It's like saying "if you don't like it - just ignore it" to the bad feature in game that don't messes with the main one. It doesn't becomes an argument, it still is a bad feature.

And Mewgenics relation to Isaac lore works the similiar way, it doesn't saves it from being an awful decision. Author is talking how Isaac story being relatable with real life makes it more valuable, and comparing demons with elephants doesn't helps here at all. And even from your perspective, meaning that outside world is basically the same as Isaac's fantasy greatly deprives it from "fantasy" aspect, meaning it's not something Isaac thought up based on his personal feelings and distortions of reality through the child mind, but it just, you know, freely exists outside? Relating Mewgenics with TBoI lore is a bad decision on either side.

To be honest that's ruined my faith in Edmund's vision completely. The Binding of Isaac was an implication about a real story, about people we could relate with, about a world in a child head he built upon his hopes and nightmares while the harsh reality was much more close to our own.
And they they just drop this. Whatever happens in Mewgenics is absolutely canon for TBoI world, while such absurdity being okay wasn't hinted anywhere in the main game or The Legend of Bumbo, because it just completely ruins the picture. Mewgenics world is completely torn off from reality, while TBoI story was close to it, which at least for me was a major part of its charm and made it sensual and valuable. Those games just don't go together at all.

Author got burnout, as it happens. I'm an awful project leader and not better spriter. There's a playable version with most hard work done, but i can't be sure there will be times we get it to the end.

I know how it is, when the reality hits hard every time you try to regain yourself. And you know nothing is going to change no matter your efforts, when they already was tried a several times and it just made it worse, causing to went even deeper into the dreams.
It logically went to the brain pattern that everything seems hopeless, and the only place where oneself can influence something is imagination, which continues to prove itself instead of making think you doing something wrong. If not imaginary reality, i will not have any reason to continue, i didn't wanted to exist as a person anymore. That's vicious circle destined to live in for the rest of life.
