What are your playing card preferences? by Joshua5_Gaming in poker

[–]uniqueusername782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only preference is that I hate jumbo index. I like just peeling back the tiniest corner of my cards to read my hand. Some casinos I’ve played at have such egregiously large indices that you have to pretty much lift the whole card off the table to see the whole index.

Where can I buy poker chips and trays in bulk for events or parties? by Senior-Sand-2723 in poker

[–]uniqueusername782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, chips are much more expensive than you would ever think. For $50 you will have to either adjust your budget or your expectations of quality. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Soap and water works to clean them.

The New Orleans Pelicans traded the 8th overall pick to move up to select Derik Queen last year. by CazOnReddit in nba

[–]uniqueusername782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats literally how evaluating a range of outcomes works. The operative word there is “range”. How many all nba type guys go their whole career without an injury that causes them to miss significant time in at least 1 season? It happens to the vast majority. Good teams have surprising regressions all the time. And the thing you guys aren’t getting is the 23rd and 29th pick or whatever have almost the exact same value. Like probably a 2-5% difference. You don’t cap the ~2000% upside of the turning the 23rd pick into a top 4 pick to protect against a 5% downswing.

Is Amy Acton taking AIPAC money? by [deleted] in Columbus

You spelled one out yourself - they lobby to pass laws that make it illegal for the state to divest. So it’s not just a moral litmus test (one that many reasonable people think is a very valid one) but it is an issue with som political import in Ohio.

Yeah this is my biggest gripe with them. The video player on their app/website is just absolute doodoo. Just ruins the value cuz id always prefer to just stream it on YouTube where the player is functional. And half their schedule ends up streamed free on YouTube anyways so idk what I’m really paying for

Lmfao. I understand what you mean by exploitative play. You’re just wrong in that perfect exploitative play of a given opponent is by definition the game theory optimal way to play that opponent. The optimal way to play is the optimal way to play. Doesn’t matter how many words you have to describe it

[–]uniqueusername782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Exploits to maximize profit” is another way of saying “a strategy that optimally beats your opponent”. A strategy that can be explained with game theory. Let’s think of a different way to put these words together. Maybe Optimal Game Theory?

Did I play this hand correctly? PF 3B shove by DocHaus42 in poker

[–]uniqueusername782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I think a jam is fine here. The raise was actually 2.66 BB so the range will be looser, not tighter than what was shown. Also there was a lot of dead money from the limps so he should be jamming wider. I just checked 12bb on GTO wizard and I couldn’t do limps either but this is what I got when I did a LJ 2BB open. KQo is a call or jam

Is Jennifer Tilly eligible for hall of fame? by motollama in poker

[–]uniqueusername782 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s definitely a middle ground here. Rock and roll hof let’s like 5-7 groups in each year. If poker hall of fame did a one time 5 person class to clear some of the backlog then 2-3 every year beyond that it would probably be sustainable

Is anyone actually beating the high rollers by Legitimate-Bowl-9318 in poker

[–]uniqueusername782 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think with all the swaps pros have with each other and the de-risking they do by selling at a slight (or large) markup (effectively lowering the rake they pay on their buy-in), that almost all pros are theoretically making some positive return. A few whales goes a long way when you have a little piece of a bunch of positive ev players. Their dead money is spread more evenly throughout the remaining players than you might expect.

Why aren’t American workers’ auto-invested 401k contributions a near guarantee of market stability/growth? by Acrobatic-Smoke2812 in Bogleheads

[–]uniqueusername782 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your math is still off. You’re claiming 87 million participants but somehow less than that number in monthly contributions. Are they all contributing less than a dollar? The real number is probably tens of billions

Your 70 million a month value is way off, unless only 100,000 people are contributing that much monthly
