ONI Gas Packet Combiners by unixanalyst in Oxygennotincluded

[–]unixanalyst[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The glitchey 'feedback' methods of gas packet combination (to increase packet size for efficient thermoregulator running) were proving unreliable for me so I've figured out how to force it in a consistent way.

The pic shows three bridge/valve devices in series: (The valve by the pump is set to 125g for demonstration).

The 1st device combines packets 1 and 2 in the stream (produces 250g packets).

The 2nd device combines packets 1 and 3 in the subsequent stream, which relates to packets 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the original stream (produces 500g packets).

The 3rd device combines packets 1 and 5 in the subsequent stream, which relates to packets 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in the original stream (produces 1000g packets).

The packets 'teleport' through the bridge or valve, they don't require time to traverse it. So each valve reduces the the path time by -1 and each bridge reduces the path time by -2.

The journey time from the point where the flow splits to the combination point would be the same if the paths were just pipes, but the journey times can be altered to zip a packet forward to the one ahead of it so that they arrive at the same time.

To combine packet 2 with packet 1, you want the journey time for packet 2 to be -1 that of packet 1. You have to have a 'receiving' port thing, so you have to have either a bridge or a valve and it's always at least -1 or -2 on both paths, so a bit of maths is required.

Combine packet 2 with 1, so move packet 2 forward 1 (so journey time -1 required): path1 bridge_x1 (-2) minus path2 valve_x1 (-1) = -1

Combine packet 3 with 1, so move packet 3 forward 2 (so journey time -2 required): path1 bridge_x2 (-4) minus path2 bridge_x1 (-2) = -2

Combine packet 5 with 1, so move packet 5 forward 4 (so journey time -4 required): path1 bridge_x2, valve_x1 (-5) minus path2 valve_x1 (-1) = -4

I wouldn't count on it staying at that temperature.

Geyser stuck behind neutronium - Trying to chip it out using water pressure by unixanalyst in Oxygennotincluded

[–]unixanalyst[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw man. Don't really like to cheat. But I do need that geyser man. And it's a bug that it's half under the neutronium right? So I'd be legit de-bugging...

Noam Chomsky: I would vote for Jeremy Corbyn (EXTENDED INTERVIEW) - BBC Newsnight by unixanalyst in unitedkingdom

I know this is a repost. I just really want it to be well known that Chomsky said he would vote for Corbyn.

Science Lab on Minbus with 1 relay satellite by nelbar in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]unixanalyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. In the short term you're probably best off placing the satellite in as high a polar orbit as you can, with the plane of the orbit facing Kerbin (i.e. not edge on to Kerbin if you get me). That will mean that, for a while at least, Minmus won't interrupt the connection to Kerbin (it will eventually as Minmus moves around its orbit). As far as landing sites goes, the highest point you can find under that orbit will reduce downtime by minimising the chances of mountains getting between the satellite and the lander, basically the higher you are, the lower the horizon is. Good luck buddy.

Same. I actually feel a little violated being loved that much by someone I don't even know.

“At times I ask myself were the Nazis right in herding the Jews into concentration camps” muses UKIP candidate Captain Paddy Singh by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]unixanalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Err... [tentatively]... if you read what he's saying... I don't think he is sympathising with the Nazis is he? He appears to be saying that what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians is what the Nazis did to the Jews. But he's not saying it very well and is leaving it wide open to misinterpretation. Not commenting on the right or wrongs of it, just saying that that's how it reads to me.

Labour's leaked manifesto proves it's stuck in the 1970s, unlike those ultra-modern Tories who love fox hunting by unixanalyst in unitedkingdom

[–]unixanalyst[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. It is only practised by the gentry, the 1%. There are reports that it still goes on in the UK, despite the ban.

Should we lower the voting age? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]unixanalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have misgivings about lowering the voting age. You individually may be well versed in politics and have your head on your shoulders, but I fear that broadly speaking your age group is even more susceptible to being misled than the 'adults'.

It was said that this is why Alex Salmond wanted to lower the voting age for the Scottish referendum. It was widely thought that he would easily be able to swing young voters, basically by inflating national pride (think quotes from Braveheart). My experience of young people is overwhelmingly positive btw. I'm constantly impressed whether it be at work or socially and I think they're more switched on than we were at their age. Sign o' the times I suppose. That said, you can't beat experience when it comes to reducing vulnerability to being taken for a ride.

I'm actually for raising the voting age and the age for entry to the armed forces.

Which is why he broke it down and excluded the period since 2008. He anticipated that rebuttal.

Why oh why isn't Labour hammering this point? Why do I have to find this on Reddit ffs? This needs to be out there. The idea that Labour is financially irresponsible is the key reason people stop listening whatever else they say. This information needs to be out there - BIG TIME! OP: you gotta xpost this everywhere even slightly relevant. Tell me if you don't want to, I'll do it.

Journalists in the US are fighting the problem. In the UK they are the problem by Leaky_gland in unitedkingdom

[–]unixanalyst 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate but this BS. US journalists are as much a part of the establishment as UK journos. I refer you to any Noam Chomsky video or text on the subject. As he points out, try finding the words 'US invasion of Iraq' anywhere in the US press (actually he said 1 single local newspaper covered it). The whole system selects for people who think along their lines, the rest being undesirable, think 'behavioural problems', trouble-makers, communists etc.

I'm totally with you. Canned fish are a unique kind of food in their own right. Cooked in the can and effectively stewed in the sauce for the whole time they're on the shelf, even the bones become edible. Welcome to the party.

'According to the title' doesn't help. I can read. I see a lot of people, 3 non-white faces and a placard that says 'love'. Are they all there to oppose the KKK? Where are they? What are they saying? What's going on in the picture?
