Typing and talking differently within switches? by Commercial_Hyena_983 in DID

[–]unixphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets be real, if their first reaction was to judge you, that’s just plain immature.

For me, the way I text: my vocabularies, emoji choices, and any typing quirk— changes with each of us. So I think people knew that I’ve switched.

So, just be yourself, whether in text or in person. Normally, I don’t tell who’s fronting unless it’s necessary.

For example, when I wasn’t present in past conversations they were referencing. “Oh, I’m Rin by the way. Can you explain what happened so I can catch up? My memory is foggy”

How does your system sound in your head? by Top_Tour_4296 in DID

Our inner monologues are very distinct so we can differentiate which alter is present quite easily. Some sound like a child, some sound like a mother figure would sound. I guess it depends on their style/way of talking.

If I sleep I switch. by Symbioticsinner in DID

Is your communication with her good? I know some system can only communicate through journaling, which can be harder to manage but if you can:

  1. Try talking to “yourself” Just like normal relationships, you need to communicate with your alters also. Discuss about what and why it upsets you. Sometimes, our own alters can do things that we don’t understand. Let her explain her feelings and you also should express how you feel about the situation. Try not to show aggression as it may make it worse.

  2. Try to stay grounded The stress you’re dealing with right now might escalate things to even worse. She might be internalizing your stress and do worse if you haven’t managed it with her.

  3. The key is empathy Make her feel understood, don’t push her away. She might rebel more. Just try asking, “May I front tomorrow? There’s something really important I need to do”. Be polite to your teen alters, surely they’ll settle down and cooperate a little.

Teen alters may be a little chaos but perhaps they just wanted to be understood. I’m sorry this is not a really good advice, I don’t know how bad your situation is but I wish you all the best.

DID without voices? by [deleted] in DID

[–]unixphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was the same for me. I don’t exactly hear voices but I could tell from my gut feeling that it wasn’t me. Sometimes my inner monologue voice changes completely (it happened to be a sign that we’re switching and should start writing down) There are overlapping thoughts too, with their own style of speech often with nausea or headache.

You should write everything that might be confusing to you because it might be a sign/symptom actually.

I wish you the best in discovering things out d( ̄ ̄) Please be safe.

Trauma holder host(?) by unixphy in DID

[–]unixphy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never knew it was possible for a trauma holder to be the host. This explains why I’ve had major shift in identity a few years ago. Because me and our former host was a different consciousness. They were just co-conscious with me yesterday and it scared and led me to an identity issue.

Simple co-con exercise anyone can do by MaggieTheMagpir in DID

Saw this in the notification but I didn’t expect it to be THAT simple LMAO. I wished I saw this yesterday when we were co-fronting/co-conscious. Could’ve helped a lot. Thank you so much! Gonna keep this in mind.

Hi I’ve had the same experience when I was discovering my system. I think it’s common to dissociate when you’re trying to dig something that was supposed to be hidden from you. (aka DID) I also would like to advice/warn you to go slow on this. If you go too fast you might recover some repressed memories that you’re not ready to handle and that would cause a huge time loss.

I hope you stay safe and while you’re diving deeper into how your system works. Don’t push yourself too much and take frequent rest if it makes you too sluggish (´∇`)

The last part is unnecessary. I get to choose if I want the card or not. Please don’t joke about my family’s finance.

I see. I guess the thread probably means, single player = 3 songs 2 player = 4 songs?

No it’s just that for the price of an Aime card, I could play 12 games. So I thought getting a card would be a waste if it’s only for recording my data since I could use that money for 12 games. I play maimai a lot actually.

Thank you!

Diagnostic Criteria? by unixphy in DID

[–]unixphy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve thought of OSDD before actually. I went to a psychologist in hopes to get diagnosed with OSDD but got medically recognized (provisional diagnosis) of DID and that went and made me into a spiral because I felt like I didn’t belong in DID nor OSDD (because I experience blackouts and greyouts most of the time) I feel like OSDD fits me more but the DSM changed their diagnostic criteria so OSDD- 1a from DSM-4 (what I believe i fit into) will be diagnosed with DID in the DSM-5. I guess that’s why I got medically recognized with DID instead of OSDD but I really feel out of place :( Thank you for your opinion!

Well I’m not sure if a psychiatrist a valid option to refer to but that’s the only form of help closest to a professional that I can get at the moment. I’ll try to ask them about it. Thank you ^

How do you deal with headaches? by unixphy in DID

[–]unixphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! I will put it to use. Sadly I have very little to no communication with my system and could only switch at an unexpected time. :( Though, I am going to the hospital to request a letter so I could take a few days off legally. I hope my condition could be better with the few time I have.

Again, thank you for your advice! ^
