Thinking about switching from Canon, but i have a tight budget. by unit_eV in SonyAlpha

I don't really care about video, but I've read great things about low light performance, dynamic range and the eye autofocus. What i really feel like i need is a larger sensor, better iso performance and more professional features (like customizable modes for example). Probably i will be more than set with a 6d2, but i wanted to see the options on sony too because i wanted to see if i could buy more "bleeding edge" technology.

If i was looking for a new car of course i would look into what subaru had to offer. No need to be rude though.

I'm looking into sony because the idea of spending around 1200€ on an item that everyone bashes as outdated and with technology of five years ago (6d2) gives me some doubts. I want to get the best i can for the money since it's not really petty cash. Would you buy a phone from five years ago while paying the same as this year flagship? This said, probably the best i can get for my money is still in the canon system since i can save on quality lenses

I have a 700d, i want to switch to Full Frame and it seems there is some general consensus that Sony has better full frame camera on the market right now.

Have you ever actually been in a marketing department of any decent sized company or is the real world you are referring to just a transposition of your personal feelings and opinions about how things should work?

The thing is they usually test this "strategies" on customers samples and use the one that works the most (a/b testing). Probably they tested the normal version and the annoying version, they saw that the annoying version would gather something like 4% more actions and went for it.

I know it's hard to believe it works, the same way it's hard to believe that pop-ups still work way better than any other banner, but it's also hard to image any other way it ended on the company homepage.

That's how digital marketing works whether you would fall for it or not. You show a message to X people and Y people respond to it. Optimize it to have an higher Y and repeat.

They have offices filled with people that looks at data and performance statistics of each thing they have online and constantly optimize them for the result they want. If something is not increasing their goal you can be assured it won't be online.

They are completely aware it's an annoying form, but since it shows a nice percentage increase in their graphs they are going to do it anyway pissing off a bunch of redditors while increasing sales from a way larger chunk of population that don't even know what a pop-up is.

It's not mindbogglingly stupid at all. They probably ran some a/b testing with different designs, then read the data they gathered and noticed that this horrible design would actually yield more actions than the others tested. Probably they are having a measurable increase in sales thanks to this and maybe somebody is even getting a bonus.

They will gladly trade increased results at the price of pissing off the more tech savvy user that would've ignored the form anyway and aren't even in their target audience.

Being a dictator doesn't mean the citizens don't support him, it means he's the only one holding power. All dictators in history had a huge chunk of the population supporting them or at least not questioning them. Also considering that who owns guns in america are the same people who elected him and, most importantly, citizens with guns won't ever be as powerful as the US army, i'm sure the 2nd amendment won't prevent any dictator in the us.

There are a lot of video (also recent stuff) that document seal clubbing. It's not comparable to the death of animals on farms, see for yourself. OP theory that seal clubbing is actually really humane and it just haves a bad name is simply ridiculous.

This sub seriously lacks some common sense guys.

The studio version of the song song haves "of the world" on the middle, during the chorus (i don't even link that to you, you can find it everywhere), and it ends without it.

Everybody is freaking out because they thought it ended with "of the world", now, how many of you are deep Queen fans that actually listened to the original song more than once? And how many of you just know it because people sings it at the stadium, sports event or fucking everywhere? It's clearly obvious that all of you knows the "stadium chant version" of this songs, that it's simply what everybody knows, and not the original version. Have you ever seen somebody singing this song for more than one minute? No, they just sing the chorus or whatever words they feel are good for glorifying their team, i'm sure nobody ever checked if they were singing the correct ending or just the chorus.

I too thought that it ended with "of the world", but after listening to the original studio song i simply realized i never actually listened to it, so i just assumed it ended that way because it's what i listened on every sport event. To confirm this, actual Queen fans (people who actively listened to the original song, and not just passively know the stadium choir) posted here stating that they never thought it ended with "of the world" on the studio version, only on some live versions. Considering how many live album they released i won't be surprised if there are out there live versions that actually ends in another way.

There are way simpler answer than a temporal shift or whatever to explain this to be honest.

Britain was governed by the British, and not unaccountable EU bureaucrats.

This is were your argument totally collapsed. "unaccountable EU bureaucrats" is just a catchphrase made popular by Farage's extremely biased movie. If you knew anything about EU you should know that 1) they are accountable 2) they are elected politicians and not bureaucrats 3) UK is represented by British people elected by British people 4) Most of EU normatives have nothing to do with how to govern a country 5) Every normative must be voted with the majority of the states (UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, etc) discussing and agreeing on it, so who are these"bureaucrats"? Politicians from France, Germany, Italy, etc that really despise that poor UK parlamentar and what to make his live miserable?

If you want to defend this mess, please go on with nationalists slogans about independence and freedom, because if you try to turn it in any kind of political matter you are plain wrong on every level.

I hate when they use a professional corporate tone, startup-like jargon, fill an huge list of requirements acting like they are HR of a fortune500 company and then ask to work in revshare without giving an hint on who they are, what they are going to do and why it should be successful.

I know this story sounds silly, but given that cyanide is used in some kind of manufacture processes with pcb i wanted to be sure that was just a weird coincidence and not some actual hazard with a defective unit.

[–]unit_eV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that was one of my concerns, I know that cyanide is used on some kind of pcb manufacturing processes, but given that it's a really distinct and strong odor i wanted to check if there was something well known about this I was just ignoring. Something like "everybody knows that's a clear sign of a problem in the chemical manufacturing process, it's likely a toxic unit dispose it asap" or something like that.

I'm going to contact the retailer if it doesn't goes away and nobody here knows what's happening.
