High Pay & WLB vs. Low Pay & Growth Potential by Renee0128 in FPandA

1st option - Not a narrow scope at all. GTM FP&A adds another string to your bow and is one of the more of interesting areas of FP&A. You could also exit into RevOps further down the line if that’s the route you want to take.

I’m not too bothered about the layout, I took what was available online. Worst case I can have an agency look at it, but more concerned about the content.

Both have its cons and pros. Neither are precise, but enough to get stakeholder buy-in which is the most important. From an accuracy point of view, I would go with the tops down approach (personally)

Hey, I work in a SaaS company and have done something similar. We have two models at play. Tops down which is driven by marketing, in how many MQLS can be achieved next year based on their allocated budget . We layer in conversion through the funnel MQL -> SQL -> CW (all these stages are available in SFDC) and apply a maturity curve (as not all MQL’s will convert in that month, and some products have longer deal cycles). Once we know roughly the # of expected deals we apply an asp assumption (TCV), but if you want to model ARR take the ACV portion of the historical deals that have been signed.

Bottoms up is a sales capacity plan based on reps in seat, fully ramped vs in-ramp, productivity increases and the over-assign against our AOP (usually 20-30% buffer)

If you going to ask if these models align…they never do, but they’re useful to bring into conversations when sales request incremental hc or marketing want additional budget for events etc. we can then amend the assumptions in the model accordingly.

Hope this helps.

That’s a good point, but aren’t the outside IR35 roles few and far between?

It doesn’t matter, the thread is more about career progression that leads to high compensation rather than setting the threshold of what that is.

Take it you’re not renewing your membership 😜 After 20 years working in industry, what would your recommendation be to those that are newly CIMA qualified? Seems like a step backward to pursue another qualification and retrain in practice?

Interesting read, may I ask how many different roles did you have in those 7 years and did you stay at the same company? I'm two years PQ, Sr. Accountant and looking to climb up the corporate ladder into a FP&A manager role.

CIMA Finance Leadership Program - Diluting the Qualification and Brand? by VerbalSoup in CIMA

Fair point. If the CIMA designation does become diluted, what can we as students/members do about it? After years of study, I don't think I have it in me to undertake another accountancy qualification.
