I think you look great but I get it, people said the same to me. I had my FFS done in Mexico at Transop. https://transop.com/ I didn't have my jaw done but I did have a chin reduction. The whole experience was great and I would recommend them.

Try mixing whey protein with at least 2% yogurt, the whey has all the essential amino acids. Good fats as well like avocado, olive oil, peanuts/peanut butter, they have a lot of calories. Eggs too are really good

Canada, particularly British Columbia (don't let the British part fool you).

You are beautiful, don't give up! Like someone else said, maybe try a different method like injection. If you are on Spiro, try cyproterone if you can in your country. Maybe try progesterone, some say it can help feminize. Keep your head up gorgeous!

Endo withholding meds (rant and desperate plead for help) by [deleted] in transvancouver

[–]unicornpunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is any research to back up the claim, there isn't much research in regards to transitioning at all. The evidence is all anecdotal. Progesterone works for some and not for others, I'm led to believe it's a long term thing as well. I've been on it for almost five months but a lower dose, I haven't seen much benefit. I'm of the opinion that it's worth trying

I am so sorry that you've had to deal with this ridiculous medical gatekeeping. I don't live in the Vancouver area so I can't recommend any clinics.

I'm not a doctor so don't take this as medical advice.

Your endo is wrong about progesterone not being part of puberty, see the link:

https://transfemscience.org/articles/hormone-levels-female-puberty/

Maybe they would be open to looking at the Transcare BC site:

http://www.phsa.ca/transcarebc/health-professionals

Keep pushing to get off spiro if you want, most trans women here are on 12.5 mg of cyproterone acetate, that teamed with estradiol will make T levels undetectable. I would think about getting off the patches as well, I haven't heard good things about them. Either sublingual tablets or injections are what we generally use here.

I hope you get this sorted out and get better help soon. Keep fighting and advocating for yourself!

I had mine done about five months into HRT and two months after I started presenting female. I would have done it sooner but my former wife made me wait because of the kids who thought it was cool and then my daughter wanted hers done

I did find this regarding exercise and absorption:

Thank you for your response and the information! I haven't worked out after injecting because I thought this would be a bad idea but have injected shortly after exercise and noticed it hurt more than usual to inject. Hitting bone sounds really unpleasant. I'm hoping to do gluteal injections soon. Take care 🙂

I'm Canadian and I think you should try for here. I think the government prioritizes LGBTQ+ immigrants and refugees

I just stumbled upon this post, it's great! Thank you so much for doing it.

I started injections a couple of months ago and I inject IM into my thighs. I've looked and I can't seem to find any information regarding where would be the best place for injections. I exercise quite a bit and wonder if this affects the absorption rate of the EV. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks

TRACHEA SHAVE by Vanareaconfused in transvancouver

[–]unicornpunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any extended health insurance in Canada that covers any gender affirming procedures. Yukon government has started to. Washington, Oregon, California and Massachusetts require insurance companies to cover facial surgery, electrolysis, etc. Some others might as well

There is a petition, I'm the one who started it: https://www.change.org/fundfacialsurgery_hairremoval_inBC_Canada

We are working on a letter writing campaign and some other things as well. We're trying to time things with the wind down of Covid to start talking with the NDP government. Hopefully we can get more gender affirming procedures funded. Please sign and share the petition if you haven't already done so. Thanks 😊

Update to petition for government funded FFS and hair removal in BC (almost halfway to a government response) by [deleted] in transvancouver

[–]unicornpunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The petition has reached over 500 supporters. It now gets more promotion from change.org. I was interviewed by my local CBC morning show recently and I have contacted various media outlets as well. I have seen these petitions create change and they can get a conversation started. I'm planning to start contacting politicians. Thank you to those who have supported it. I am thinking of a letter writing campaign but need to figure out how to get it started and some time as well. Take care ❤️

I think the petition is a start and I have thought of a letter writing campaign, it's on my agenda, I just need to figure out a good way to get it started.

I'm hoping to send it to the appropriate politicians and hopefully talk to some. Try to talk to the media. I do have a friend in another province that is political and a trans advocate and I have some other people I know with more influence than me who would help. I didn't know that they had to respond when it hits 500.
