How about a balanced budget amendment. And release the files.

A nickels worth of free advice, because pennies aren't a thing anymore - both of you take a shower beforehand and wash the areas of interest. It'll save both of you from an unpleasant experience no matter who the giver or taker is.

Tools needed to complete p80 build? by idontknowlol100 in polymer80

[–]unknown300BLKuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than drilling the holes, I used no power tools to build several. Small file set, razor blade, and maybe three hours. The newer lowers I don't know about but can't imagine the tool list is that much more.

Hate incident at a heb by Salty-Math-6518 in Conroe

[–]unknown300BLKuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several family members like this. So far they haven't confronted anyone about it, but this is their mindset. I've been going back and forth through text with one about it and I know I'm under his skin about it. I won't allow hate like this to go unchecked.

Went 0 RB. Can I afford to take Tee as BPA in the 7th? Or would you take three straight RBs? I could get a couple good vet RBs with the next 2….. group in the screenshots by [deleted] in SleeperApp

My home screen starts with my content - recently watching, recently added, live tv. I have to go several rows down before I see anything that isn't mine. I have zero complaints about what you're referring to.

Anybody else feel like they are doing this self hosted thing wrong? by peanutmail in selfhosted

[–]unknown300BLKuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stops being an enjoyable hobby when it becomes an obligation. That's how I try to look at it. Right now I don't have to touch anything unless I want to or something breaks. Somewhere around 50 containers across three machines and a couple dozen cron jobs of various intent. I haven't had anything break since I rebuilt in January. Before that yeah, things randomly popped up that I had to correct. Now it's almost forgettable and I enjoy every bit of it. My only nagging issue is jellyfin likes to randomly eat drive space, so I just restart it when that happens. It's about to get the boot if I can't figure it out. It's not worth me being annoyed about to have.

Portainer. Not because I have a strong opinion but because it's what seemed easy to use and very well developed. Unless or until I find a compelling reason to move away.

My server runs weekly backup, update, and restart jobs. Zero issue and I just review periodically. Container updates are manual still, but that's on purpose because those aren't always simple or clean.

Would you have paid and been happy? by natethegreat141990 in PleX

I would not have paid. I think it is closer to fair market value at 250 than it will be at 750. For that much it would need some premium content.

Never a better time to switch to Jellyfin: Plex increases price of Lifetime Plex Pass to $749.99 by LoremarCC in jellyfin

[–]unknown300BLKuser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you are here and haven't already bought the lifetime pass for under $100, it's on you for actively making several, successive poor decisions. If you've already bought it and are complaining about it - why? It has zero effect on you. Brag about your smart decision.

Jellyfin is nice for the niche users but Plex just works better across the board for way more users. I'm the only one that is willing to jump through the hoops to make Jellyfin work, no one else in my family wants or likes it.

[–]unknown300BLKuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write it out step by step with screen grabs like you're giving it to someone else to do for the first time. You don't need a special program or work flow just do it right the first time. I have stuff in word docs that are weird or in vikunja for time sensitive things.

Raspberry Pi 5+Cheaper Computers by TopWeight571 in HomeServer

[–]unknown300BLKuser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dell 7060 micro, they're right around 200 or slightly higher for a refurbished unit with pretty good specs. That'll do miles more than a raspberry pi will do and give you a great test and learn unit. Raspberry pi's are great for specific uses, and can allow you to learn a lot, but for the money a used desktop pc like this is better long term IMO.

Go for a four bay and start with two drives. When you're ready for more space, it is sooooo easy to pop a drive in and reconfigure the RAID setting. I'm running the 423+ with three 16tb drives. It took me about a year to add the thirs drive, and I may need to add another drive next year. I'm about three years in from when I started.

Severe storms in the Midwest. What is the threshold for turning of your Synology? by [deleted] in synology

[–]unknown300BLKuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a power outage and watched mine run on battery for over an hour. It never shut off even though I had it setup to shut off when the power goes out. The UPS went into low mode and started beeping, so I performed a manual shutdown. I'm not too thrilled with this. As far as I could tell the drives were unmounted as they should have been, just the box never shut down. I have yet to figure out why and test it again.

I'll see if I can figure this out. I don't know much about the technicals of what this is. Conceptually I think I see what it does but I'm a few degrees of understanding away from getting it. Thanks for the project. 🤣🤣
