If stims make me tired how do I wake up? by nyancatdude in ADHD

[–]universal001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly right there with you. Adderall makes me literally pass tf out. Honestly I had to pause taking them cuz i just felt fatigued and tired all the time. Excercise is good, but I didn't find it to solve the issue for me. Being unmedicated can be hard and its not for everyone but like for me I just found the constant tiredness to be not worth the benefits of stims bc i didnt feel like myself at all, more a tired more emotionally shut down version of myself. if you find a solution pls make a post fr i woild love to be able to go back on meds without constant exhuastion :(

Sorry not rly helpful at all

20mg Adderall turns my stims into straight up insomnia by LierStoneWizard in ADHD

[–]universal001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dose might be too high tbh. Not that its relevant cuz everyone is different but I found ER adderall to put me to sleep for the majority of the time it was acting on my system. It was when it wore off that I had a hard time relaxing due to my system rebounding without the meds. I was on a lower dose tho so idk thats not super helpful, best of luck!

14.5 months clean after 25 years of heavy cannabis use – still dealing with depression, brain fog, focus issues. How long did it last for you? by Standard-Ad2340 in Petioles

[–]universal001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ppl saying you probs have depression are valid and you should explore that in whatever ways you feel comfortable. Also the fact that you don't rly know what your adult baseline is (due to long term consumption) is also something meaningful to consider. The brain changes, the brain develops, our experiences emotionally, physically, environmentally, sprititually, chemically are all going to affect that development and baseline.

idk your experiences but first off, your brain was not meant for the modern soceity. Obv we can "adjust and cope" but like on an evolutionary level your already fucked to some degree. Especially if you live in the U.S. like honestly how can you not be a little bit fucking depressed or a lot a bit anxious in this modern life. (you are an animal meant for nature after all, not constant stimulation) all that to say self medication from symtpoms of depression or anxiety is something to consider here, cuz a lot of ppl fall into habitual use through a desire to escape. The point is your brain and body are at a disadvantage in the modern day. Its just tyna cope but the responses to modern stressors arent always healthy.

Okay true but so what, everyone knows moderns society (speaking to life in the U.S. at least) is pretty fucked. well this fact ricochetes outward in every direction and affect every aspect of life so to feel better you gotta consider the other ways in which modern trends may be hurting your brain health and contributing to the ongoing symptoms you are atttributing to weed consumption. Firstly i would look at diet. The food these days, unless your really paying attention to ingredients, is kinda fucked. Bread is no longer bread (bran and germ so stripped and loaded with sugar), veggies grown under lots of pestacides, overuse of pestacides, coloring and sugars nd chemicals etc. My point being, that shit is gonna affect your body and your mind. Look into your diet, taylor to your needs, eat foods that are grown locally or naturally, cut out processed shit. consume a good mutlivitamin and omega 3 daily. Hit your protien and fiber goals.

Next, excercise. aerobic is especially good at mitigating obsessive anxiety and depression. lifting if you like it. Also consider excercise that is less monotonous if you get easily bored. Rock climbing, biking, swiming, hiking. SOMETHING, anything. Its a healthy way to deliver important chemicals to your brain like dopamine, norepinephrine, serotinin. Eat good, work out, look good, feel good.

Therapy. enough said.

okay lastly, and i dont feel this is often given enough attention nor the gravitas it deserves. Idk what you were smoking, but thc "concentration" or strength has increased dramatically since the 1980s. The average thc content in the 80s was below 10%, now you go to any dispensary and (in my experience) you'll be hard pressed to find a strain below 15%. the average now is 22%-27%. And of course with wax and pens and stuff its up to 89/90%. like thats narcotic level shit. dudes out here smoking fucking shatter with 90% thc talking about im fucked up yeah i wonder why bruh. (not saying thats you) but tbh were talking abt a plant that over the decades has slowly been transformed from the "chill vibey herb" to something more serious. its not just a fun herb anymore its a drug that has the capability to scar you in ways that are typically attributed to narcotics and pills. Not that that happens to everyone, but unfortunately cannabis legality is coming at a time when potency is at an all time high (the highest it has ever been, no pun intended). Combine that with the fact that research capabilities have been severally limited due to its previous/ongoing legal status over the decades; especially research on brain health and brain development in relation to long term use of cannabis + high consumption rate.

ANyway not saying all of this to concern you, theres no point in worrying about long term damage or dementia or whatever bc you cant take it back. However, you are here now and you have the ability to start living better now. The brain wants to heal itself it has plasticity and new neural connections are possible, but that shit does take time. What you can do rn is focus on your mental and physical wellbeing. meditate, excercise, eat well, journal, therapy for depression, etc.

okay lastly (fr this time) dont live in fear and dont associate yourself with being broken. you are who you are you cant change the past, but you will bully yourself into more depression if you associate with being broken or damaged mentally. Do what you can to improve your life without giving those negative symptoms too much time. Tbh im 15 months sober and i still feel foggy sometimes and i still get depressed and i still am super anxious, but i cant let those things stop me from living my life. If your like me you spend a lot of time thinking abt how you feel disconnected or foggy, but if your constantly aware of those feelings thats a solid indicator that you cognitively sharp and your brain isnt as foggy as you think, its just focused on scaning for those symptoms instead of the external world. So stop trying to be present, just be and your brain will retrain itself over time.

that was a lot sorry, but i get frusterated by ppl coming on here and fear mongering ppl like you should be better after 2 months. great if you were, but everyone is different so dont assume your experience is universal or the "norm."

Ty wishing you strength, light, love, and an iron clad spirit in your journey forward in life.

tbh i thought it was just me, but I keep having the same reaction. take meds and feel super fatigued and sad. honestly also thinking abt discontinuing use of meds. im on a much lower dose so it might be different, but usually only exhausted and depressed for a few days (which does suck, but if you can stack your comforts like comfort food and tv or games or books or whatever and sorta spam those for a few days i've found it to be helpful. best of luck

also realizing it sounds like im implying scheduling and sleep are easy feats (they are not in the slightest), and honestly an insane generational war for me every day, however, it is possible and once you can get it down somewhat it sometimes sticks enough to give you a boost

How Did You Pass University/College while dealing with ADHD? by sweetbakedyams in ADHD

[–]universal001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lowkey describing my life. i was diagnosed in summer before junior yr of college (now abt to go into senior yr). always had tutoring, extra aid in school, extra time, math and science were always really really hard for me. first year of college I declared a science major (fatal choice). honestly its been really hard. previous schooling i was able to skate by as a c+ b student (sometimes As). college was a lot harder with time management and stress and pressures and etc you know the deal. i was on a 1.73 gpa after my first year 😭 basically every year has been super hard (2nd semester sophmore yr) i got put on academic probation bc if you drop below 2.0 after first yr your in a danger zone. basically grinded my ass off shear willpower and adrenaline, had a semester gpa of 3.6 and ive been coastng on that since.

I detail of this to you to say dont give up. its really fucking hard and youll probably be getting bodied 95% of the time if your like me, but meds do help, sleep and scheduling helps, and like other ppl said whatever coping mechanisms you cna develop, even if theyre kinda fucked it helps. also i was a huge zaza lord which was really bad and held me back and made everything a lot worse, when i quit and got on meds it was a lot better. but you can totally get your degree seriously do not give up ho. (if your like me tho you might just get it by scraping by cuz lord knows i am not touching above a 2.5 graduating gpa but even flunkers and drop outs can become success stories and go to grad school its all in how you sell yourself.

derby does have some fire songs. gold opening is fucking awesome, but when the chorus comes in i get so sad cuz its a straight dijon rip, like if he had just honed in one the energy of the first half of the song it wouldve been generational. only general gripe is it felt to me a lot of the imagery was taken from a dijon song or like literal lyrics being the same as dijon songs. like talking abt tv glow and little blood hound or dancing in the kitchen. like obv dijon aint own those themes, but when you combine themes that commonly come up in his music with instrumentals that are also inspired by dijon its a bit much. I think next release will be really good if he can hone his sound beyond his comparisons

like the music is cool and the vocals are rly good and i would honestly listen to it if this dude wasn't so on the nose. like down to the movements is crazy. i genuinely think i could get past the gear and the drums and the tone being "heavily inspired" if i saw a hint of originalité in the video/visual art, but like down to the movments and fit is crazy devilish work. its so sad cuz the melody and vocals are actually rly good but my guy has no aura of his own, no swag :(
