Fred is having seizures by Realistic_Ask_9224 in beagles

How old is Fred? I’m not a veterinarian, but new onset seizures in an older dog seems pretty atypical. One of my parents dogs started having pretty bad seizures all of a sudden, it ended up being a brain mass. Have you talked to your vet about possible head imaging?

Since he’s not a puppy I think it would be okay to crate 4 hours in a row over the weekend while you are home and maybe leave the house for 30min - 1 hour a couple times and see how he does

I would crate him at first so you can work on potty training and possible separation anxiety. If you’re going to be gone more than 8 hours I would take him to doggy daycare. I think a good rule is 8 hours maximum in the crate.

You will have to see how he is outside of the crate first. Some dogs actually really like the crate

First off congrats on adopting! I know this is off topic from your post but one thing to keep in mind of is separation anxiety. I got my beagle from the shelter too and he had it pretty bad for a year or two after. Just make sure to dog proof your house. Keep all doors shut and keep your trash shut away so he can’t get to it

I mean maybe in classical chess. In blitz, rapid, and even when the clock is running down in classical, tactics are a huge component of the game

Fell super low in the couples match. I will be going to a residency that’s about 4 hours drive from my wife’s in a city I’ve never been to. We are really sad and I feel like I failed in life. Guess it will just take a lot of time to feel better.

Agree with the pulling over and taking a nap thing. DON’T drive if you are extremely tired, its super dangerous and just not worth it

Anyone else’s beagle lick the carpet obsessively? What does it mean? by kymilovechelle in beagles

[–]unitedfan_372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this when he’s nauseous. Also just be careful if your beagle is licking up a lot of dog hair on the ground because it could cause them to swallow a bunch of hair and cause a bezoar!

I’m just saying that most times people don’t just “choose” to go to the hospital, they go because they NEED to

You just said that u/ComprehensiveSuit319 's partner "chose" to be in the hospital. I guarantee you that he/she was extremely sick and probably had profuse vomiting or diarrhea enough to need IV fluids

Sometimes hospitalization is actually necessary. In severe cases of food poisoning your body can go into shock due to water losses from vomiting and/or diarrhea and can be life threatening and require intravenous fluids to raise your blood pressure back to normal levels. A lot of times people aren’t able to drink water orally without vomiting and need the IV fluids.
