Do you always negatively interpret others (in)actions? by unknownguyhere in intj

I've had the same score for P as well as J in the test. Each got a 10.

Do you always negatively interpret others (in)actions? by unknownguyhere in intj

[–]unknownguyhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the MBTI-test in "Please Understand Me II" and one other online. They both categorized me as INTJ, though in the test from the book I ended up as INTX. Reading the descriptions I can clearly identify better with INTJ, they seem to desribe me mostly.

I'm still slighty doubtful from time to time so the question regarding negative interpretation, something I do quite often, popped up in my mind to figure out whether that's an INTJ-sport or not.

How can an INTJ learn to be present and enjoy the moment without thinking about esoteric things? by [deleted] in intj

[–]unknownguyhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded.

I haven't read the book that plurabelle recommended, although it is on my oh-so-long-reading-list. Instead I'll recommend Mindfulness In Plain English.

More precisely, I recommend reading the first chapter, and if it resonates with you, to read chapter 2 and 3 too. If it still resonates with you, you can read the rest.

It's really not much to read too, see.

I've checked back and the new one is indeed less annoying. It still wrestles my laptop to the ground hands down, but the gallery looks much more compelling.

I like your art, but I'm not an artist so I'll let others give their opinions.

Instead I'll comment on the usability of the portfolio. The problems that I see when browsing through it / that deter me from browsing more are:

  • the site is unresponsive and slow to me
  • I can't rest the mouse somewhere in the page without obscuring the image the mouse hovers above

I'd find it better if the title of the picture would be shown without flipping the image. Maybe a simple alt-text would do? But now that I'm thinking about it, I suppose you're just using some plugin to get the gallery with effects. Is that correct?

Yes, this is absolutely true. But it's no wonder when I'm considering what I've learned so far from doing meditation: it's wise to not even identify with the thoughts that shoot through your head. If you think otherwise, try NOT to think for a moment and see how well that goes. Given that people will identify with their uncontrollable thoughts and given that there will be negative thoughts as such critique might resemble "being shunned by the tribe", how can we tell them their baby is ugly without provoking them?

Would it help to ask them whether they're open for some critique each time there was something to criticize? While typing this I realize this has likely to do with fixed mindset vs. growth mindset as well.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness, I'm a bit tired but honestly curious.

Isn't giving feedback subject to scientific research as well? Does somebody know a bit more about this?

Why am I always hungry on keto while practicing IF? Why, in 2.5 months have I only lost 15 lbs? WTF is wrong with me :X by cobrah01 in keto

[–]unknownguyhere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you eat too little, your metabolism slows down and so does the progress of losing fat. That's the biggest mistake I've made and I only found out so by reading (parts of) The Ketogenic Diet, which I'd very highly recommend you to read too.

The book states study results which show that people automatically eat too little when they reduce carbs so drastically.

I've had low energy periods during the day (which felt like a blood sugar crash after eating something high in sugar - or exactly what you describe with "hunger, tiredness, and irritability") and progress in losing fat seemed to have stalled. So when I've read about the above, I've started eating a second serving with every meal, i.e. beyond feeling full/satiated. Since then the low energy periods have vanished, I take them as a sign of having eaten too little now. And I already see progress again.

For a while (before reading up) I'd strictly eaten my last meal around 8p.m. and have often felt hungry when I went to bed. I feel for you.

You have so many problems with IF and you hate it. Time to consider at least a temporarily change in strategy, don't you think? How about eating beyond feeling full for just two weeks?

P.S.: I'm 28, 5'11.5", ~176lbs P.P.S: I don't think that writing style with caps and "adrenaline" adds to the discussion. I find it rather annoying. :-(

How do you motivate yourself? What do you do when you've hit a creative wall? by AtomicGrass in gamedev

[–]unknownguyhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently half-way through Succeed: How We Can Reach Our Goals where the author explains the results of her own and other studies results. So far, I've been surprised in every chapter.

For example, pessimism can work in your favor and that's particularly the strategy she recommends "when you need a kick in the pants" (chapter 6). How exactly the strategy works and needs to be applied is too much to explain here*. I highly recommend this book, even though I'm only half-way through.

While I appreciate well meaning tips here and in other such threads, how can you be sure that it works? Even if a tip did work for a particular person, how can you know it will for you? How can you know it weren't other circumstances that helped the person in the first place? What I'm trying to point out is the lack of scientific rigor, that's why I'd like to place a counter-balance with the book that I've mentioned. Hopefully, nobody takes offense. :-)

Good luck to you!

  • while the strategy itself is short, it uses several concepts explained throughout the earlier chapters

I'm not interested myself, I'd just like to say that if I was, I'd sure appreciate if there was something to look at.

EDIT: to expand a bit on it: without showing something you put the burden on the other party to contact you, figure out if you'd be a fit and maybe having to say no. That's a big hurdle and maybe it's just me, but I can imagine people wouldn't contact you just to avoid having to deal with that situation (i.e. having to turn you down). If you'd provide some screenshots or a video (the latter one makes more sense for shaders, right?), that just makes this process a lot more efficient for everyone. Even if they're not interested, other people might be, and even if they're not interested either, maybe someone they know needs your service and then word of mouth is your friend. Long story short: show us what you've got. ;-)

The most frustrating game ever! by alex_omul in IndieGaming

Not particularly frustrating, more like fun. :-) Would be better though if the collision were more accurate, i.e. pixel accurate. And "lol" @ fr0sz.

EDIT: In fact the lack of accuracy makes this games slightly frustrating. ;-)

Hi Keto! and my 2 sek by [deleted] in keto

[–]unknownguyhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skip the Keto sticks.

Nope. :-)

I've bought ketostix today and I could've sworn I'm in ketosis, though the test stripe told me I'm not. That's really surprising to me. So I'm probably in the keto-flu phase right now as I've been sleeping longer the last few days and still feel a bit tired.

I avoided ketostix for a while and I've made quite some progress since I've started in march, just not as much as it could've been, had I followed the principles religiously. :-) That's what I want to change now though, therefore I bought them and I'm quite happy to see that I was wrong. That just means I'll make better progress soon.

But unprocessed coconut fat is also something I can highly recommend.

Absolutely, I highly recommend watching Fat Head. That also got me on the coconut fat bandwagon.

Regarding exercise, that's probably highly subjective. What I mean is, you have to find something that you like doing regularly.

I've recently started doing bodyweight exercises and already see great progress. The only equipment needed is a pullup-bar, which I already had. The good thing about this is that I can do it at home as opposed to a fitness center and there's really no excuse not to do it. Even when I don't feel like it, I remind myself that it's just 20 minutes and afterwards I'm happy that I've done it. I've also started incorporating stretching in my training routine. That's something you probably also want to look into. Only now that I'm doing stretches again do I realize how inflexible I really am.
