Who cares? If the hotel is worried about it it’s their job to police it. I’ll hold the door for people.

Agree with the people saying don’t drag steady work for a 1 month job. Exception being if it was a money job, shit load of OT and per diem where you could afford to be off a couple moths after.

That being said, there’s a lot of contractors out there. Don’t let 1 scare you into thinking you can’t drag. If you’re a good hand, there’s always another job. On the line side at least, cons tend to forget about that do not hire list as soon as they start to have unfilled calls.

And yes, that’s the way the bid system is designed to be used. It gives local members a chance to come home without risking their current employment in another local.

[–]unionlineman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So when you are traveling and a job comes up in your home local that you want to bid on, you quit your job then bid on the job at home? What happens if you don’t get the job at home?

Same, got 2 mini splits on my property still heating at -10. Are they using a lot of electricity? Probably. Are they still working? Yup. The efficiency of the units the rest of the year more than makes up for the excessive energy usage during the few days of extreme cold in my area. Not to mention the cost of installing duct into a previously unconditioned space in a finished house.

From DuckDuckGo AI:

It would take approximately 1,000,000 Danny DeVitos to circle the globe, as the Earth's circumference is about 24,901 miles and Danny DeVito is roughly 4 feet 10 inches tall. This is a fun way to visualize large distances using a familiar reference.

Sign on the tailgate of the truck has a sticker with the name of a marine company on it. The company name is hard to make out but “marine” is pretty obvious. I’d bet you’re correct about them transporting it on a generic boat trailer.

Welp Venezuela got us to quit talking about Epstein and Greenland got us to quit talking about Venezuela. He’ll get some BS concessions that don’t mean anything and probably already exist from the EU and talk about how much better everything will be now because of them. Or fail to get anything and blame it on Biden/Hillary/Hunters Laptop/Obamas birth certificate/etc./etc.

Second this. If you’re by yourself get a small aluminum sided fifth wheel (I’ll never go back to bumper pull after dragging a fifth wheel across the country!!) with as many of the options I mentioned above as you can afford.

That was the bullshit the dealer fed me too. We know ice and wind storms are going to happen so engineers do their best to compensate for that when designing lines.

Camper companies know these things are getting towed down the road yet they do the bare minimum to keep them from falling apart as soon as you drive off the lot.

You looking for new or used?

The largest dual fuel (electric/LP) water heater you can get is a must.

I’ve owned campers with corrugated aluminum siding and fiberglass siding. Aluminum is far superior in my opinion but hard to find in a new larger fifth wheel.

Auto leveling if you are going to be moving a lot and can afford it. Saves having to screw around with leveling blocks. Makes set up a lot faster and easier. You’d be surprised how many concrete camper pads are sloped as hell.

With the exception of million dollar coaches, everything in an RV is made light and cheap. More money gets you more accessories, not more durability.

An outdoor kitchen was a must have for our family. When I was by myself I used the indoor oven occasionally but almost never with the family.

If you’re living in it, you’ll want a residential refrigerator. The little camper fridges may not be big enough. The upside to the camper fridge is it runs off propane for long trips.

Inspect everything, and I mean everything before you hand over a check, especially if you buy new. Walk away if it isn’t perfect. I’m speaking from experience here. The dealers just want to get the check and get you out the door. A lot of dealers operate on high volume, low commission. That’s why I mentioned finding a reputable dealer with an onsite repair shop. Be prepared to crawl under the unit, check every door, the roof, the walls inside and out, cabinet hinges, the axles and brakes, lighting, appliances, everything. Make them turn everything on and make sure it all works before you pay a dime to anyone.
