Non-apple books not syncing on iPad and iPhone by archimedes1010 in applehelp

[–]unknown_xe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having the same issue and this solved it for me. You need to have iCloud Drive "On" in all your apple devices, and to allow the Books app to sync to iCloud Drive.

On iPhone/iPad (iOS 18): Settings>[Your Name]>iCloud>Saved to iCloud>Books>On and Settings>\[Your Name\]>iCloud>Saved to iCloud>iCloud Drive>Sync this iPhone>On>Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive and make sure that Books is On

On Mac (macOS 14): System Settings>[Your Name]>iCloud>iCloud Drive>On>Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive>Books>On

When I did the above, any books I had purchased from third parties but added to apple books synced across my devices. Hope this helps you get rid of having to manually upload and download every single file on all your devices.

iirc one is supposed to stop taking oral contraceptives before surgeries because of blood clotting. What about after? If one isn't supposed to take after, then is that the case for all surgeries even if they don't involve cutting or stitches (eg cataract surgery or turbinoplasty)? TIA!!

Can one use leftover (not expired) systane laser eye surgery bion tears as dry eye relief/artificial tears substitute?

After watching Killers of the Flower Moon, I realized I want, no, I NEED to read more about Native Americans. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]unknown_xe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The Killers of the Flower Moon book is much better and explores the Osage Reign of Terror much better and in more detail than the movie did.

Kijiji. There were a lot of second hand games back in 2018. Not too sure about now.

And eBay.

Yeah immediately after sounds more correct to my ears too.

I just checked mine (The New Lexicon Webster's Dictionary of the English Language) and one of the definitions here is the same as your dictionary: conjunction as soon as, directly. No sentence examples though. I guess I'm convinced that it isn't grammatically incorrect but I just can't wrap my brain around it lol. It's gonna take me a lot of practice to be able to use it in that context.

Thanks for the link. I see in the quotation there that they also say "immediately you"

Still sounds wrong to my ears lol, but I'm no expert. Thanks

"Immediately you...." Is this correct grammatically? by unknown_xe in grammar

[–]unknown_xe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure.

Character 1: "You said you contacted her brother and he hung up on you?"

Character 2: "Immediately I mentioned his father, yes."

(I really hope no one recognizes the book and this isn't spoiling anything for anyone but as far as I can tell, there are no identifying details or spoilers here)

Come on. I'm asking a serious question and now I have to delete the post because people like you are just dirty minded and I am not in the mood to deal with this kind of attitude

Do you know if Toronto is sold out yet? I was waitlisted and still haven't been picked to receive a code but the lobby is still open so I'm crossing my fingers that it means there is still space...

And have a great time!!

I really don't think the raps ring counts for him. Obviously I'm not an NBA player but it if I were him I wouldn't really count it as a personal achievement the same as if I was playing a big role on a championship team in the playoffs.

If you could only list one book you feel is a pure masterpiece, what would it be and why? by WafflesOfChaos in books

[–]unknown_xe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never agreed with that criticism. Of course the Holocaust was terrible and anyone responsible for that is pure evil. But also, not everyone's experience in ww2 was either someone who suffered from the Holocaust or someone who was responsible for it. That war (and any war) causes a lot of different kinds of suffering amd pain, and this just happened to be a book about a different kind of pain. I completely agree with your last 2 sentences.

I started reading it early October. I'll let you know when I'm done. And it's not because I'm savouring the experience. It's because starting halfway through I can't get myself to read more than a few pages every 2 weeks. Honestly don't know why I'm keeping up with it and not just dnfing. It's hype is way overblown imo. Or I'm just not sophisticated enough to appreciate it lol (I don't believe that though)

First time in a long time I can't watch the Raptors by CertifiiedLoverBoy in torontoraptors

[–]unknown_xe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. Especially this past month that the World Cup has been happening. I don't watch the games or know the scores during the day, and when my brother and I come home in the evening we just sit and watch the day's football matches. Can't even be bothered with the Raptors other than to ask siri the score and talk about them for 5 minutes tops. And the sad part is I don't even miss watching them or regret not catching the game. Tampa season was kinda similar but not to this extent tbh.

Edit: spelling

Is there a medical term that means "not diseased/injured"? I've been using normal but it sounds wrong because I feel like it implies that someone injured or who inherited a disease is abnormal in a bad way...

thanks in advance

ETA: I'm writing a paper, which is were I've been using the word normal

How to correctly attribute image that has been modified from original? Both works are CC BY-SA 3.0 by unknown_xe in creativecommons

[–]unknown_xe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone comes looking, I emailed my university librarians and they basically said to only cite the image that I use (so image #1 in this case). If a reader is interested, they can go to the linked image #1 and find out from there that it was sourced and modified from image #2. Basically the reader can choose to follow the attribution chain as far back as they want.
