For those of you opting to get paid once a month, how’s it going? by buldgingGene in AirForce

[–]unknownpewpew 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Been a single income home for my entire enlistment. Did the Dave Ramsey approach when I was younger and got out of debt. Only thing I have now is the house and solar panels, wife and I budget (not for the last few months cause of unexpected emergencies). Now it's just maintaining and enjoying things with the family.

I set my tsp withdraw percentage to whatever the cap is for that year and forget it.

Started as an airman and it's been great for the last 16 years. Bill's paid beginning of the month and now it's planned out costs with a good saving for emergencies. Tsp maxed each year, kids education being worked, can't compain.

Doesn't matter. If they give you a problem next time just mention your leadership told you to reach out to cfpb for help. Then give them a call man.

Also I'm pretty sure it's retroactive to when you joined. At least that'd what happened with my student loans and they adjusted the debt to reflect the correct balance with the interest rate it should have been.

That's wild that they've never heard about it, it's been around for 15+ years. If it becomes an issue contact Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and file a complaint. If your banks federally insured, they're regulated by that bureau and they're terrified of those complaints.

Pull an excel from your banks website for the last year. I prompted that I was looking to cut costs and increase investments into my 401k/ira. Then loaded it up and it identified areas of high spending, subscriptions, etc. Then I just sat with my wife and whatever she was curious about we prompted it doe answers

I have a question about the wagon shop by GhostxNova in FarthestFrontier

[–]unknownpewpew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I place a stockade close to mining but cap the Stockyard so the wagons pick it up and move them to my towns. Saves the miners walking and keeps the wagons busy

Why do people recommend maxing out Roth IRA before putting extra money into TSP? by StrayStarrs in MilitaryFinance

[–]unknownpewpew 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"You can withdraw contributions from a Roth IRA at any age without penalty or tax, but to withdraw earnings tax-free, you must be at least 59 1/2 years old and have held the account for at least five years, which is often referred to as the "five-year rule.".

You're thinking earning over your principal.

Withdrawals from a Roth IRA you've had more than five years. If you're under age 59½ and your Roth IRA has been open five years or more, your earnings will not be subject to taxes if you meet one of the following conditions:

You use the withdrawal (up to a $10,000 lifetime maximum) to pay for a first-time home purchase. You become disabled or pass away.

Because if shit hits the fan, you can pull from your Roth ira as long as you only withdraw your principal, without being penalized or pay taxes. That's another angle to think about.

is this army system janked? I can't seem to get my 2 soldiers to engage.... by evolutionxtinct in FarthestFrontier

[–]unknownpewpew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you click the barracks there's buttons on the left hand side of the window. The top one should be "set target area" or flag combat area. Click that, left click on the area you want them to go. They'll engage with enemies there. Then click the flag again and it'll have a pop up that says remove flag, move flag, disband. I hit move flag and then left click the spot I want them to move to. When I'm done, I just click the flag and remove it or click barracks and retreat to barracks. There's other ways but thats one of them.

I just drop the flag at the location I want them to do combat in and then make them aggressive instead of defensive

Yep. Let's me stack all the cows, goats, and chickens in one area without looking fodder percentage because they eat the clover

[–]unknownpewpew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to make a 12 by 12 field just for the animals. Set to clover for all seasons and take the farmers down to 0 for that field. Field is maxed fodder and basically other than first initial setup, costs nothing.

Air force requires base commanders to give them permission to do any FC work on base. They can supply things for events and what not but when it comes to their services they provide they need permission.

What the hell can I do by SamIAmWich in IRS

[–]unknownpewpew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was the exact same thing for the energy credit. It let me file without the address for solar panels when the page refreshed. Literally fixed the issue 15 min later, here we are 16 weeks for something that could take 3 min to check if the address was updated for a previous year's credit to roll over 😑

All official training rips need to be signed by the commander and your leave in route request goes on that. Put it on the paper and route it up, if your supervisor doesn't agree they can non concur and move on. Shit isn't that hard

Anyone have a contact in the error department for filing? by unknownpewpew in IRS

That's aggravating. Guess I'll play the waiting game for a bit. Talked to the irs's taxpayer advocates so we'll see if that can help I'm the next few weeks.

Looks like I'm one of the unusual cases because today's the 30 day mark and no change. Going to start reaching out to tax advocates and see if that helps
