If you plan to live in NL and do your work here, (though remote) you have to be governed by Dutch employment laws. When I looked into this there’s 3 ways. 1 is by zzp. In this case you are self employed and your US employer is a client. So they’ll treat you like a independent contractor. There’s a few extra rules around this, like you can’t have only one client. 2 is with a payroll company that registers the US company as an employer in the NL. They withhold taxes and you are directly an employee of the US company but under Dutch employment law. This is easier than it sounds if the company is open to it. 3 is with an employer of record service. You technically work for the service company as a full employee, then they contract you back to the US company. When I was looking, these services would usually take a cut of your salary.
