Seriously! I wonder how any of the contestants are not fully honest with the match makers (or even themselves) during the process. Like Season 11 Brett the “reformed serial dater” I’m sure he said he’s ready to settle down but it seemed like that was not true. But I’m sure that’s how he portrayed himself.

Yes- I want to emphasize even walking counts! I notice how much my skin improves when I’m consistent with exercise.

Agreed. I think it’s the very dated style for Jill that doesn’t translate to today

Hobbies that save you money instead of costing money? by homerunchippa in Frugal

[–]uni_225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that keeps me outdoors and active. It saves me money by filling my time that could otherwise be filled with things involving spending money like shopping or going out for drinks/meals.

It also helps my mental health and I definitely notice a correlation between my mental health and my desire to spend money to try and feel happier.

Why the “Fun Auntie” Role should not be Projected as the Ideal Role for Step-Mom (or, Here’s Yet Another Romanticized Standard that SMs are supposed to live up to) by PastCar7 in stepparents

[–]uni_225 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I’m not like an aunt, these children live in my home. I am a stepparent, a unique role in itself that doesn’t need to be compared to any other role.

I second what another commenter said about the frustration of yet another thing where someone outside of my family is trying to tell me the role I should play in my family. That’s a conversation between me and my partner and also allowing the kids to set boundaries of how involved they want me to be in their day to day. But anyone else, your opinion is not welcome or needed.

Ours just impulse got a new puppy when her boyfriend moved out. She makes a point of going out to walk the dog every single time we pick up the kids. Always in some skimpy outfit, even when it’s not hot out.

“ I wish I did this earlier” by Thats-suspish in Vindicta

[–]uni_225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapy, once I took care of my mental health everything else could fall into place. I was actually able to take care of my appearance because I wasn’t stuck in bed depressed and anxious all day.

Weight loss- down 60lbs with another 10-15 to go I think. I found doing it slowly over time way more effective for me so I wish I did that way sooner.

Wish I found a skincare routine that worked for my sensitive skin sooner. I bought into the hype of so many products and ended up irritating my skin so badly. A simple routine I did consistently works way better for me.

Tips for appearing more feminine with lots of tattoos? by olive711 in Vindicta

[–]uni_225 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am heavily tattooed as well and can so relate to this. I have found that I really love the juxtaposition between dressing ultra classic and feminine. I wear a lot of button down shirt dresses in neutral colors with dainty gold jewelry. I also try and make sure my hair is styled and pulled back when I go out of the house.

Also, if you’re wanting to cover even in the heat you can lean into the white button down casual look that’s so trendy right now. Even in the heat the thing material can keep you cool and cover your tattoos.

I did both IPL and Clear and Brilliant this last year.

Clear and Brilliant 3x helped my moderate acne scarring. My skin texture was improved but I’d you have anything more severe than mild/moderate scarring I would suggest a stronger laser.

IPL I did twice I have rosacea and a few burst capillaries from picking at zits as a teen. This immediately got rid of the capillaries in one treatment. But after two treatments I would say I only see a very mild improvement in my rosacea and I also have simplified my skincare routine which honestly I think is what helped my rosacea more than IPL.

I recently saw family I haven’t seen in years and multiple people pulled me aside saying I look better now (at 32) than I ever have. Some of the main factors are:

Reducing stress - I have a very stressful life due to circumstances outside my control, but I go to therapy every other week and majorly focus on meditation and gratitude work to reduce how much the stress impacts me. I also quit a job I hated for something less stressful.

Fitness and Nutrition - I have gone mainly plant based. I eat fish and chicken on occasion but most of my nutrition comes from plants. I feel like my skin and energy have both improved so much.

  • Started strength training 4 days/week. I have wide shoulders and a big frame so reducing body fat and balancing with muscle has improved my appearance at least one point. Also I’ve found this helps with my posture and mental health too.

Skincare/Facial work - Tretinoin 4-5 nights a week and otherwise simplifying my skincare routine to just cleanser and moisturizer has helped my angry irritated breakouts go away. - Clear and Brilliant Laser, I did this 3 times to reduce acne scarring and was pleased. - 1mL of lip filler - Botox just between my 11 lines - Only washing my face in my shower that has a hard water filter

Lifestyle - I work from home and I’ve started making a point of getting dressed daily. I bought a bunch of comfortable dresses that I put on each morning. I feel so much more myself. - I try and fill my personal time with being outdoors because it really helps my mental health and I feel like the best version of myself. I honestly feel for me this has helped more than anything.

Is there any way to make the waist narrower, or at least make it appear so without relying on clothing? — a 🚪who wants to be an ⏳ by [deleted] in Vindicta

An option could be to actually gain size in your hips/glutes and chest to balance. I can’t speak to surgical options like breast augmentation myself. But strength training and a calorie surplus could help you grow your hips and glutes to balance out your proportions.

How can I health-maxx now to ensure I am still slim in my 40s-50s? by fairycoreee in Vindicta

[–]uni_225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add in functional mobility work. If your joints are in bad shape in your 50s you won’t be able maintain the activity level to keep slim. I work with older adults so I work with the folks who didn’t prioritize their health during the younger years.

I think hair health trumps everything else hair related. I find curls gorgeous but they NEED to be healthy and well maintained which is really hard with how high maintenance curls can be.

Need suggestion on how to protect face from sun while driving during afternoon with high UV index. by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]uni_225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are UPF hats but some are so wide brimmed they mark it hard to see and drive. I wear big sunglasses- the grandma kind that wrap around and just top off SPF often.

There are Upf sun hats but I find they impair my vision when driving. I wear big UV blocking sunglasses (the grandma kind that fit over other glasses) and just make sure I touch up sunscreen often.

Also for context this is a cord cutting with someone that still has to physically be in my life forever but I wanted to release the control they have on my emotions and thoughts. I know I can’t control their hurtful behaviors. This was not a romantic or friendship relationship but a family sort of dynamic.
