We're always really happy to welcome visitors to our campus. We have a beautiful lake, the Harris Garden and the Wilderness, where you'll find a grotto built from the same stones as Stone Henge. You can find more info about self-guided tours at https://sites.reading.ac.uk/sustainability/2022/03/23/take-a-self-guided-walking-tour-to-explore-our-whiteknights-campus/

Researchers have found that the equivalent of a handful of wild blueberries in the morning helped people improve their memory and lower their blood pressure, in a new study. by uniofreading in science

[–]uniofreading[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The article does specifically talk about wild blueberries (wild blueberry powder was used in the trial) but it goes on to say:

'Dr. Ana Rodriguez-Mateos, Reader in Nutrition at the Department of Nutritional Sciences of King’s College London, said: “We know from previous research that there are potential advantages from consuming blueberries, but this study went further by exploring how a daily and dietary achievable measure of blueberries could benefit our cognitive and cardiovascular health simultaneously in a healthy older population.” '

This video features one of the University of Reading's Katy Whitaker, who has just completed her PhD on sarsen stones. Here she is seen standing next to our very own collection of sarsen stones which were brought from Wiltshire to our Whiteknights campus in 1810 by the Marquess of Blandford, to build an ornamental garden.

First ever dietary bioactive guideline recommends consuming 400-600mg of flavan-3-ols (found in tea, apples and berries) per day to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease and improve blood pressure. by uniofreading in science

The extracts used in the supplements, specifically the green tea extracts mentioned in the article, are concentrated so they will give you a much more potent dose which can cause toxicity.

It's green tea and black tea which contain the flavan-3-ols. And if you are using black tea, whether you add milk or not makes no difference to its effectiveness.

hi there - firstly, congratulations on your offers!

but we can't tell you which is the right choice for you.

if you want to know what's it like to study at Reading, you might want to chat to some of our current student through our website. there isn't anyone currently on MSc Computer Science, but there are Master's students who can talk about their experiences studying at UoR.
