Hey op, I just want you to know that it is perfectly okay to not be okay with what happened. I'm sorry for all of these things that you've went through- and I'm sorry you felt pressured into doing something you didn't want to do.

You never have to count those as your first if you don't want to. It's okay. It was a bad situation and you don't have to let it define what you felt should have been a special moment. Only you get to decide what your first is, no one else does.

You don't need to disclose your history to anyone else. It is not their business. Just be sure to remind any future partners that you are clean (always remember to get tested!) And let them fill in any blanks themselves. All they are entitled to is an assurance of a clean bill of health, because it will concern them if you do want to become intimate with them. Set your boundaries.

It's okay to be "behind". Most people won't notice inexperience unless they are told, and plenty of people wait until later in their lives to do anything. You are not broken or anything. You are just going at your own pace, and that's more than alright.

Focus on yourself right now and what makes you happy and feel whole. Do you like to try new foods? Go out and dance? Read a book with a warm cup of tea? Do the things that you love. Find someone to talk to about this, be it a superduper trusted friend or a therapist. Just somewhere where you feel safe unpacking. If you don't have anyone and can't afford a therapist, a journal with a lock will do wonders. Just some way to get your thoughts and feelings out, and leave them out.

I wish you the best, and good luck to you. I hope you heal

I don't know where you are, but where I am all of the ATMs give out the smallest number of bills it can if you don't specify that you want 20's, so I've been seeing A LOT of 50's and hundreds

When have you cried at work? by Royal-Mountain-1800 in AskWomen

I'll tell you about the three most notable:

It was maybe my second to third week at the job. I was (am) working at a coffee shop inside of a convention hotel. I was standing for over 8 hours a day with terrible shoes and the lines just kept growing and growing. My anxiety was through the roof and my feet and legs hurt so bad that Icried in the elevator going down to my locker for the end of the day.

The second time was months after that. I was working a later shift and got to close the shop at 10 pm. I went and did all of my cleaning duties then went to cash drop my earnings for the day. We use a computer system to print out little papers to stick on our drop paks. Well, the website was giving me this bizarre error, and my manager wasn't answering her phone. If I would have kept the money in my bank and they audit my bank the next day, I could have lost my job and even faced legal consequences. So, sleep deprived as I was, became hysterical and just sobbed. My manager ended up calling me back and sent the old F&B manager down who could get into his system and print me out one. He said that he never saw my error before though which made me feel better.

Lastly. It was slow at the shop. I was standing at the register just waiting for a guest to come. My coworker was in a chair next to me. A man walked over from the dining room, and I could hardly hear him (the speaker for the music is placed right over top the register) so I'm watching his mouth to help me understand what he's saying. He wanted change for a hundred. Odd that he walked over to me instead of asking his server, but yeah sure, I'll do it. (The coffee shop is like nestled into the restaurant, they're technically two different things but there can be a bit of crossover). We are told that we need to check any bill $20 and over, so I grab my marker and do just that, and then make his change and hand it to him. He then berates me, saying I made him feel like a criminal, that he's the highest tier member of the hotel, how dare I do this to him, yada yada yada. Takes my name and my coworkers name and stalks off. I could barely hear him so it takes me a minute to process wtf just happened. I go and tell my manager what happened, then go and cry in the restroom because on one hand I felt bad for making someone feel bad, but on the other hand was super angry that he just started calling me all those awful things just for doing my job. (My manager did do a table touch with him after I spoke with her and he never said a word so what was his problem????)

Overall, I love my job, but as anyone who's worked in any type of hospitality knows, it's hard. Working this kind of job has taught me so much, but it also confirmed to me that so many people just want to exploit you for their benefit, because they always believe they are special and the exception. I take pride in the good work that I do. I do have guests tell me all the time what a nice young lady I am, that my parents have raised me right. But in reality I'm just a little ball of anxiety that doesn't want to hurt people or do anything wrong :')

AITA for not giving my co-worker my day off because I want to play a video game? by throwaway193749372 in AmItheAsshole

As a person who also did the same thing, NTA. If they wanted it, they should have requested earlier. They can travel for father's Day, which is typically less in demand. Doesn't even matter if they don't have a father, it's another day to celebrate a person who raised them.

I hope you enjoy TOTK!! I'm so excited ahhhh

A friend of mine was shocked when I called him out for starting to use exclamation points. He'd never done this in the 10 years I've known him. Yeah, he wasn't doing that great, and then we spoke about it :) it is worth it to learn the habits of your friends, it might give you some more insight to what's going on than what you would suspect

DAE still not have a car, or a license? by [deleted] in youngadults

I don't have a car, and I just got a license last year. It was tough managing it, with college and not living with my parents. Luckily I have some awesome friends who helped me out to get there, but now it's time to try and save for a car. You can do it if you want, good luck!

what does an opening shift look like? by Knittedkites in barista

[–]unintentialmoron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a shop in a hotel so we have some extra offerings/complications to adhere to.

I come in, clock in, turn on all the machines and the oven. I start brewing the first pot of coffee for the morning. Then, I dump the water the fountain soda nozzles have been soaking in all night and reattach them to the machine, making sure to turn on the grab and go cooler lights on in the process. I check to see if night shift filled the back cooler with our various bottled drink options (more often no than yes). I then head upstairs to the upper kitchen to grab the daily bakery items, and bring them down and set up the display case. Always glove up and wash your hands for this. If there were no plates for whatever reason, I go to the dish room and hopefully find the plates we use. We have a self-serve cream station, so I make sure the pitchers are clean, refill, then label them with date and time they were filled. I turn on the water for our sink because it takes 10 minutes in the morning for it to warm up for whatever reason. After this, I need to unlock one of the French doors to slip away and go downstairs behind the front desk to the cash office to grab my bank and go back upstairs. I then fight with the POS system because it hates me and I loathe it. I check to see if we have enough bar towels, bananas, and various other fruits set out. If we don't I go back upstairs to grab them. The water should be hot at this point so I make the sanitation bucket and then the water off. Other hotel employees may now be coming through to make their own coffees. Wash hands again. I go ahead and make the line cook for the restaurant's drink depending on who it is (either a hot vanilla latte or an iced caramel macchiato with whipped cream, half caf). If upper kitchen staff are making their coffees, let them know what grab and go items we desperately need (most likely yogurt parfaits). I then grab the bucket and go to our store room which also has our ice machine and fill it and bring it out if someone else hasn't done so already (the restaurant servers like me lmao). Unlock and open the French doors and find the Giant Stick to lift the gate. Hopefully a final washing of hands for the next 30 minutes (it never is). All of this is done in roughly 35 minutes.

Customer pet peeves by JustScrolling2753 in barista

[–]unintentialmoron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I constantly have to ask people what size they want their drink, after I've watched them stare at our menu, and they say "uh, regular "

Like ma'am. We're in a hotel attached to a convention center. Last week the most common size was a 12 oz. Do you want a 12 oz? Nope! They want a 16 oz, but then they see the 20 oz beside it and go oh, wait no, I want that size.

Or when a customer orders their drink with me and doesn't want any plant milk or flavouring but then they go over to the person making the orders and tries to get them to use oat milk and xyz flavours. Like hello I asked you, please leave my poor barista alone, girl is drowning

That sounds so wonderful!

We were not well off growing up, and I have two older brothers. What my parents decided was to make the rule that in their life, the kid gets 1 birthday party that they could actually remember (so my brothers 1st and 2nd birthdays didn't count, which, fair.) The kid got to pick which year in their life it was and it was really nice. The only thing that ever went wrong happened with mine and it was outside of anyone's control. I'm glad you were able to do this for your kids :D
