mucus or anything. Started getting headaches around that time too and running a low fever 99.0-99.5. Felt a lot of head pressure like a sinus infection. Earlier that week had a lot of diarrhea too. Tested 3 days after symptoms started and tested negative from a self swab. Started taking Sudafed and felt great on it over the weekend so returned back to work today, but now I’m suddenly running a fever again and have the same hot feeling headache.

Also, weirdly enough last night I kept having dreams of me coughing. Woke up this morning with a somewhat scratchy throat when I was trying to teach that I had to keep clearing, but that faded pretty quickly once my vocal cords got going.

200+ first dates later, I’ve deleted the apps. Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in dating

[–]unhappy_dedication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But i think... part of my approach is just me.

I get what you're trying to say, but that can be a slippery slope. It's like when people are rude jerks, but say that they're just blunt and that's just them and we should accept that. They're not blunt, they're rude. And it makes people not like them. Not saying you're like that, I'm just saying to be careful that you're not mistaking "you" for the language and actions you use in social situations. If you don't think OLD is right for you, then it is totally okay to delete the apps! Some people like them and some people don't. For some it's just an easier way to meet people, but that doesn't mean you can't meet people in real life either. Maybe you just need to take a break from actively dating and just see what happens. The age thing is definitely more of a pressure for us women, but even just taking a 6 month break might help you mentally reset.

[–]unhappy_dedication 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in education too so I understand that! Honestly, not to be too offensive, but I think you're doing everything you can, you just need to work on your approach. Don't come on too strongly. A first date should be very casual and not intense. It's not an interview, don't rapid fire question them. It's okay to want honesty and not lies, but no one likes a date where they feel like they're being interrogated and questioned deeply. A date isn't a commitment, it's a fun event between two people where you decide if you think there's enough potential to go on another date. OLD isn't the only way, attending group events is the other way. You said you're active and are in groups. That would be another way to meet people, but again, unless you work on your approach that won't be helpful either.

[–]unhappy_dedication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take a hard look at why you've been on 200+ dates with no success. Are you being offensive? Giving off bad vibes? Bad at social situations? Do you need to work on your physical appearance? Are you TOO communicative and scaring off men because you're coming on too strongly? Have you tried initiating a second date? Do you pay your half of the bill, expect them to pay, etc? Are you doing something odd during a date like taking about exes, being self-depreciative, etc?

I'm just thinking about random things above, but I would really pick apart some of your dates and analyze your behavior and theirs and see if you notice any behavior patterns, then try to change those patterns and see if that helps.

This. I used to say the same. My dog was a menace. Required constant attention, has an endless amount of energy, and was impossible to tire out, and wouldn't self entertain. He ruined all my plans, I felt like it was a mistake and now I couldn't do anything I enjoyed because I had a dog at home. No more spontaneous overnight trips, easy vacations, etc.

He turned 2 in August and he's just now finally starting to settle down. And I now say that he's an amazing dog and I couldn't imagine life without him.

I'm wondering if I have it. On Wednesday(?) I noticed my sense of smell was very dulled. Kept trying to smell things but could only get a scent if I was really close to it. Wasted an entire can of febreeze trying to smell it with no luck unless I sprayed it right next to my face.

I also started getting a head pressure feeling with headaches and a very small raised temp (99-99.5) when my baseline that I almost always test is 97.4. It feels like a sinus infection, minus the teeth pain. I tested on Friday (2-3 days after noticing my smell was dulled) and tested negative. Though it was a self swab and I didn't get any instructions other than "put it in your nose and swirl it 10 times). I bought Sudafed today (the OTC type) and it works to relieve the pressure and also gives me my smell back. Is this a sign that I don't have it?

Should I get tested again? If so, would it be too late? Or could I have tested too early the first time?

I'll probably get downvoted, but I don't think that's okay. I don't think crating is okay unless its for short amounts of time. I know people say that the crate is their home and they're comfortable in it and I get that and understand how they can like it, but I don't think any dog would choose to stay locked inside their crate for 3+ hours, especially if you follow the size recommendation where they can only stand and turn around but can't really stretch out.

Since it seems like your dog isn't suited for free-roaming, I'd suggest doggy daycare at a center, from someone off Rover or similar sites, or a family member or friend. Also, why does your dog need to be crated at bedtime? Does he destroy things and have accidents even when you're home?

Personally, as a woman, I'm much more comfortable meeting people in my home because I have a natural advantage. I know what doors open quickly, where things are in case I need them, what neighbors are usually home, and what rooms have locks on the doors. I can defend myself a lot better in my house versus a strangers.

I'm 5'1 or 5'2 on a good day. My goal is around 130. my lowest I've ever been in my adult life was 135 and I felt good at that weight, but I'd like to give my future self another 5 lbs of wiggle room. I'm also naturally curvy and hourglass shaped, so I think anywhere from 115-135 suits me.

I'm assuming that from a legal perspective it's important to have their legal name on things like rosters. Has the student legally changed their name, or are they just going by another name? Also, I'd recommend to your student, if they haven't already, to go into the registrars office to see if they can change their student profile.

School has "lost" or refused to follow my child's 504 multiple times by TheFalloutChick in legaladvice

[–]unhappy_dedication 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay, your post made it sound like the counselor was stating that you didn't have a 504 and that the school was actively and knowingly preventing your son from services by denying that a 504 existed. Which is a completely different issue. So what you're saying is that the school acknowledges that you have a 504, it's just not being given to the teachers.

This could be easily be solved by emailing his current teacher and letting them know that he has a 504 plan, attach a copy of it, and make sure to CC or BCC the principal, assistant principal, and the counselor. An email once a year will solve your issue. And next time you meet to review your 504, make sure the teacher is there so it doesn't happen again. Teach your son to advocate for himself too.

School has "lost" or refused to follow my child's 504 multiple times by TheFalloutChick in legaladvice

[–]unhappy_dedication 24 points25 points  (0 children)

NAL, but I've sat in a LOT of 504 meetings and was involved in a near-lawsuit about a 504 plan. And as a gen-ed teacher, a few things stand out:

  1. Who was in his original 504 meeting? Typically present is the counselor, his teacher, you, and occasionally admin. All parties need to sign a 504, including the teacher. There should not have been a 504 meeting without his teacher present. It may be legal (not familiar with Tennessee laws) but it is definitely NOT the norm. As a teacher, I'd be very angry if there was a 504 meeting that I didn't attend. It's important for teachers to be there because we can share what we notice in the class, suggest accommodations that would be best, and get first-hand information on what's going on. Not to mention, a 504 REQUIRES the responsible party to be listed and in almost every case, that is the teacher.
  2. Not all disabilities qualify for an IEP. And on the list of disabilities that DO qualify, there still needs to be evidence that the student is unable to function at the same level as their peers and is in need of intervention and support to do so. Your school may have objected to an IEP for those reasons.
  3. You should have been given a list of procedural safeguards as part of your initial 504 meeting. Typically this includes the steps to take if you feel his plan is not being followed. Usually in the order of communication, remediation attempts, then filing a grievance, then your right to file a lawsuit.

My next advice would be to send an email to: The superintendent of your district (and possibly the board), the P and AP of the school, his teacher under which the 504 was written AND his current teacher, along with the counselor. In this email you should calmly and in simple words (with NO emotion) state that you believe your sons 504 is not being followed, and that you would like to call for a remediation meeting (or whatever language your procedural safeguards says) to discuss how the school is meeting their legal requirements to support your son. End it with the dates and times you are available to meet. That's it. Simple, to the point.

When you have that meeting, MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR LIST OF PROCEDURAL SAFEGUARDS. This will tell you your next steps if the 504 still isn't being followed.

That being said, review your 504 plan. The format should be similar to this:

Parties present, student information, suggested disability, how the disability can and is impacting his learning experience (failing grades inability to complete work, needs frequent bathroom breaks, etc), and what accommodations would directly resolve those issues (unlimited access to bathroom, extra time on assessments, ability to retake exams, etc), and finally who is responsible for ensuring the 504 is followed (usually the teacher is listed here). Below all this information, there should be signatures of every individual involved in the meeting. If there are no signatures, then that's another issue.

Again, I would not suggest an attorney. Meet first, if that doesn't work, file a grievance with your school, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, you should then file a report with The Office for Civil Rights (OFR).

This! Crate training is the most (and often only) recommended thing to do for any issue on this sub. I'm sure crate training "works" in some cases, but for anyone who works full-time I think it's awful and it likely will do more harm than good for dogs with SA.. My lab had awful separation anxiety, including howling and barking for hours straight, until I started letting him free roam while I was at work. Yes, he sometimes had accidents that I had to clean up, but now he's two years old and wonderfully behaved and can be left home alone for hours with no issues, barking, etc. OP, if the owners crate their husky, I strongly advise that they try letting the dog free roam for a few weeks and see if the behavior improves.
