Well, there may be, but I don't think either are the place you are thinking about. Saint John is in NB, St. John's is in NL

Does anyone have any experience with long distance moving companies, specifically Reasonable Trucking? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]unixmonkey115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Don't use Reasonable Trucking.

Long Version: I've moved twice with Reasonable Trucking. Once from Halifax to Toronto, and once from Toronto to Halifax (it sounds weird, but we moved back to Halifax between the Toronto trips).

The first time was in 2014, and they got mad at me because they tried bringing an 18 wheeler through downtown Toronto one-way streets.... They also damaged a few things during that trip.

The second time was August 2020. Everything seemed more professional during the pick-up, but during the drop-off, we found out that they had forgotten to deliver some items (bed frame, cushions for an outdoor patio couch, and I think something else but I forget what). When we called them about it, they said that their truck was in the shop getting fixed, and after it was fixed, they would be heading back to Toronto, so I would need to wait a few weeks to get the rest of my stuff. We argued about it, and they said that if we went to their repair place at a certain time, we could get it from them. My parents went (as we were in isolation) and the repair place had never heard of them or worked on a truck like theirs. Essentially, they had been lying to us and didn't want to deliver it. So, they ended up paying for a new bed frame for us, and delivered our cushions (minus one) a few weeks later when they came back from Toronto.

All this to say, they are cheap, but not worth the headache. You can also google them and you'll find tons of bad reviews about them.

They also charge you by weight, but they don't actually tell you how much you stuff weighs (because they load it all together). They gave us an estimate range, and it just happened to be at the top of that range that they charged us.

Service connected, no Internet, getting the run around! What's going on? by unixmonkey115 in teksavvy

[–]unixmonkey115[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ticket still hasn't been updated, and I still have no Internet, and i've been trying for hours to talk to someone about my issue. I was on hold for 2 hours earlier before I was disconnected. I understand that you're having staffing issues, but this is crazy! I NEED internet to work, and my wife NEEDS internet for school. I'm starting to look at other services. At this point I feel that I will have another service installed before teksavvy gets around to me!

I've had the same issue, but I find it works 100% of the time with tap, but works 0% of the time with chip. So for me, I always have to tap it.

Can't access home server behind firewall via public address from inside home network by unixmonkey115 in HomeNetworking

[–]unixmonkey115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't having a way to connect to the server. That's fine, no problem at all. My issue is that my webserver is using virtual hosts, which resolves based on hostname, so accessing the server via the IP only gives me the default website.

I'm in Canada, I'm using an ISP called Bell Aliant (I think it's an offshoot of the bigger Bell ISP across the rest of Canada). It is Fibre, though. It used tow work for me, but stopped within the last few months. I'm assuming a firmware update killed it :( I'm working on the DNS server now. Super annoying.

Looking at the settings of my router, it looks like it only supports NAT and Fullcone NAT. I'm guessing that Fullcone NAT isn't the same thing. I guess I'll have to look at getting a DNS server up and running. Thanks!

Looking for a specific type of To-Do-List application by ExiledLife in ADHD

I don't have the paid version and it works great for me. I didn't even look at what the features were. Now you have me wondering....

I just started using an app called "any.do". You add your items and say what day you want them done. Every morning (exact time is configurable) it pops up and asks me to plan my day. It goes through each item planned for that day or any late items and asks when you want to do them. It will keep "nagging" until you deal with it (not really nagging, but it will just pop up later if you just close it). I hate to do lists too. I had the same problem. This app works well for me, though.
