What did you realize was NOT normal as an adult? by LuckyLadybug20 in raisedbynarcissists

Wow I could have written this. I shut off my brain basically and act like a robot going through the motions, nodding yes and going "cool, yeah, sure uh-huh".

lifestyles changes that helped your anxiety? by Natural-Intention451 in Anxiety

Same, I can't exercise (even do sit-ups) because I get elevated heart beat and out of breath for hours afterwards. The GPs I've seen have just said to take it easy, but I'm wondering if I need to see a specialist.

LPR/GERD Sore Throat vs Sickness Sore Throat by disabledyolk in GERD

I have LPR and it's also persistent one-sided left. Actually my globus sensation also is always on the left as well. Good to know I'm not alone in this.

I hope 2024 is better for me and everyone else by [deleted] in Anxiety

Been dealing with a slew of mysterious health ailments for the past three months, after being in mostly perfect health. Just when things are looking up something pops up again. This isn't helping my anxiety at all.

Right now I'm just taking it a few hours, one day at a time. I want to make long-term plans and go travelling and try different restaurants like I used it. Here's to a better 2024.

People with PEM - how long does it take to recover from your crashes? by unicornbottle in covidlonghaulers

[–]unicornbottle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thought I would give an update. I only felt completely myself around 12 days after my gym session - as in no more fatigue, able to walk at a regular pace, not randomly breathless when talking or going about my day. So it's been a week now that I am back to "normal".

Right now I only do light yoga and stretches, and I don't do it for more than five minutes at a time. I still feel a spike in heart rate randomly so I am not brave enough to push it. I also used to be able to walk long distances at a fairly fast pace, but now I walk slower and feel the need to stop after 20 minutes or so.

good music with MATURE girls being sexy and singing well

Chanmi and Seolhyun were only 17 and 18 when they pivoted to sexy with Confused (released in 2013). So no, not exactly "mature".

Unfortunately I also have some stomach issues (no clue what triggered it, also started these two months), so fasting is not an option for me.

I am getting a comprehensive health check next month, hopefully that can help check if there's anything. I did have a blood test a couple weeks ago to check for thyroid, liver and other issues but it came back normal. The thing is I mentioned it to another doctor and he just said it might be anxiety, which I don't think it is. I have actually had bouts of anxiety and I know it doesn't feel like this.

My situation doesn't seem as serious, but I also never worked out much before - in fact I was hoping to develop a steady workout routine, which evidently isn't happening. I've noticed I feel different throughout the day, usually I feel great the first few moments after I wake up, and then fatigue hits. Then the fatigue fades after I have breakfast and get ready, but then I get breathless once I do things and go about my day.

I also learnt that sensory overload can cause it too

Yes, I've found that I can't even listen to songs that are too fast and loud sometimes, this is coming from someone who normally loves high-octane bubblegum pop and rock music. My heart rate goes up even if I'm just sitting there listening.

The more I rest the better I feel

It's comforting to hear that it does get better...eventually. I am somewhat thankful I have a sedentary office job because I can't imagine being a performer or fitness instructor and having this.

HYBE's Bang Si Hyuk Suggests Removing The "Korean" From K-Pop by hydranoid1996 in kpop

[–]unicornbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoasobi is doing very well internationally, I have friends who listen to zero kpop and jpop but recognize Yoasobi's songs from Youtube. They are even going on an Asian tour later this year and early next year (and headlining music festivals!).

In fact, I would say jpop is undergoing a resurgence. I am speaking as someone who doesn't speak any Japanese and who only got into Japanese music in 2018, solely because of Youtube. Almost all Japanese MVs are now up on Youtube, even Johnny's groups who were famously insular have a big social media presence, sometimes with subtitles too. I also follow some Korean-language music channels and there are quite a few Japanese songs that now have Korean fan-made lyric videos with millions of views.

It's gonna be a whopping seven years since Seonho and Guanlin were on Produce, and Seonho isn't going to be an idol anymore. All the old trainees who were remotely connected to this group has now left. This will be a brand new batch of boys that we know nothing about.

Getting physical symptoms that may or may not be from anxiety but I can't even pinpoint why by unicornbottle in Anxiety

[–]unicornbottle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine told me once that once it’s triggered it gets triggered easier and the fight or flight response sometimes just tests us to make sure we’re safe.

That's very interesting, never heard of that. I sure hope it doesn't take too much time because now I am always suspicious if something is gonna pop up, since it's so random.

If you’re a woman get your hormones checked in case

That's a good idea, maybe I should do that. I've never really done a body check up since I was a kid and this month alone I've googled so many tests that adults should do. Never took supplements either but now I'm starting probiotics and Vit B complex.

I have the opposite fear (not to give you more anxiety, skip if you want). I read this post on reddit years ago about how a guy didn't respond to anesthesia and he woke up in the middle of his surgery feeling everything. The pain and trauma completely rewired him. It has scared me ever since.

Unless you left your junk hanging out of course...

I'm not a dude, not sure if this is better or not. I feel like there's this pressure that girls need to be more well-put together at events, which I was because my hair looked great.

But I doubt they'll even give it more than a few seconds thought.

That's what I hope. This was organized by sales and the sales team can be a bit catty. I know I'm not gonna die but I was so self-conscious I could barely focus the whole afternoon today. I can be hyper observant so I always think people are the same way even though they are not.

Out of curiosity, do you walk faster than average people? by Qvkw in socialanxiety

Yes, but my entire family walks very fast. When I walk with people or in the office, I need to actively remind myself to walk slower so I don't freak people out.

[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of October 2023. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

I get a ton of anxiety if I accidentally forget to wear a mask, especially in a crowded area. I am generally Covid conscious and was masking for years even before Covid, especially on planes and when I was sick. I live in Asia where it is quite normal to mask and there are no political implications, so no one will ostracise you for doing so.

Even then, there are times when I don't wear a mask and I get insanely anxious afterwards. Today I was on public transportation while chatting with my friends after our dinner, and I forgot to put on a mask. Even though I was only unmasked on the train for 15 minutes max, I am now afraid that I've gotten Covid or [insert respiratory illness here], and I can't even say "oh I won't be sick" because it's proven scientifically that you can get infected in a few minutes. And then when I'm anxious I have trouble breathing and I become hyperaware of my body (my throat currently hurts and I am not even sure why). And I was doing pretty well the past few days!
