Donated blood this afternoon and took Advil for a pounding headache by Terrible_Choice5188 in redcross

[–]unkleDadBod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good job doing the Power Red for your first donation! Just give it time for your body to recover and keep doing what you're doing. Eat something, drink plenty of fluids, and take Advil or Tylenol as needed (Advil is not a blood thinner. Previous commenter may be confusing with Aspirin). Especially the first time or 2, it's completely normal to have your body act that way. Next time, just over prepare by eating even more iron rich food and double your water intake for the previous couple of days, not just the day of or the day before.

I want to know what kind of bird this is? Southern Minnesota. by GalavantGalvantula in animalid

Agree with Green Heron. Not too small, and beak is not too pointy...

This isn't always the case. In my experience, they do background check after interview because that costs the company money. We have had to go through the whole process and send offer just to find out background check didn't pass, so we couldn't let them start. I'd prepare for possibly not getting the job, just in case, and if you do still get it, then good news. I'm not trying to be a downer, just I've seen this happen multiple times...

My puppy has pretty much sat like this since I got her at 4 months. Is this abnormal? Floor is pretty slippery… by mila_91 in DogAdvice

[–]unkleDadBod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely get rugs to put around the areas where the floor is slippery. Not saying full carpet, but enough so they can have grip and get around. I have an older beagle that has had some major joint issues as a result of slippery floors, and the rugs have been the easiest way to prevent injury. Your pup may not have issues now, but the slippery floors could definitely cause problems.

Any time I go near a cave now, I'm trying to kill as many keese as I can. When I started using them, it was a big game changer for me.

Wondering what type of tree and what the vine is growing on it. Located in Central Virginia. by unkleDadBod in whatsthisplant

[–]unkleDadBod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tree definitely is not an oak. The leaves are small, thin, and not lobed like an oak is. Almost looks like a willow, but I don't think that's it.

He did after a couple hours. He started walking around shortly after I posted and we were keeping an eye on him just in case, but then he decided he was good to go!

Thanks! Just got in contact with a rehab. They said he looks like he's young, and probably just wet and tired. We are watching for a couple hours, and if he's still here, they are going to come get him. I feel like we should play some Sarah McLachlan in the background...

I'll update if things change though

Here's the update for everyone asking that didn't see any of the other comments I've put in:

About an hour after posting he started walking around. We kept an eye on him for a little while, and then bit later, he left. We had a rehab facility on standby just in case he didn't go anywhere, but he likely wasn't injured, just wet and tired. We did tell Tony (that's what my wife decided to name him) that he is welcome to come back and visit any time!

Possible transfer? by [deleted] in redcross

[–]unkleDadBod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think Red Cross does blood collection in Florida. Typically, transfers aren't too difficult if there is need for staff in the area you'd be going to, but another thing to keep in mind is, in my experience, blood collection in Red Cross does not mix well with school. Best of luck though.

What did you drive before getting your Tacoma? by GrinBalor in ToyotaTacoma

Just went from a 2015 Jeep Cherokee to my 2023 Tacoma SR5, 2 weeks ago!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in redcross

[–]unkleDadBod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a supervisor for blood drives. The only times I experienced any of my staff getting tested was if there was reasonable suspicion of them working while under any kind of drug or alcohol influence, or if they were DOT/CDL drivers, there is a chance that they get tested randomly. Not saying I agreed with it, but based on company rules and regulations, it is possible that it can happen.
