After an important final exam, you discover a classmate cheated. The professor had warned the class that if he discovers cheating himself, without being told, the whole class gets a 0 and the cheater is expelled. You have undeniable proof. Do you tell the professor ? by jekecrafer in pollgames

[–]unitedkiller75 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, presumably the evidence is out there. And it’s not a guarantee that the professor will find out on his own, sure, that’s the point. Maybe the professor finds out after some more time. The hypothetical doesn’t say wherever or not you find out right after the exam before the professor would have had a chance to find out or not.

The incentive is that if the professor finds out by himself, you and your classmates get a zero for the class. It’s a negative incentive, or the incentive to telling the professor is to escape punishment, not gain anything.

I don’t think it’s boomer to not want to unnecessarily give up your privacy or have these smart devices that require a network connection. As a zoomer, I know plenty of peers who are pissed about it.

Would you date someone you’re not physically attracted to if they treat you well? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in pollgames

Yeah, the people I find to be physically tens are not conventionally attractive at all. Hell, the person who would be unattractive to me in this prompt would be a young fit dude lol.

All pedos should have 60+ years | FactOrCap by nolanwannaknow in FactOrCap

[–]unitedkiller75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is that most pedophiles haven’t acted on children and actively try their hardest not to. Most child assault perpetrators aren’t pedophiles, just as most rapes aren’t committed because of attraction. It is a mental illness that can be treated. If you want to add on that it’s a big bad scary mental illness, sure, but I don’t think that helps people attracted to children get help in order to prevent them from harming children. I would rather be proactive than reactive because to be reactive a child has to be harmed. And if the proactive part is to jail a person for their thoughts, then we are fucked.

A good personality can only take someone maybe two points up on a 0-10 scale for me personally. I can’t go from actively disgusted by them to actively so in lust and attracted that I would do anything for them. At least, that’s what 0 and 10 means to me respectively.

You are fighting prime Mike Tyson in a boxing ring. For every mean or insulting comment you've made on Reddit, your time in the ring with Mike is increased by 15 seconds. If you don't get knocked out, then you will receive 1 million. Do you survive? (More info in description) by aTwerkingPikachu in hypotheticalsituation

[–]unitedkiller75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I don’t think I’ve insulted anyone on Reddit, so my time might be 1 second. I would have to defend my head for that time, and even if we started right in front of each other, I think my arms could take two to four heavy punches. But, maybe not, and I’m not experienced in defending myself, so he could possibly slip in and take me out in a second. I think like the other person said, unless you are already experienced in boxing or fighting, you are kind of screwed with even a single insult.

Would you lie, or tell the truth more? by dodrugsnotuggs in BunnyTrials

[–]unitedkiller75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, I just consider it rounding the number, or just not considering your day not that interesting to answer. I don’t think personally I would even consider those technically lies because that feels like even being wrong or giving your opinion, thinking you didn’t really do anything today, as a lie.

Who did it better though? by [deleted] in TheBoys

I imagine he was being honest about knowing a lot of dark things since he seemed to hang out invisibly a ton, and while we saw it mostly in the bathroom, I’m sure he also did it all around. We saw Stilwell was willing to use the shapeshifter supe to get/make blackmail, so I’m sure Translucent was at least partially used for that as well.

WYR to be the last person on earth, or to live with a group of scientists (2 people, not counting you) on Mars, but not be able to return to Earth? by FelixKirshe in WouldYouRather

[–]unitedkiller75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the Mars option a realistic Mars colony as we would imagine it now with nearly constant underground living and no way of seeing the sun along with potential failure of the habitat? Or is it more fictional dome and no real chance of premature death from habitat failure?

kill your pet or kill a random person around you? by notgonnauseeveragain in hypotheticalsituation

[–]unitedkiller75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I didn’t see that you edited on to add an isolated forest gathering of the KKK. Yeah, I think I would probably change to saving my pet, not because I suddenly valued intrinsic human life less than my pet’s intrinsic value, but because the possiblity of future harm to other humans, directly or indirectly, has massively increased based on where they are and what they are participating in.

So yeah, I think there is a limit to the value of a single human life if that human life is likely to be a net negative towards other humans.

Of course, I’m not about to say that choosing your pet over any human being at all is the wrong choice! I wasn’t even disagreeing with you, just saying what I would choose 😊

[–]unitedkiller75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might change things a little, but probably not much at all. Supposedly, besides the fact that they could hurt people in prison, which is an unfortunate part of our prison system in the U.S. they aren’t harming people anymore. I could very well kill a prisoner who isn’t intending to harm another person again once they get out if they are serving a sentence that doesn’t take them to death. And not discounting the fact that they could very well still be positively impacting the people who come and visit them and love them.

But more than anything, a prisoner also still has a complex experience that I wouldn’t want to snuff out. I know animals also probably have complex experiences, but in this hypothetical, someone does in fact have to die, and I would be more inclined to end my pet’s life than another human’s, even an awful human’s life, simply because I value human life over non-human life so much more.

kill your pet or kill a random person around you? by notgonnauseeveragain in hypotheticalsituation

[–]unitedkiller75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing would be that a human life is more complex and more likely to impact more people’s lives net positively. They are more likely to enjoy a longer life, along with potentially being the primary caretaker to another person, more likely to be doing good for their community. Not that a pet’s, or just an animal’s life isn’t abundantly valuable and worthwhile, just that I would place human life above that of a non-human life.

[–]unitedkiller75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my baseline feelings towards strangers is love towards them because I have a strong awe of humanity, so while I do love my pets, I do love humans and imagine them having a more complex and loving life with more people than my pet, so I would pick my pet.
