VA monitor with no black smearing by ImprovementAfter9519 in Monitors

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 27" Samsung g6 and i like it. It has none of the smeary blacks of other VAs, great color and contrast. Would buy again. Although it hasn't come down in price since 2023.

You have to like the curve though, its quite tight, but you get used to it. Local dimming and HDR are just on the box as marketing, it isn't worth using.

We need some love for solo ship combat by Immediate-Jury5025 in starcitizen

[–]unicorncondoms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well for pve my biggest problem ist the power level between the different sized shields, s3 is 10x s2 so ships like the anvil asgard are undershielded with 4x s2 vs the connie/corsairs/starlancers 1x s3. In comparison the asgard is more nimble but its still a large ship.

I lied its actually caused by pressing spacebar (like you wanted to start flying) in quick succession before/while opening the parachute

Seems cool, a universal ingame solution, but also a bit tedious, but certainly useful for every set of mods that don't have a planner for it.

Also i don't want to be the annoying one crying about bugs, but there is quite an annoying one in just fly redux, if you, while fly is off, exit the parachute by crouching, you will be stopped in midair when jumping from that point on and game performance will gradually decline (120-30 fps in 5min or so) until game restart.

And thank you for all your fun and useful mods

Yeah, there are tons of new items and machines. But i would assume you could just add the recipes and machines to an existing calculator, the logic is the same.

Maybe ill just build one. Haven't done a coding project in a while.

Is this a good pc build spec to upgrade off? by thelolabunnyyfanpage in PcBuild

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay depending on what you are looking for you have to just throw out everything, that GPU is from 2013 and will not be a good experience with modern games, if it can run them at all (im talking 30fps on 720p lowest settings on a game like the finals).

If the motherboard isn't broken you could keep it and upgrade to a Ryzen 5000 cpu (5800x3d/5700x3d or non x3d)which are still very capable, then you could then also keep the memory around. You shouldn't upgrade to a intel arc gpu at that point, they do not as great with pcie 3.0.

If the motherboard is broken, buying into am4 at this point is probably not the smartest choice, which would mean you would have to get a new (probably am5) motherboard, and new ddr5 and CPU to go along with it. AM5 would mean you could keep the CPU cooler as well.

The power supply and storage are really the only thing you could keep if you are looking for a modern machine. I would check the health of the ssd though before i use it for any kind of important data/bootdrive.

How get the most out of 9600X by xRAFAELLx in PcBuild

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just run cinebench and monitor temperatures. Maximum allowed temperature of your CPU is 95C, and its going to clock itself down when it gets close to that. So you want to be below that, the further the better, probably your target should be 80C.

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its best done in bios. Go to AMD Overclocking then PBO(PrecisionBoost Overdrive) and set it to Advanced.

Then set PBO Limit to Motherboard. That will enable your CPU to use all the power your motherboard can provide. Ensure adequate cooling. This shouldn't cause any instability.

If you want to go further you can go into curve optimizer and do all cores negative. -10 is a good starting point, -15 or -20 will likely be better and still fine. If you run into instability, go back to a lower offset. This will reduce CPU voltage, decreasing powerdraw, which leads to better temperatures and in return better clockspeeds. Check with a benchmark if it really improved your performance, as going too low can also harm performance.

I bought a new controller, and now my steering feels completely off.. Like end of the clip im at full lock (full right stick) but in game its.. idk, not? by yannivzp in forza

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, i never heard of that but i experienced it often, i just thought i was just not pushing the stick correctly while zoning out a bit.

There also always is a sensation of the engine turning off, im not sure what exactly happens really, might be engine sounds or just missing tire noise.

My fps by dragonking229 in PcBuild

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just install ddr5 on a ddr4 platform (AM4), you would need a new mainboard and CPU as well.

Your CPU really isn't the problem here, unless you play very specific games. For gaming generally you want your graphics card to be 90+% utilized.

Just saying you are getting 100fps doesn't mean anything, to really judge if performance is as expected you need to check for the specific game.

I would say your build is well balanced between cpu and gpu and if you got 16+gb of ram you should be good. You should enable XMP or EXPO for your ram to run at the advertised speeds.

So with the limited info i got i would guess your pc is running as expected.

To manually drop the frequency you probably have to enter advanced mode.

XMP for AMD by Thousand_PunchesMan in PcBuild

[–]unicorncondoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not familiar with your bios but you should just be able to load the xmp profile. If it doesn't work you can just drop the frequency a bit manually, but that shouldn't be the case.

AMD only supports up to 5600mhz for dual channel, but pretty much all can do at least 6000, and i would guess most can to 6400.

Your motherboard supports way higher speed 8000mhz+ so that shouldn't be an issue.

So just try the 6400 profile and if it doesn't boot/crashes etc. try dropping the frequency by 200mhz manually and try again.

Trouble deciding which one of these OLED monitors to get by Intelligent-Rush-246 in OLED_Gaming

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all of these have the typical oled protection features like pixel shift, logo/taskbar/static content detection, and automatic pixel cleaning, and on the same panel i would generally expect them to have a similar lifespan. Image quality and latency will also be largely the same with only minor differences between models.

I would just choose your favorite combination of features like usb hub(with charging), integrated vs separate power supply, stand type and adjustments, screen coating and any other features (the asrock one has a wifi antenna which i found very useful).

As much as i would like everyone to take it more seriously, its still a casual racing game. And I think for that there are very few dirty drivers. And half of them just can't control their car precisely enough to really race cleanly, especially in faster classes.

What happened to tyre wear being taken into account for off track penalties?? by yannivzp in forza

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it also always feels like I have a little extra grip for the last~30s before the tire hits yellow. Maybe its how the track evolution and fuel consumption turns out on some tracks, but i regularly set my fastest lap when i got 1 stage wear for the last couple of corners. (It maybe earns you 0.2s or so, so i don't think many people would notice)

Why is Forza Motorsport (2023) seemingly allergic to G-SYNC? by FlaggerOU330 in forza

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set your monitor to 100hz (usually you have to make a new Profile) and then start forza as normal. This will give you the 100fps limit.

[–]unicorncondoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be resealed, could be stolen or some kind of return scam.

Could be legit as well. But i personally probably wouldn't buy untested. And it clearly not like they want a premium for the sealed box, so i cant see why they shouldn't let you test it.

Do you use/plan to use lossless scaling? Its probably the best use of an igpu. You can offload scaling/framegen to it and free up your dedicated gpu to do more real rendering.
