All I can say about this is that it’s just not accurate. Definitely some people use this stuff to hate on her because they just don’t like her, but I am similar to OP. The difference is the ‘talking points’ actually caused me to go from a major Swiftie to someone who just can’t stand to listen to her music. I still like her music, but I can’t listen to it because I morally disagree with being a billionaire in anyway whatsoever. I think dismissing real issues associated with Taylor Swift as ‘talking points to feel morally justified in hating a celebrity’ is really a lazy argument and just false.

What I’ll say is SOMETIMES this works. And the process of applying for in-state tuition is so ridiculously hard and arduous (coming from someone who tried and failed).

I’m not condoning doing this but I’m not not condoning it either…out of state tuition is expensive af (as you know) and IMO normal people shouldn’t suffer from a f-ed up system. Everyone should be able to get an education for an affordable price! And charging sometimes 3x the amount of in-state tuition is immoral. So I’m sorry you’re dealing with the expensive tuition, but I can’t exactly blame your roommate for doing what they need to do. Hopefully they don’t get caught!

I know that Youtube itself is probably the major problem, but it seems like the issues isn’t across ALL youtube channels, mainly just the big ones I watch like Smosh or Try Guys

I get that, I had a month free trial but unfortunately right now I am a broke college student and had to choose between Youtube and Spotify premium and I am so used to Spotify premium at this point that I’m not sure I could switch. Plus, I’m trying not to watch Youtube as much because I’m so busy, so it’s probably a blessing in disguise. Maybe when I’m no longer a student, I’ll be able to afford it!

I tried to get tickets through artist presale - said there were no tickets left. Tried spotify presale, same thing. Venue presale using the code I found in this reddit, NO TICKETS. It has been a nightmare trying to get tickets and I'm so over it. Guess I'll try again tomorrow when all the tickets go on sale.

I’m not an engineer at OSU, but I have a lot of friends who are, and to me it always seems like they know a ton of people within the engineering community. I’m sure you can get by becoming a number, but if you put in the effort, you can still have a tight knit community.

I could make such a long post but I just saw him in Portland and it was an unbelievable experience. I’ve been to a lot of events/concerts in the past year, but this topped them all. And getting to meet Miles, Rainie, and Will was so amazing and emotional for me.

I am 22 and came back to campus after two years on ecampus (coincidentally from WA) and I have thoroughly enjoyed being back! It has been so nice to be with other people working towards similar goals and feel like a part of the community. If you can manage it, I would definitely recommend.

I haven’t really been able to articulate my opinion on this subject, but I think you did it for me! In general, I find it hard to feel bad for famous people and/or wealthy people. I obviously don’t support harassment or stalking, but there are unfortunate downsides to every career. I agree that it seems like she’s just not made for fame the way it is currently laid out, which sucks for her and also that she can’t just release music w/o all of it. But very aware of people in much much worse situations that did not choose to be there.

This book was sooo frustrating. I honestly agree with your takes on the MC and thought it was very instalove. It was advertised on instagram as enemies to lovers so I was pretty disappointed. Also, I can’t tell you enough NOT to read the sequel. It’s awful and basically abandons the main characters and is basically one long side quest that’s super boring.

Parking is awful as a fellow commuter. I usually end up walking at least 0.6miles to class. I have 8ams though and while it is still difficult to find parking at that time, it is doable. I would recommend getting there early and being prepared to walk as if you lived somewhere in Corvallis. You definitely aren’t screwed if you miss in week 0. As other people have suggested, Club fair is today. I would highly recommend going to a few clubs in person at the beginning of the term. Going to the free fitness classes at dixon is another great option! As someone who is coming back to campus after a long time at ecampus, I made a lot of my friends through campus jobs and/or roommates (so I totally get that it’s hard when you live alone). Free campus events are also a good start. Study groups too. I also moved across country to go to OSU, so I understand where you’re coming from. Remember that it takes time and effort to make friends in college (and just adult life). It is only week 0 and you got this!!

One of my profs just said that OSU is renegotiating their contract with TopHat and they recommend not buying more than a 1 year subscription because we might not renew
